I don't know its magic. No but really they just put the infrared LEDs on the inside of the controller itself. Not really sure how, but you can trust Meta to make good tracking. And they will be very durable. The weak point of the quest 2's controllers were their tracking rings, and aside from those they're bricks. So they will probably be near impossible to break. Also due to the fact that they are using higher quality parts on the new controllers, they won't crack as easily either.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Touch Plus still have infrared LEDs on them, on their face instead of along a tracking ring. Given these LEDs will be occluded from the headset much more often – when covered by your hand or facing away from the headset's cameras – Quest 3 also continuously runs its controller-free hand tracking, and this is fused with the controller LED tracking. As with all VR controllers, all this optical tracking data is combined with the accelerometers and gyroscopes to produce the final tracking result.
