Verizon does two kinds of credit checks. The first is a full credit check (Rating from the credit bureaus) for new customers to ensure they won't skip out on the bill or monthly payments. The second, and the one that applies to you, is an existing credit check. This just checks an existing customers payment history to make sure they make payments on time, haven't been disconnected, haven't opened multiple lines on multiple accounts, and also a passive credit rating check to make sure your credit score hasn't dramatically changed. I've been with Verizon since before they were Verizon. Five years ago when I was laid off I had to declare bankruptcy. Verizon did the existing credit check, but because I never missed payments they still approved upgrades every time. That's why I'll never leave. I've built up to much good credit with Verizon.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is a credit check done if your using the payment plan because a bank is financing the payment plan. If you pay cash then no credit check.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you are not eligible for a full upgrade then you are required to buy the phone or pay off your current device.
