The G502 Hero is the newer model of the Proteus Spectrum. Ergonomics are nearly identical between the two, however there are some technical differences. The newer ‘Hero’ model uses Logitech’s newer HERO (High Efficiency Rated Optical) sensor, which should show an improved DPI count from ~ 12,000 to ~16,000. Still, most people won’t ever take advantage of this improvement. At 16,000 DPI, using your mouse and watching your cursor fly wildly across the screen is going to be equivalent to most people as ludicrous speed was to Dark Helmet in the movie ‘Spaceballs’.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The main differences between the G502 Hero and the G502 Proteus Spectrum are that the Hero has the new Hero Optical Sensor that has a maximum DPI od 16,000. The Hero also has a better-braided cable because the cable on the Proteus Spectrum frayed. Lastly, the Hero has the newer Logitech logo on it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Also 50m rated omron swithces vs 10m rated in spectrum
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The G502 Hero has higher DPI settings and allows any variation instead of specific presets. Other than that, it is mostly the same.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes it is. seems to track better, and without needing to have to calibrate it with your mousepad. it also allows you to go up to 16000 dpi instead of 12000 dpi. not that you need that but still. very nice mouse in my opinion. I have 3 now. I bought 2 of the older one. one did not have the rgb lighting. then wife wanted one so I got it as it lit up and she could make it her favorite color. both work great still. then I got this new one to try and keep. and like how it tracks and feels as well. moves smooth in games. played cod4 (old original pc version) and got accused of using aim assist. so works well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.proteus spectrum clicks sound way different than hero clicks. i choose proteus spectrum
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have both (Hero & Spectrum) and can't tell the difference:) Bought them at different time periods.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They are both the same mouse, except the Hero has an upgraded sensor and 16,000 DPI up from the proteus 12,000 DPI
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just picked the proteus up today on sale $35 and can tell you out of the box 1 5 minutes ago, and the pictures for hero.. No difference other than mentioned dpi upgrade. Havent plugged it in yet but build quality is excellent along with button positioning. I may pick up another tomorrow.. Someone said logo is different but I don't see it is. Save yourself the $45, 12k dpi will be fast enough
