    We really had high hopes for the Neato after watching many pro reviews online. I purchased this vac yesterday and within three hours was purchasing a Roomba. First for the Neato, it would not connect to the app or broadcast it's temp SSID. I tried on my Android, my wife's iPhone, and her iPad. I spend an hour on chat with support only to be walked through the troubleshooting steps that are already online and eventually telling me I would need to wait until they could discuss my case with a wireless engineer. I told them forget it, I was taking it back for a Roomba. That wasn't the only issue. 20 mins into the first clean, something starts making a grinding sound like something is caught underneath and it is dragging it across the floor. I check for obstructions, empty the bin, and it's still there -- never went away. The Neato jammed on the are rug fringe and quit. It also got stuck between the legs of a tripod lamp for 5 minutes. The Roomba has had no issues with either area. We bought this so it can run while we are out. If the Neato need constant supervision, then what is the point? I am generously giving it 2 stars because where it did clean, it cleaned pretty well, but there are way too many issues to confidently believe it can carry out that task successfully over an entire cycle.

    I have used Neato for a few years now and decided to upgrade from my last one after the battery wouldn’t hold a charge. I believe that model was a D80 and didn’t have any issues until needing to replace the battery. Jump forward to this year... I upgraded to this much more expensive robot for the WiFi connected, app enabled robot. Terrible decision for one VERY simple reason. The dustbin is only held in place by gravity... smart design choice Neato! The main reason this is such a bonehead move is that the button used to indicate that the dustbin is in place will not stay engaged because the weight of the plastic dust bin cannot press down the button. The suggested fixes are: 1) take the robot apart and shorten the button throw 2) take the robot apart and clean or re-solder the contacts 3) drill through the robot case and dustbin and attach with a screw... I mean..... what a giant disappointment! So here I sit writing a review for a product that I might not be able to get a return for, trying not to smash the robot for catharsis, and re-evaluating my spending decisions. This model is simply not worth it, and the design decisions make me question the company entirely.

    Bad battery connection design

    I'd give it a zero if that option was availablel. We've had the Neato about 13 months, ran fine until about a month ago. Started getting a message to open the dust bin and turn it on. Huh? Hadn't turned it off. Neato says batteries are good for only 6 months, and the message means replace the battery. Ordered a new battery. Bad mistake throwing money at the problem The Male connectors are six tiny little pins, smaller than a needle. The female connectors are barely big enough to take the pins. Hard to describe, buth the extra area to make connection and the wire holding the female connectors so short make it difficult to line up the six connections. It is really difficult to tell if connection was made, even though the power light alternately show orange & green. Menu is unresponsive, it beeps and goes about an inch or two, then quits. The engineering design for the battery connection is horrible.

    Best vacuum cleaner ever

    I have been using a Roomba for over 4 years and thought nothing can beat it. After it broke down, I purchased this Neato and I am surprised technology has changed so much in just 4 years. This is the best vacuum cleaner, you won't regret it.

    I was really excited about this Neato or as my family ended up naming him, Darth Vader. My husband got me two robot vacuums for Christmas, so we could compare and decide which we liked best. The Neato had a random cleaning pattern - didn't finish one room before moving on to the next. It fits under couches and other furniture, but then gets stuck under there EVERY TIME. So what is the point of this feature, if it doesn't even work well. It never once made it back to its charging base - even after we tried moving the base to different rooms and putting the Neato directly in front of the base, it still couldn't find it. I was really hoping Darth Vader would work well, since we have quite a few furniture pieces that sit higher and need to be cleaned underneath. However, this just isn't the machine for that. The other robot vacuum is a Samsung AKA Luke. It doesn't fit under the furniture, but its suction is better, it makes it back to the charging base every time, has a distinct and thorough cleaning pattern, and doesn't bump into and try to climb up your furniture. There was definitely a clear winner in our robot vacuum battle. Darth Vader didn't stand a chance.

    I have 2 cats and 2 dogs, this thing makes my life so much easier. It works great. We had an issue with one of the sensors and their customer service was amazing. I highly recommend the botvac.

    Nothing but problems

    I have only had the unit for about a week and have had nothing but problems. I am Either receiving error code 2009 of things in the way when in fact they are not, or the unit won’t return to its base or even clean my home. I have contacted customer service and at first they were helpful, but it has been difficult for a response. They finally told me they would send me a new unit, but then shortly thereafter wanting me to try more things, which of course do not work. I’m now outside the return time to Best Buy, so it’s a waiting game with customer service. Why frustrated to say the least.

    Cheap electronics that don't last

    Great vacuum, when it works. Which won't be long. I've now had 2 of these and the first one made it 12 months before the laser guidance system failed, making it useless. Neato warranted that unit and after 3-4 weeks without a vacuum, I got a brand new one, which was great for 5 months till it had the exact same problem. Neato's response this time, I'm out of warranty on the original purchase, so I can pay to have my unit repaired. With the same cheap electronic components that were in the first two? No thanks. Do yourself a favor and find another vacuum that will last longer than 6-12 months. Google neato botvac LIDAR PROBLEMS and you'll find some good reading about how consistenly this little robot has this laser problem. Sadly, Neato won't be around long if they don't get it fixed. Honestly, it did vacuum well when it worked, but my cost of ownership was $50 a month. I should have just hired a housekeeper.

    Waste of money

    This botvac was purchased as a Christmas gift. It worked well for approx 6 months before issues began. By 8 months was no longer working, after U-Tubing multiple troubleshooting options, customer service was contacted as it was still under warranty. After 1 month of emails was finally sent to warehouse to be worked on. Botvac came back for 1 day and the wheels stopped working. 1 more week of emails with customer service, finally sent back to warehouse and worked on--(vacuum now out of commission for 2 months). Once returned the 2nd time, vacuum worked but could never find charging station regardless of re-starts and moving charging station. Both my husband and I would try to come home during the day so we could manually place back on charger and then re-locate to another part of the house to clean (this defeats the purpose of an automatic vacuum). As of this morning now new alerts are going off and we are done! If you have pets and/or children and a large space to clean this IS NOT THE VACUUM FOR YOU. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

    This was a great product at first but after a few months the battery quick charging every now and then until it completely quick charging. Completely dead after one year, warranty over. Don't buy it.

    Run far away

    I had 4 of these over a year. Last one just failed. Out of warranty now. Various hardware failures caused units to not work. The sensors are cheap This last failure is the very common start and stop. Look online and yiou will see lots of failures not fixable. Quite honestly, probably the worst thing I ever bought. It did work when it wasn't broken.
