RAM is what your computer uses to remember how an application runs while the application is open. For example, it's what remembers what tabs you have open when you're browsing the Internet, or what programs you have opened. 8GB of RAM is usually enough for productivity and multitasking, which this device is good at. 128 GB of storage is similar to how you define how many photos you can save on your phone, or how many files you can save on your computer. Solid state drive means that it doesn't use spinning drives, which most laptops don't use anymore these days. For this laptop, that combination is the mid tier, and depending on your use case that might be enough.
