As long as your chrome book has a 3.0 port on it, you should have no problem expanding your storage capabilities. Otherwise it will drag as it tries to access a lot of data stored on the flash drive. 2.0 speeds are considerably slower to transfer file data back and forth.

It should work. Make sure your Chromebook has a USB 3 port if not you can save a few bucks and get a USB 2 thumbdrive.

Keep it to text files and photos. Typical audio files also work. Not a super fast drive.

To get the best performance from this USB Thumb Drive, the Chromebook would need to have USB 3.0 ports for use with this drive. Even with USB 2.0, this unit would work, but not as fast as you may be looking for.
