QuestionBought unit for a third floor apartment. Why does unit have a hose for water drain when it is supposed to be a self evaporating unit? Do we need to manually drain when used as an air conditioner? Is unit also a dehumidifier separately?

- Answer The unit is not exactly quiet, I think noise level is normal for an AC. So far works Ok. I am using it in an enclosed patio, so not too concern with noise. The duct is not insulated and it does get really hot. I covered the duct with a duct insulation sleeve to prevent the radiation of heat in the room. I bough the sleeve in Home Depot. Hope this helps.

- Answer I'm assuming you mean basement and I think so. The exhaust hose is fairly long and the window panel for the exhaust hose works vertically or horizontally.
