• I have 2 older flat screen TVs that are not smart TVs. I did not need a converter box & the pictures are better & clearer than they were with my network company, plus alot of channels I never received before. I bought a total of 4 of these antennas & love them.

• If you are using a converter box you need an analog antenna.

• I would say that if your TV needs a digital converter then, yes, you need that converter for this antenna, too. I don't believe it picks up analog signals.
