Unfortunately you have to remove the clip when you talk on the phone, otherwise you will sound muffled when on the phone.

I have never had this problem with the iPhone 7. I did with the older models of the OtterBox . I will tell you that I recommend cleaning the case and the phone once a month for the best performance .
