  • QuestionI have an old LG front load washer. Every few washes, I have to drain about 2 cups water from the little hose in front where objects and debris can collect. Do the newer washers need this water drained periodically?

    Asked by trix.

    • Answer It is recommended that you periodically check the drain pump filter on the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 4.5 Cu. Ft. 8-Cycle High-Efficiency Front-Loading Washer with 6Motion™ Technology - White, Model # WM3400CW for any foreign objects or lint that may clog it up and prevent the washer from draining properly. If you look at the main image for the washer, you will notice the access panel in the lower left front of the washer. You will need to open that access panel to get to the drain pump filter, but it is recommended that you place a shallow pan under the access panel to collect water. When you open the access panel, you will see the drain hose and drain pump filter. The drain hose has to be pulled out carefully and placed in the shallow pan so that when you remove the plug from the hose, any water that is left in the tub after the washer has drained will drain out completely. Once the water is drained, you can plug the drain hose up an reinsert it back in place then remove the drain pump filter by turning it counter-clockwise. You will need to have a rag handy because a little water will run out when the filter is removed...^IFV

  • Questionplease let me know the actual width of the machine. We have only 30" space available. Is 30.25" including the front circle knobs? Can some one please tell us the measuerment of the top portion depth without knobs

    Asked by Rv.

    • Answer The actual width for the ENERGY STAR® Certified LG 4.5 Cu. Ft. 8-Cycle High-Efficiency Front-Loading Washer with ColdWash™, and 6Motion™ Technology - White, Model # WM3400CW is listed at 27". You can find the dimensions for the washer listed under Key Specs on it product information page on the Best Buy site. The listed depth of 30.25" is for the part of the door on the washer that protrudes out the most in front of the washer to the part that protrudes out the most on the back of the machine. If you look at the images for the washer, you will notice that the front of the washer is contoured and the top portion that has the Cycle Selector knob is not the deepest part of the washer as it recedes back from the front so that the middle of the door is the deepest part which is wher the depth of 30.25"is measured from...^IFV

  • QuestionI am very surprised to see so little water in the washer (basically I cannot see any water during the wash and rinse cycles). Shouldn‘t there be several gallons in the machine during those cycles? I paused the wash and saw only drops inside. Is it normal?

    Asked by Polo.

    • Answer Yes it is very normal. If washers use up a lot of water, it can leave a very bad odor on the clothes and that means that we would have to wash it again and waste more water. LG made the washers like that so it can clean better and save a lot of water so that we won’t waste money on our water bill.

  • QuestionHi how much water does this unit use?

    Asked by Paul.

    • Answer Hi Paul. The ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 4.5 Cu. Ft. 8-Cycle High-Efficiency Front-Loading Washer with 6Motion™ Technology - White, Model # WM3400CW uses Load Sensing for its water levels. When a cycle is selected, the default time for that cycle is displayed. This time will change as modifiers or options are selected. Once the Start/Pause button is pressed, the washer will measure the size of the load to determine how much water to use for that load. The washer rotates the laundry in a way that allows it to use less water while still fully saturating your clothing. It is normal to not be able to see water during the wash cycle. Its Estimated Annual Water Use under typical conditions based on an annual usage of 295 loads per year, or around 6 loads per week as referenced by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) test procedure is 3,841 gallon per year. The washer has a total weighted per-cycle water consumption of 13.05 gallons...^IFV

  • QuestionDoes the LG 3400 Only! Use cold water for the rinse cycle? Thank you. Hope not just purchased it.

    Asked by Nova.

    • Answer Greetings Thank you for answering my question about LG 3400w Only using cold water rinse. However where I live in the winter the cold water is extremely cold. Clothes are almost fidget. How does this benefit this rinsing? Plus whites etc need warm water to clean them. The CS Rep at Best Buy told me that YES I can have a warm rinse cycle. I'm very unhappy as it was misrepresented to me. It's arriving Friday. May have to go back. Which front load models have warm rinse cycles Than you.

    Asked by LSOK.

  • QuestionWill this washer mount on my older Samsung pedestal WE357A7W?

    Asked by Brownwrapper.

    • Answer No! Unfortunately it requires a newer proprietary pedestal due to their being protrusions in the middle whereas other pedestals have traditionally only had to align the four adjustable legs on the washer. It is unfortunate as the generic pedestal, as opposed to the one that adds another tray for additional clothes washing, isn't universal for 27 inch units.
