I'm not sure I only had it so far for a few loads   but so far I love it and it is so much quieter than my other washer,

Good question jharris about setting this Samsung washing machine model to use cold water by default.

This Samsung washing machine model has pre-programmed cycle settings and these settings could not be reprogrammed to use cold water by default. We recommend changing the water temperature before you start the cycle.

Please turn to page 31 of the user manual I have shared below to know how to change the water temperature and page 36 for the cycle chart.

Not that I'm aware of, but it really isn't hard to switch the temp when you set the wash.
