No it's not like a microwave. A microwave heats faster, in seconds. The ninja foodi heats and cooks in minutes and food turns out great. Your food is either toasted to perfection, baked and moist not dry, and fried just right not soggy. A microwave can't fry, leaves your food soggy and can dry out meats. I really love my foodi ninja, I use it all the time, best investment I've made. It may not heat as fast as a microwave but it's still faster than most counter top ovens.

I haven't figured out how it would take the place of a micro wave. I have found out that you can't go by the times and heat of it to cook something. I cooked french fries the other day. I cut the time down to 24 minutes instead of 28 to 30 and it burnet so of them and the rest was dried out.

No. But it replaced our toaster and we don't have to use the oven except for larger items. Heats up really fast.
