Audio systems tend to start having a crackling sound in the background, as an indication that volume has been increased to a sound level higher than that device can cope with (for the type of music which is playing, such as extreme bass) I have purchased an audio product in the past (this is not regarding any Polk), found this issue as soon as I 1st turned it on at lower volumes, successfully exchanged it in-store (does not relate to BestBuy. Related to an Australian purchase). The device never had any issue once exchanged, but on saying that, I never tried to strain it’s cabilitiles either
