Hello TMAS, in order for the mouse to go to sleep, it has to be inactive for a set amount of time. Out of the package, it'll be around 1 minute. Downloading our free Logitech Options software, you'll be able to adjust this setting and set it to your preferred sleep settings. Thank you, have a great day. -Ricky from Logitech
