I was a bit skeptical at first, this wasn't the unit I had set my sights on but we (Yes - we! My wife and I) have been quiet impressed! We recently had 1100 sq. ft. Of flooring installed and was a little concerned about "dust accumulation" as some of our friends suggested, this was a concern because of my wife's back injuries; however, I can honestly say "after running our Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum twice weekly this hasn't been an issue" the vacuum keeps our floors as stunning as the first day they were installed! As its been said, "Happy Wife, Happy Life"!!!! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone, we've had our Roomba 980 for 2 months and have enjoyed the ease of use, cleanness of our floors, and there is also less dust on the furniture - my wife says "she loves her Jenny (the name we selected for our Roomba) because like Forest Gump, she just keeps on running"!!!!

My 980 has vacuumed 3,000 sq. ft. and performed very well. I ran it over wood and carpet floors that I hand vac’d two days earlier and was blown away by the how much dust and carpet fibers it picked up. Best of all it gets under much of the furniture and beds which are usually missed by hand vacuuming. It’s a winner if it keeps running long term.

I live in a one-bedroom apartment, and the living room and bedroom are all carpets, kitchen and bathroom are tile floor. So, i read a lot of reviews on youtube, and BestBuy's website before making a decision on purchasing my Roomba 980. Let me tell you I LOVE IT! it is the best purchase I have made in 2016, the irobot works phenomenally. it's extremely easy to use, looks very sleek, not loud, and the suction on this vacuum is awesome! I've owned it now for two months and maintenance on the Roomba 980 is simple, and with the ios app, it gives you step-by-step instructions if you encounter any problems, even short video clips on how to do it. My apartment is clean all the time now, with only a press of a button and let the iRoomba do the rest. One recommendation is if you have cables and shoes I would put them away that way your Roomba can clean with ease. It will go around the legs if chairs and clean the edges perfectly, but common sense, less clutter you have the better your roomba will have access to cleaning. The only thing that was keeping me from buying it was the price tag, but now that I own one its money well spend, you will not regret buying the irobot iRoomaba 980 it's an investment well made to keeping your place clean hands free :).

It's Amazing! I have to say I was skeptical at first but it works like a pro! My carpets haven't looked so nice in a long time. The carpets have "tracks" in them. It's gone into every room in my apartment, even my kitchen and my bathroom and picked up every piece of dirt. I cannot say enough how thrilled I am of this robotic vacuum. The app is easy, with a push of a button your robot will start cleaning, push notifications for errors, like if its stuck, full bin, etc. You can also put it on a schedule. I like knowing I can push a button at work and my house is getting vacuumed. It feels so nice and since I've bought it I have used it to help motivate me more to clean my apartment. Now my apartment is neat and orderly and it hasn't been for a long time.

Excellent product considering we wanted to purchase a robot vacuum for carpet cleaning. So convenient to operate and takes care of floor really well. Sensors function adequately and cleaner can easily differentiate between surface levels. Our roomba accidently moved to patio from where it was about to fall but sensors made sure that it stops right there (sharing the pic in this review). The only drawback that i felt was that cleaning of clear bin is not very convenient.

I love the new app and the ability to create a daily schedule to clean my floors. I also appreciate the extended range and longer battery life. I have a large house and my new roomba can clean the entire first level of my house! That's a around 800 sq ft in a little over 3 hours. It does have to return to the docking station and recharge in the middle, but it is all automatic. I can be at work and look at the report, including a map of the area cleaned, from the app on my phone.

Honestly, I wish we would've purchased this sooner. We have a couple cats and it does a great job of picking up the hair on carpet. The hardwood floors is really where you can see the difference because the dirt is much more visible. Overally, very pleased.

My wife and I had discussed buying a robot vacuum cleaner. She was adamant against it for the house, so I decided to buy this for my home office as a Xmas present for myself. We set it up on Christmas day and within 10 minutes of operations, my wife said it would never see my home office. So we have been using it for the last 3 weeks and here are my observations: 1.) The unit lives up to its claim to not get entangled with cords and carpets. 2.) Cleaning a 1,700 sq ft single level has been taking about 5 hours; Much more time than if we were going to vacuum manually. But no one has to be there when it is vacuuming and it is not a big deal do multiple vacuuming a week keeping the house very clean (or at least the carpet). Just use the app to schedule the vacuuming to start on a work day as soon as everyone has left. When you get home the house will be clean. 3.) The bin is not really as big as required for my house. The good news its when it is filled it will return to home and post a message to the app. Empty the bin and it will continue cleaning. But once we scheduled the unit to run multiple times per week, then we found we could run the unit during the day without it stopping for a bin emptying. And besides running the unit multiple times a week makes the house look nice. 4.) The Roomba 980 has no problems with pine needles ... but remember my earlier comment about bin capacity. 5.) The battery seems to last between 1-2 hours. When the battery runs out of juice it goes back to the home station to recharge for about 50 minutes. 6.) If you have clutter on the floor it will go in seemingly random patterns. I did some testing last week and was able to verify that it really does cover all of the non-cluttered parts of the floor. But there does seem to be a slight miss in corners. 7.) One of the most interesting advantages to the Roomba is everyone knows they need to keep the clutter off the floor for best vacuuming. This human factor is really keeping the house looking clean. 8.) Disappointed that the Roomba 980 cannot get under our sofas as I saw in a couple of YouTubes. So periodically we will still need to bring out the vacuum cleaner. 9.) Addressing the elephant in the room, this unit is expensive. But at $100-200 for a cleaning service each month, I am already seeing that the unit is going to save money (even if we break down and purchase a second unit) and the house is already cleaner than when we had a cleaning lady. 10.) The unit automatically adjusts the intensity as it moves between hardwood and carpeted floors. Unfortunately, when it is going over the carpets it is as loud as a regular vacuum cleaner. So, you don't want to run it while your favorite TV series is playing...this comes back to my earlier recommendation to run it during the day. 11.) The spot cleaning feature is interesting. The Roomba 980 weighs less than our old vacuum cleaners, so it is easy to pickup the unit and drop it in the center of a mess and then engage the spot cleaning. But I have to confess we generally just grab the old vacuum cleaner (old habits) 12.) The documentation says to clean the filters and rollers regularly. After only 3 weeks of usage it is quite clear that you MUST take their recommendation seriously. If the filter gets clogged the incredible cleaning ability possible with the unit reduces. Good news it is easier to clean the Roomba 980 than any other vacuum cleaner we have owned (including the dyson). 13.) Lastly, with all the cat on the roomba videos out there I was expecting to see one of the cats try to catch a ride. The reality is they can't be bothered with the unit and generally just ignore the roomba while it is working. Now if we only can get an iRobot which can clean the bathroom and do stairs.

We were skeptical of an electronic vacuum, however our fears were quickly relieved. The 980 was extremely easy to set up, the only problem was waiting for a few hours for it to charge! The unit worked extremely well; even after we vacuumed it picked up 3 full bins of dust (we don't have pets). Immediately we weren't sure if we could live without it. We did read that some people felt that it was too loud. Please remember that it is still a vacuum, it isn't silent. We didn't mind the noise level at all, but it is louder when on carpet; so if you have a lot of carpet it could be distracting. The unit was mesmerizing to watch and just when you were disappointed that it wasn't going to do an area in a room (because it will travel somewhere else) it always came back and did every inch. How nice to have something to do under beds and furniture high enough for it to get under! The unit has obvious drawbacks that I'm not sure can be changed. It is a round unit so it cannot perfectly clean a corner and it obviously isn't dusting your baseboards. Despite those issues, I'm certain it is doing a better job than me and decreased my vacuuming chore time. Full disclosure is that I did return the unit. The 980 for us has 2 major issues. #1 You can set it via the app to continue vacuuming even if the bin is full, however I don't know why you would choose that option. If you set it to return to the base when the bin is full, you have 90 min. to empty the bin (it will send you a text!) in order for the unit to return to where it left off. If you don't empty it by the 90 min. limit it will start all over again doing rooms that were just done. This is a pain because we really wanted to have it vacuum while we were not home, but due to this issue it was not possible. #2 Unless you use the room blocking posts or close doors, this unit vacuums the entire level of your home. We wanted to have the unit out of the way in a spare room, but while the bedrooms don't need vacuumed every day, the kitchen surely does. This unit does not allow us to schedule specific rooms. We had the unit for 10 days and returned it due to the release of the new Roomba i7plus. This unit fixes both of our issues. It returns to its base when the bin is full and empties itself. You only have to empty the big bin (a vacuum bag) every 30 times that it empties itself and the dust will be self contained. Also, this unit remembers and maps your home which allows you to vacuum your whole home once per week, but specific rooms every day if you want. We don't have the unit yet (it will be released to stores on 9-26), but all of the reviews of the product are positive so far. Fingers crossed we will love our new Roomba!

I was a bit skeptical of a robotic vacuum at first, more so when I saw the prices. As time kept slipping away & more & more junk on my floors kept accumulating, I came to realization that I needed something to help with vacuuming because I just despise dragging out the vacuum & the cord and all the fun stuff that comes along with it. If I'm going to buy something, I go big or not at all. So, I bought the irobot 980, on sale for $800...lol, still very pricey but let me tell ya. I was going to be happy if the irobot would have done an 80% job. I'm pretty OCD. Well wouldn't ya know, this thing is honestly doing about 99% of the job. Its very cool watching it. Don't judge the irobot from it's first vacuuming, I think it took about 3 times for the vacuum to figure out my house. After that, it was very cool watching it and I felt relieved & amazed at the same time that I no longer had to vacuum, just empty out the bin once a day. The 1% it lacks is in the corners, maybe about and inch it doesn't get, big whoop, I can live with that! It's also pretty quiet, at least on hard surfaces but when it goes onto carpets it really picks up the suction & it does get louder. Nothing, I can't deal with. After-all it's a vacuum, if it was always super quiet, I know it wouldn't be doing its job, it;s impossible. Plus, I didn't buy this vacuum so it would clean when I'm home so, it's perfect. It takes about 2 hours to clean my entire house. I make sure things are up & off the floor so it can get everything, easy enough to do. When it is done cleaning, it sends me a text on my phone saying the irobot successfully completed a job. If I forget to empty the bin, it will send me a text when the bin is full & that the irobot went back to it's charging base until I empty the bin out. To sum this all up, bite the bullet & buy yourself this little vacuum, you'll be quite amazed, as I know I was. I can't speak about the less expensive models but they're all built on the same platform so, I'm sure it will do what it says it will do. You get what you pay for. I am very pleased & I very rarely write reviews but I thought this was in need of a review for the curious buyer from an OCD person such as myself. A++++ in my books!

We’ve had our Roomba 980 for about a month now and couldn’t be happier with the performance. I had just put hardwoods in and decided that it would be a good investment just to keep my wife from going crazy sweeping all of the time. We have a 7 year old and a dog and cat along with the normal Home dust. It does an amazing job keeping the floors clean. Some of the reviews people complained about the dust bin being somewhat small and it is, but not that small for the size of the unit. I can get a full downstairs clean and 2 passes (only place we use it) without having to empty. The more it’s used the less dirt you have to worry about. I do clean it out after every use which is recommended. We have it scheduled to run every other day. I’ve had no issues and really don’t plan on it. It is awesome at maneuvering around chairs, couches, tables etc. The first time I used it I must have watched it for about 40 minutes absolutely amazed at how it moved around the house. We have shag area rugs that it can not get onto, but does clean the edges. All of our other regular floor runners it cleans just fine. Keep in mind it is not meant to replace your regular vacuum, but does great maintenance work. I have not used it on the carpet upstairs yet so I cannot comment on that. If I do I’ll come back and post an update. You can download the app and control it from your phone which is also great. I did a lot of research, watched independent utube reviews etc. For me it was worth it. We love “Nigel” (it’s name). I have no problem recommending this to people that don’t mind the price point. More importantly my wife is happy and as you may know....happy wife, happy life. Go ahead, pull the trigger, for hardwoods at least you won’t be disappointed.

My cat ran away instead of climbing on the Roomba, but that's the only complaint so far. I have an open concept living/dining/kitchen that is oddly shaped. The roomba does eventually get the entire space but not in any order that makes sense to me. I've used the accessories to limit the space it vacuums with great success. It does struggle with the curve of my kitchen cabinets, not going along the under cabinet molding - it likes to zig zag back and forth. So I reached down and moved the schmutz into its path once or twice. No big deal to me! It vacuums successfully and is easy to clean. The charge lasts about 90 minutes.

After a lot of research and despite the significantly higher price, I purchased the 980. We have been very pleased with its performance and it handles the entire downstairs of my house (approx. 1700 sf) on one charge. I can also undock and take it upstairs to do that floor as well. Surprised at how much dust and dog hair (short hair breeds) it picks up. The vacuum pattern still makes no sense but does cover quite well (carpet, tile and wood floor) and does manage to find its way back to home on its own. Only issues: dust bin does fill up quickly and is a challenge to wipe down all the sensors; and we have 1 hall carpet runner it just does not have ability to climb onto. Other oriental and floor rugs are no problem. This unit is saving my wife at least 1-2 vacuuming periods a week. Since we did not buy any other unit, nor able to see any of the competition in action at Best Buy, I cannot opine if it is the best on the market for the money. But am happy with it. Note, I did buy the extended warranty (beyond 2 years as per prior reviews, if the Roombas fail, they do so inside 2 years). Warranty provides for full replacement.

Thought i wasnt going to like it because of some bad reviews but its awsome! All you have to do is follow the instructions ans you'll have no problems, it doesnt get stuck unless you have a verry odd structure or loose carpet, it cleans very very well, i keep it on low suction mode so the battery lasts longer wich is all you need to maintain a clean carpet and the pattern it leaves looks like it was done by a regular sized vacume, i was impressed! It also gets smarter every time i use it! The only thing i wish was different is that it had a bigger dirt bin, but it gets through an entire house clean on one bin, i just have to empty it after 1 full cleaning cycle and i have no problems, my house is 1700 square feet. But if you have the extra money go for the 980, its worth it!
