- Answer I use it with my Samsung UHD TV. I connect the optical audio port of the TV to the audio port of the device and it works fine. You do have to go into the audio setup of the TV and choose the digital out vs. the tv speakers.

- Answer I have Bluetooth earbuds (I would assume your hearing aid is Bluetooth) attached so that I can clearly hear the words while my husband is able to listen to the TV normally. To use our sound bar we had to purchase an extra optical cable.

- Answer This depends on the hearing aids - it will pair with hearing aids that support a standard Bluetooth stereo audio connection (known as the A2DP Bluetooth profile), which allows them to be paired with standard Bluetooth audio sources and not just smartphones and tablets. There are some hearing aids that require specialized software, commonly known as "made for iPhone" (MFI) technology. Even though they support Bluetooth, these hearing aids are not compatible because they cannot be paired to Bluetooth audio devices that are not smartphones. There are also some hearing aids that require an additional Bluetooth accessory to pair with a standard Bluetooth audio device. These hearing aids will not work without said Bluetooth accessory. There is a lot of variation between different brands and models of hearing aids, so we always recommend contacting the manufacturer of your hearing aids to see if they can clarify for you whether the specific model you are using can be manually put in Bluetooth pairing mode and connected with a standard A2DP Bluetooth audio device. If the answer is yes, then they can also provide instructions for activating Bluetooth pairing mode on your hearing aids, which you will need to complete the pairing process.

- Answer I honestly do not have first hand experience with MEE to Sony, but I would be hard pressed to believe it would not work. I am not sure what your intention is (TV to speaker, or connecting something else?) but Best Buy has a great return policy if it does not work out for you, so always worth trying.

QuestionDoes the optical pass through support/preserve a surround signal? My idea was to put this device between my TV and surround system. I’d use the device for music but just want to be sure the surround functionality would remain when not using.

- Answer This device does pass through a surround signal, but stereo Bluetooth headphones will not support surround sound. Essentially, this means you will have to change the optical audio output format in your TV's sound menu to stereo/PCM when using Bluetooth headphones, and then change it back to Dolby/surround when using your surround system. You will not need to adjust any cables, just the menu setting.

- Answer Yes, you can do that with this transmitter. If your turntable does not have a built-in preamp, you may have to use an external one, but more often than not you will not need one and it'll just be plug and play.

However, what the Bluetooth function on soundbars is designed to do is allow you to stream audio from your TV to your soundbar wirelessly over Bluetooth, which is the function that this device will enable. The Bluetooth on soundbars is not designed for a wireless subwoofer function - that function is locked to the branded wireless subwoofer that is recommended for this soundbar (in this case the Sony SW3, SW5, or any other Sony wireless subwoofer(s) that are designed for the A3000 soundbar).

- Answer Because of the way in which Bluetooth works, 5 simultaneous connections from one transmitter device are not possible. However, you can daisy chain 3 of these Connect Hub transmitters (or 2 Connect Hub transmitter and 1 regular Connect transmitter), and pair each one with 2 Bluetooth headphones/speakers for a total of 6 simultaneous connections. Alternatively, you can get a 6-pack of old-style wireless RF headphones with one transmitter, such as those used by schools (for example the HamiltonBuhl brand). You may have to buy some additional equipment in order to connect them to your TV if you choose to go this route.
