A:AnswerAll but the 1TB version of this drive are 5400 rpm. These are also SMR drives and not CMR being sold. I recommend the WB Black 2TB or larger if you are looking for 7200 rpm and good write speeds. Otherwise if you are just storing documents or photos, this 5400 rpm SMR drives will work just fine.

A:AnswerSATA 3 will work fine. You’ll be bottlenecked on read/write speeds by your lowest rated component(sata cable or motherboard capabilities). Without knowing the complete setup it would be hard to tell but it should be an upgrade in speeds over the older drive.
