That is misleading. You activate the phone with them and select a monthly plan. I think it means that you have purchased the phone from a vendor and not directly form them. I purchased this for an elderly friend who tried the smartphone but found it too complicated. I activated the phone after purchasing it and send it to her overnight mail. She loves it.
