Customers are saying
Customers consistently note the Viva Collection 2.75 qt. TurboStar™ Analog Air Fryer's ease of use and cleaning, as well as its ability to produce juicy, flavorful food with little to no oil. However, some users mention the small basket size and limited capacity as drawbacks, finding it insufficient for larger families or meals. The air fryer's noise level during operation is also a point of concern for some customers. While many praise its performance, a few mention that the instructions could be clearer and that more precise temperature control would be beneficial.

Not worth it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this unit based on the reviews. Well I was very disappointed. I tried chicken strips. It took forever and dried out the breading. The only good thing was no smell.

Posted .Hi there,
We are truly sorry to hear that the product did not live up to your expectations.
Please note that all the following factors could have caused this issue. For instance, when the fat reducer is not in the pan while cooking fatty ingredients or that the pan still contains greasy residues from previous use or else that the food you are using has high-fat content.
We can appreciate how this must be disappointing, so if you'd like to discuss this further, please don't hesitate to get in touch at any time via social media or the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will provide you with the best assistance.
Kind regards,
Philips Consumer Care.

Great to have for any kitchen!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Cooks fast Cooks thoroughly Food comes out good Simple design Built solid Non-stick surfaces inside Easy to clean Cons: Does not turn off with basket out No lock on the basket while cooking No way to turn it off other than to unplug it - a timer that'd allow you to turn it back to off or pause it sure would have been nice Included recipes (only like 8 total) are a joke ... none were useful to me and in fact a couple of them you can't even do without the accessory baskets that are NOT included .. so you will need to use the Internet to find recipes or just trial and error your own recipes. The app is alright but disappointing as at first I thought it only had 12 recipes (clear the filters) The review: This appliance is a great appliance for any kitchen and a must have for anyone that is looking for an easy way to fry things - with air! It's built solid and out of the box you can tell it's built well just by how smooth the basket slides in and out and the overall weight of the machine. Now that is out of the way, let's get right to the food part of this. Out of the box it does a fine job of frying chicken, and french fries, and any other stuff which you might want to fry/cook with air. Just keep in mind that there is a limit of how much you can put in and you don't want the basket packed tight so air can't circulate. Outside of that, it's a cinch to use and the food comes out tasting good! The best part is it's faster than using the oven and a whole bunch cleaner and healthier than using a deep fryer. It's easy to use, but there are a few IMPORTANT things to note (which is why I gave it 4 stars)!! 1- The basket does NOT "lock" in so make sure it's not on the edge of a counter where a child could grab it or it could get accidentally get grabbed/pulled out. At the same time, don't run it right next to the wall as it does exhaust fairly warm/hot air. 2- This model is turned on/off by the timer ONLY! If the basket is pulled out (i.e. to shake up the food as some recipes might require) the machine still runs, and does not shut off. Again, it ONLY shuts off when the timer is out or when you unplug it ... While this is not a big deal if you just set the timer for the time it needs to cook either to finish or either the time you need to cook before you need to shake/stir up food, but, if it gets done early the only way to turn it off is to unplug it - which I was not impressed with as you can't turn the time back to turn it off so you just have to unplug it. In the end, it's not a huge deal if you plan cooking times right but it IS for sure a bit of a learning curve because of it's almost too simple design! 3- The included recipes and the companion app are a disappointment. There's very little in the way of recipes included in the box (in fact a couple require a different accessory basket that's not included) so, if you have questions or want to find certain recipes you probably will have more success checking the Internet or maybe the App. I wasn't impressed with the Air Fryer App for a good number of reasons but one right off the bat is it filters show it only shows 12 recipes. Be sure to clear the filter and you'll see about 212 recipes.... not all of them are what I'd use but some people might like them. Aside to these three things, this unit is great and I'd still recommend it but just say to keep those three things in mind when you go to use it!

Cooking made easy!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Philips Hot Air Fryer makes cooking much easier! Before getting this air fryer, I rarely cooked at home. As soon as I received the Philips Air Fryer, that all changed. I was eager to give it a try and loved how simple and fast it is to cook in this thing. One thing that I found extremely useful was the Philips Hot Air Fryer app. It has lots of great tips, recipes, and even instructions on how to properly clean the machine. This makes it that much easier to whip up a great meal. My son was in the kitchen when I first tried it, and he is someone who doesn't really eat meat, but he was also very excited that he had to try the fried pork-chop that I made. He liked it, so the Philips Air Fryer gets my approval! I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Makes great fries
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have been used to making frozen french fries in the oven which does an ok job but the Philips Fryer is much nicer and quicker to use. With the oven you have a 10 minute or so preheat but the nice thing about this is that it starts cooking right away. It cooks evenly and crispy as advertised. Have also tried it out with frozen onion rings as well and they turned out excellent. The Fryer is super easy to use and clean. I am looking forward to trying it our for other things and trying out some of the recipes included. The only con would be that the instruction manual was a little confusing at first in that instructions several pages into the manual referred back to illustrations that were on the inside cover.

Easy to Use and Great Results
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have not used a hot air fryer before and wanted to try something that was healthier but easy to use. Found this unit to provide that on both fronts. The fryer itself is sturdy, easy to care for and clean, and did a great job of air frying/cooking all types of meals. The receipies included are very easy to prepare and there is a companion smartphone app that will provide many additional recipies for meals, snacks and pastries that you can cook in this device. I dont really have anything to compare this unit to as it is the first one I have ever used but I am very satisfied with the results so far.

Works well and easy to clean
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've never owned an air fryer, so we thought we'd give this one a try. Thus far, we've only tried frozen french fries. They turned out exactly as advertised - small ones were crispy, larger (longer) ones were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Afterward, clean up is a breeze because the two parts that need cleaning are dishwasher safe (although they do take up a bit of room). Two reasons why I didn't give it 5 stars (and this likely applies to all air fryers): it takes a LOT longer than using oil to fry, and without oil, seasonings don't stick. Not really the fault of this specific model device though.

Nice and crispy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This air fryer does a great job with frozen items and producing a deep fryer experience of crunchiness. I'm still experimenting with fresh foods and getting the time and temps right. It's a little difficult with the temp knob being designed vaguely. A digital display for temperature control would be better. The size of the basket is decent. The volume of the basket is great. Wish it had a little more width and depth though. Overall I'm happy with it. It's really just a specific purpose convection oven. The app is nice but I found trying to manage the ingredients for a shopping list to be a bit cumbersome.

Love This AirFrier
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased some Sweet Potato Fries to try and they cooked in a shorter period of time than I expected. I did use a slight amount of oil and they came out perfect and tasted great. Cooking will never be the same. I'm going to try some muffins next. The food does have a healthier taste to it. This is definitely a less messier alternative. I am definitely a converted user of this product.

Clean "frying"
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This air fryer is works pretty well, it is fairly small and has non-digital controls, which actually makes it easier to operate. I find the frying basket is a little bit small, realized it says three or four people serving size for most foods. Depending on foods expect to serve 1 to 2. Nothing unique in the home frying world, small batches of food come out over a period of time. As for foods specifically, french fries cooked nice, took 12 minutes from a frozen state. Fried Plantains not so much, probably needed to be sprayed with a little oil prior. Frozen breaded ravioli's took longer than a regular oil based fryer. This is something you have to remember that for the most part this is not using any oil so the foods are not inundated with with oil to cook and they're not submerged in anything. Upside is foods are not greasy. does a pretty good job things don't turn out greasy. Basically this is a small little convection oven. Have not a get cooked any meats so far, there are mobile or tablet based apps to get ideas and helpful hints on what foods to cook. I wish it was a little bit larger but is good for one or two people. Only comes with one basket, you can buy other accessories, for instance to bake a small cake. Overall pretty happy with the unit it's compact and works fairly well. Pros: - "fried" foods with little grease. - handy, compact size - other cooking accessories available Cons: - low capacity fry basket - some foods take longer to cook than traditional frying.

Forget the oven
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What an awesome appliance! I was skeptical at first when I received this from Best Buy. However, the fryer is absolutely amazing and it will do pretty much any frozen fried food or reheat anything deep fried. I love the fact you can simply set the temp and the timer and simply walk away. The housing is very well built and solid. Cleaning is simple and easy.

Does what's expected, and does it well
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Air frying is a great concept, but I’ve always wondered about 2 important factors: performance and taste. This was really my primary focus as I was unboxing the Philips AirFryer. The AirFryer was well packaged – tight, with a heavier than usual cardboard imprint. It also has a little weight on it, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it weighed a little more than I expected. It is a very counter friendly device. I say that because it looks good (good ‘curb appeal’), and it has a small footprint, taking up minimum space. It is well built and feels sturdy. Also in the box: instructions, small cookbook, and a basket screen. The fryer basically comes fully assembled. You only insert the basket screen and it is ready for use. One reason this thing is sturdy is because of the design. You basically pull the basket and pan in and out of the front of the device. That mechanism is the only moving part on the fryer. It’s a very simple design that lends to both pros and cons (which I will mention). The instructions are pretty short and straight forward, but felt a little junky, for lack of a better word. That being said, I was up and cooking in no time. Place your food in the basket, slide it in, turn 2 dials, and action. One thing that bothered me was the size of the basket. It’s small, and that means you will have to stack your food (below the max line, of course) or cook in small batches. I decided to stack my first meal (pork chops) since they were thin. I also wanted to see how it would handle such a situation. The AirFryer isn’t very loud, and I believe that’s because the cooking area is enclosed (design). While cooking, I didn’t notice much smoke, but the smell was great. One issue, in my opinion, was that I couldn’t see anything. This would probably be ok if I hadn’t experienced other air fryers where I could see my food without opening it. The design is that of a standard deep fryer, which is ok, but not optimal. Once the time expires, there is a nice chime to alert that the cooking time has expired. Well, my chops looked good on top, but needed additional time underneath – which I figured might be the case. The fryer was really on point from a “frying” standpoint. The food on top was very crisp, but tender. I really think this is a product of the design – that very sealed approach to the cooking area. Whenever you stack anything, you run into layers of under cooked food. You will have to open the fryer mid cooking cycle and shake, flip, or stir. This is one of the things that makes this air fryer just like all the rest. The Philips AirFryer is a decent fryer that I would recommend to someone wanting to cook in small quantities on occasion. It really does an admirable job of delivering crisp “fried” foods, without the heavy oil. What holds is back is its small cooking area and the inability to stand out.

Limited Utility - Don't Think Of It As A Fryer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Philips Viva Collection Hot Air Fryer is a small convection cooker - it circulates hot air continuously (and powerfully) around the enclosed food. You certainly can't use it for "air fried" fried chicken the way most people think of fried chicken and even french fries pale in comparison to oil fried fries. It works well in the service of heating frozen foods designed for oven cooking (including frozen fries!) - actually I think it works better than the oven for frozen choices. But with limited utility, it might not be worth having something this large hanging out in your kitchen. The documentation is very bad - and for some recipes, the manual, the official Youtube demonstrations, and the associated app give three different versions of ingredients and temperatures and times.
