The cameras are designed to activate by motion and record video and audio. If you pay for the monthly service from Ring all video that is recorded during motion can be retrieved. Video that is captured is only stored for a certain period not forever. Battery life will remain strong while only streaming motion activated video and audio. As long as the solar panel is located in place that receives enough light it will keep the batteries charged.

Using the live view feature, your Ring device will record up to 10 minutes of video. We also offer Snapshot Capture, which works by taking still frame photos at selected time intervals and uploading them to the Ring cloud. You can then view these snapshots on your Event Timeline, just like you do for events. Snapshots will be stored in the cloud for seven days. After that, they are automatically deleted. This will not affect any of your motion events or Live Views. Here is a helpful article regarding snapshots and the features benefits: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034355652-Timeline-Security-Snapshots-Using-Snapshot-Capture. The Solar Panel will help elongate the battery of the Ring Stickup Camera, but you will still need to periodically charge the batteries. Ring recommends at least three to four hours of direct sunlight, depending on your usage. Make sure there are no obstructions that could be casting a shadow on your solar power device such as an extended roof, trees branches, or bushes. If your installation area is frequently very cloudy or gets a lot of rain or snow, this could limit the amount of sunlight that your solar power device receives. We welcome you to share your 24/7 recording feature request on our community support board. We would love to hear your feedback on how we might improve this experience for you, and kindly ask for your feedback to be directed to our Ring Community page on Ring.com: https://community.ring.com/. Thank you, Jamila with Ring
