But the battery completely died after only two years of use. Dyson has some serious issues to resolve with the batteries in the stick vacuums. This is the second one we've purchased that had a battery die after only two years.

This has been very disappointing.

Hair pickup great, battery sucks already

My battery run time has already decreased about half, only lasted the rated run time about a month. Glad I bough the extended warranty. Only had enough time to vacuum my sofa dog hair with it at this point now.

I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered a short run time with your Dyson V8 Absolute. Your vacuum will come with standard and Max power modes. Our cordless models also have a run-time enhancing light touch trigger which ensures battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed. The total run time will be up to 40 minutes.
In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using. Great vacuum for short periods of time

It would be nice if you could use the high setting and still have the same battery as in low setting. Great vacuum if you don’t have to use it for long periods of time.

Please keep in mind that the V8 offers plenty of suction on normal power to effectively clean your floors because of the motorized brush bar. Especially when used on bare floors as the MAX power is really only needed for tougher jobs and thicker carpeting. The powerful direct-drive cleanerhead removes ground-in dirt and pet hair from carpets, and self-adjusts to pick up dirt and debris from your bare floors.
Dyson V8 Animal also features two suction modes; MAX and standard. Please keep in mind that the V8 offers plenty of suction on normal power to effectively clean your floors because of the motorized brush bar. MAX power is really only needed for tough cleaning jobs. Also, while many do use Dyson cordless machines as their main vacuum at home, if you prefer a longer run time, we’d recommend one of our compact uprights or canister models.
