The recorder comes in with lots of built-in Flash memory. However, you do have the option to use your own micro flash drive.

If this questions regards a magnetic tape cartridge, the answer is no. This is a digital voice recorder and does not use use removable tape cartridges. Sound is recorded digitally (voice or music) and is recalled electronically for playback and transfer to computerized equipment. There is nothing additional to buy. The purchase includes the appropriate USB communication cable for conventional computer equipment.
