QuestionDoes this fit in a window that slides open vertically?My window opens vertically, left to right. Will this panel fit that direction? Also, do you have to remove the window screen?

- Answer I just got off the phone with the call center in India and I was told that the hose goes out the window in order to get rid of the heat generated by the motor inside the unit. Additionally, I was told that it is a "self evaporating" unit and the water can be emptied by hand out of the back of the unit. ALSO, I explained that I have a window that opens side to side and its 50 inches tall she said that the extension kit that comes with the unit has several parts and that it should work for my window. THEREFORE THE VENT KIT supposedly works for up and down windows, side to side windows, and or casement windows. And, YES you must remove the screen. I'm just hoping that whoever answered above didn't know what they were talking about and at the call center actually does. I get my unit in two weeks I will keep you all posted!

Questiondoes this unit have to be filled up with water what does fl mean and why does this unit shut off and I have to move it to turn back on

- Answer You should read the manual. "fl" means the water pan is full and needs to be drained, by moving to a spot water can be drained and unplugging the drain to drain it out. Then plugging back in and powering it up will cause it to start working again. If your unit does this often (before pan should realistically be filled up, you may have another issue.

- Answer The cord is approximately 4' in length. You need to make sure anything this is plugged into has the correct rating.

Questionis the water suppose to be drained and if so how often my unit is leaking all over I was told to fill with water a message comes on and says fl and then unit shuts off if that normal or do I have to drain all the water out please help

QuestionI currently have a portable unit (different manuf.) that automatically drains out of a long rubber tube out the window. Does this unit operate similarly, or do you have to empty the water manually?

- Answer Manually, unless your drain attachment point is as low as the drain port on the backside of unit. I bought 3 and run 2 on dehumidify. I also bought plastic tubs and units sit in these with drain left open. Have noticed small amount of water in tub bottom, but it is inconsequential. I did not want to drill a hole through brick for an outside drain and would forget about the little reservoirs that accompany the unit(s).

- Answer Yes, you can install this unit in your vertical sliding window. There is a panel included that allows you to vent the unit through a hole without having overhanging hoses outside.
