Maybe mine is defective or not made to be played at full volume because it only gives roughly 3:30 hours of play on full volume. my JBL charge 3 had consistently given me more than 8 hours of play on full volume for 8 months until recently. Now, speakers aren't made to be constantly played on full volume and I understand that but if you use yours outdoor and play on full volume like I do, JBL speakers are the best , they have more powerful and longer lasting batteries. As far as sound quality they are pretty much the same.

I honestly think boom 3 is better than jbl in my opinion. I was looking at the jbl for myself but my mom and uncle ( both are tech savvy) have the boom 3. I like the fact that a single charge will last 15 hours of off or on playing time. It has 360 degrees sound which is really nice. It’s also portable and Bluetooths to your phone. So it’s great being waterproof for poolside music. I personally recommend the boom 3.

JBL is what I was gonna buy but the Boom 3 was on sale, the battery life is all of the 15 hours they say. I bought a second one for outdoors, they lasted from 1pm until 11pm
