“Can I buy a 3.5mm cable that has a inline mic and connect it to the headphones. would it work? would I be able to talk through the mic in the cable? could or could it not work on any other blutooth headphones?”

I believe it would work, but you don't need it. If you pair it via bluetooth with your phone, you can talk to the person on the other end and they can hear you just fine. I have a ndroid phone and I was able to hear the person and respond to them, with the headphones on. It was actually pretty cool.
