Which Galaxy 5? S5 or Note 5? The S5 is not capable of wireless charging unless you buy a back to make it so, the Note 5 does have wireless charging.

I have the Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge with the Spigen Tough Armor case and I DO NOT have to take the phone out of the case for wireless charging.
Although it "seems" to take just a tiny little bit longer to fast charge than with the fast charging cable that came with the phone, maybe 5% longer. 
As I stated: it SEEMS to me that way, might just be my perception. Otherwise, great charger, super convenient

No, you can't charge the Galaxy s5 on the fast charger.

You don't have to remove the case, but I don't know that older phones are equipped with the technology for wireless charging.

My S5 didn't work on it. I believe you have to buy a special battery if you want to use it on your S5.

Yes but the clock does not show on the face when off so the flat one will do. If you plan to upgrade to 7 get the standing charger. It is handy as a bedside clock

If your cover is hard plastic it should not be a problem, but if it is rubber like my otter box was, then no. It will not work.
