How it this machine on a rug or should I get a mat? null

In my case, I have wall-to-wall carpeting and I had to deal with this. I'd suggest, at the very least, getting a mat to help keep the rails more lint-free. I went a step further and had Home Depot custom cut me a 36x78 nice plywood base...and placed a mat on top of that...Very Solid. You don't feel any "give" or instability due to the carpeting.

I bought a mat for my rug and it works great. Not sure without the mat.
