Why did I not have this sooner? It is a great product and very easy to use. We used it to make pork chops and hot dogs. The whole family loved it. The grill is very easy to get going, wait 6 minutes, and you are ready. The food tasted great and it is very easy to clean. The packaging was great and the instructions while in several languages were straight forward. The best feature is it was virtually smokeless. An indoor grill that does not smoke up your house. We are so excited to make more food with this grill. If you grill then there should be no other choice. Very happy.

The Philips - Avance Collection Indoor Electric Grill - Black is designed to be the closest thing to an outdoor grill than any other indoor grill on the market. I have been using the George Foreman indoor grills for years, but they are not true grills in the sense of the concept of a grill. They are simply two induction plates that get hot and form a sandwich effect on the meat being cooked. The Philips - Avance Collection Indoor Electric Grill - Black is designed to produce a similar effect to the conventional charcoal or gas grill that is used outside of the home. The meat is separated from any metal heating it up and hot air from infrared lights supply the heat similar to charcoal or propane gas grill. The meat cooks well and is very juicy, not dry as sometimes can happen with outdoor grills. Cooking time is not long, but I did notice smoke traveling outside of my kitchen into other rooms. Adequate ventilation is a must when using the Philips - Avance Collection Indoor Electric Grill - Black. The first thing I grilled was ground beef. I had to try a burger with grilled onions. It was delicious, tender and juicy. Grill marks were evident and it had me smiling from the taste and texture of the burger. Next I had to grill chicken. The chicken was grilled crispy on the outside, but juicy on the inside. There was no blood dripping, because the Philips - Avance Collection Indoor Electric Grill - Black cooks everything at the right temperature to ensure a full done product. The only difference between cooking with the Philips - Avance Collection Indoor Electric Grill - Black and a charcoal/wood chip grill is the smoke from the charcoal/woodchips producing flavorful smoke that adds to the meat. The Philips - Avance Collection Indoor Electric Grill - Black is better than your propane gas grills, because your food does not have that gas taste. I have retired all of my George Foreman grills and will be using the Philips - Avance Collection Indoor Electric Grill - Black from now on!

Overall the grill is very nice. Nice sturdy construction, nice metal cooking grates with stay cool handles. You can have the grill out of the box and cooking food in about 5 mins (after wiping down the cooking surfaces of course.) Heats up very fast, but does have a limited temperature limit as expected. It took about 5 mins for the grill to heat to a temp capable of cooking hot dogs, and maybe 10 mins for burgers (to get the metal grill hot enough.) Cooking time seemed a bit longer than expected, but once done the food was just fine. All of the grease drips away into the bottom pan which then simply slides right out for super fast cleaning. It also has a Stay Warm setting, so if you're done cooking but need to let the food sit for a bit, you can keep a steady warm heat underneath. And as advertised, little to no smoke at all, which makes it perfect for indoors. So it makes this grill perfect for winter months, or maybe apartment or condo owners. Even would be great as a tailgate grill if your car has an outlet or can power an extension cord. Simply plug this thing in and you're good to go.

The Philips indoor grill is a decent option for simple indoor grilling. I was generally pleased by the results of the food I grilled during my testing. [ Pros ] - The infrared lamps leave meat more tender than fire grills do. - The infrared lamps provide more consistent heating for a smooth grilling experience, lacking the hot/cold zones and flare-ups of fire grills. - Angled placement of the infrared lamps reduces smoke generated from grilling. - Cleanup is simple, aided by light-weight non-stick grill grid and removable drip tray. - Good size for grilling on a counter-top. [ Cons ] - The infrared lamps produce blinding red light that, thanks to their angled placement, get direct access to your eyes when you stand near the grill. This made it difficult to monitor the food I was grilling during my testing. - Lack of temperature control reduces grilling flexibility. I wasn’t able to control searing/charring as much I would have liked. - The reflector surfaces seem very prone to permanent damage. No amount of dish liquid or scrubbing was able to remove the grease burn spots generated by each grilling session. Presumably, the build-up of these spots will reduce the effectiveness of the lamps over time. - The handles on the grill grid do not provide sufficient insulation for bare-handed handling while the grid is still hot.

We really enjoy grilling outdoors, but sometimes weather doesn't permit. This indoor grill works well; heats up quickly and cooks evenly. It cleans up nicely, however, it doesn't fit well in our cupboards. I'd recommend measuring your storage cupboard space carefully before purchasing.

This is really solid. It has that grilled taste with the comfort of cooking inside. I cooked chops and chicken and it cooked the insides to perfection. It had virtually no smoke. It was easy clean up as it has a bottom tray you can pull out and clean. This definitely has replaced my old Foreman grill. It cooks with infrared technology to perfection!

I have mixed feelings about this, thought it'd be cool to be able to grill indoors in winter or if it rains but the list of "do nots" had me almost paranoid to use it. First the infrared light tells you not to look at it, well you have to to cook your food, so I wore sunglasses, it is very bright! Next don't put under a cabinet, well my counter space is small & I had it away from cabinets but they were very warm, so I was waiting for them to ignite. Don't put near a stove still or working. I made chicken & vegetables from their recipe book, the chicken was dry & I only cooked it as per directions. I cut the vegetables large like they said & half of them fell through the grates into the bottom. They took a long time to cook. Cleaning was easy, the tray slides out so you can clean it. The inside changed color after first use. It only smoked a little too, nothing like the George Forman grill smoked, plus it's a lot larger. Might give it another try but think I'll take it outside , which defeats the whole purpose.

    Cooking Indoors

If you can not grill out year round this is a great indoor cooker that makes it close to outdoor grilling when needed. Heats up fast, you can barley see any smoke even if grilling a fattier meat. Cleaning the removable parts is very simple however cleaning the inside walls is impossible to make look new.

The Philips - Avance Collection Indoor Electric Grill is a decent product that does what it is intended for. The "electric grill" is not a new concept, although Philips using a new infrared convection technology. For those living in colder climates who enjoy grilling or live in apartments, the grill will give you that outdoor charcoal grilled feeling without the smoke. I find that preheating up to 10 minutes on full power is important. This being said, the grill has a tendency to cook unevenly. It is also sometimes hard to tell if the food is completely cooked. I am not sure how long the non-stick surface will last. I find many "non-stick" surfaces deteriorate after a few uses. Cleanup is NOT easy, the grill tends to collect grease/fat on the sides. This requires some real scrubbing in hard to reach places.

I wouldn't consider this a replacement for my full-size grill on my patio, but it cooked a burger up decently and left grill marks on it. I will probably use this when I can't use my big grill, such as when it's pouring down rain or covered in snow (Ohio weather...).

Nice grill, cooks well. A little pricey but seems well made. Good for grilling when the weather is bad or too cold outside. Also good for apartments.
