You cannot update the Shokz Opencomm2 without a dongle. I'm not even sure if it can be connected to a dongle. The response from Shokz shown to this question is incorrect and should be reported to Shokz for correction. The Shokz App lists these products as UNSUPPORTED (see screenshot): Openrun, Openmove, Openswim, Opencomm, Opencomm2, Opendots, Roadwave. The charging cable does not provide a data connection.

Hello- Shokz here! Yes you can update the OpenComm 2 without the dongle. However, the OpenComm2, when used in conjunction with the dongle, can utilize the Shokz Connect app for firmware upgrades, and features such as synchronized mute and volume adjustments, one-click answering, and call blocking.
