Just posted my review and I would highly recommend the Nighthawk AC1900 USB 3.0 Dual Band WIFI adapter. My signal -- using the 5Ghz band -- is passing through one floor and traveling a diagonal distance through three walls of about 70 feet and I'm still getting almost 90% of my max ISP download speed and about 70% of my max upload speed (80/40 max, getting 70/25), more than a two-fold increase over the older USB WIFI adapter it replaced (was an "n", about 5 years old). I’m using mine approximately 80’ from WiFi Router. Works fine. Have not tried extending the distance.

My WiFi router is first floor and I use it on my desktop in basement gets full signal while my other devices barley get 1 or 2 bars

Signal reception varies as a consequence of the type construction. Give it a try and if not, get a repeater to boost the signal from your modem.
