Customers are saying
Customers consistently note the Roomba 890's effectiveness in cleaning pet hair and its ability to keep hardwood floors dustless. They also appreciate its user-friendly design, long battery life, and scheduling function. However, some users have expressed concerns about the vacuum getting stuck, being a bit loud, and having a small bin that fills up quickly.

Save up and buy the iRobot 980 instead
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After spending a few weeks with our new iRobot 890, I can say we are all underwhelmed. Unfortunately, it's more of a interesting novelty for us and not a serious cleaning tool. It's biggest shortcoming is the very small dirt bin. We have hardwood maple floors that are vacuumed regularly and we were having to empty the 890's dirt bin several times a day. It's just not large enough for a regular sized home. The 890 is probably better suited for lighter jobs like small apartments with no pets. The 890 also doesn't seem to be very smart. It almost always has difficulty finding its way back to Home (the charging station) and so I frequently have to retrieve it and place it on the charger. I tried to discern a pattern to its cleaning scheme, but there was none. It just wanders aimlessly around bumping into things and changing directions. I'd like to say that I'm confident that it eventually cleans all areas of a room, but I can't. It's great that it has a cell phone app to control it, but after awhile all the notifications about the bin being full and the iRobot being stuck somewhere became annoying. I did like several features: 1. The cliff sensors work very well at keeping it from falling down the basement stairs. No problems there. 2. The rubber rollers do a wonderful job of picking up, yet not retaining pet hair. In that respect, they are a big improvement over rotary bristle brushes. Two thumbs up on that one. 3. For its small size the 890 has pretty decent suction. I was impressed with that. My recommendation to those thinking about investing in a Roomba iRobot is to skip this model 890 and plop down the extra bucks for an iRobot 980. That is supposed to be a very intelligent iRobot with a 2 hour run time suitable for larger homes.

I Named It!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a handy helper, so handy I named her Hazel. Connects to WiFi and the app makes it so convenient to start or stop. Will clean all rooms and areas and it's pretty thorough. Only issue, we have a dog that sheds a lot, so I have to empty Hazel every few minutes. I still love it, though. It takes over a task so I can do other things!

So cool
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would have never guessed how cool and useful this is. It works perfectly with the Android app but I have the Google Pixel so that might make a difference. It cleans my wood floors and with small children and tiny messes it super useful. I don't know what I did before this.

Out of this world
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as a tool to help cut down on daily sweeping and vacuuming duties. Was truly amazed as how much it picks up on hardwood and carpet. Does extremely well not getting tangled in loose charging cords and footwear laying around the house. Easy setup and programming that allows you to set up specific times when you need it to clean.

3rd Roomba, this is the best
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Roomba 700 series started getting a bit weird after 4 years of use. Purchased this one, and I pretty amazed at how much better it maps and cleans the house. It does a great job at getting small particulate that the 700 series always struggled with. Incredible upgrade

Great purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this for my wife for Christmas. Works like a champ! very quiet and does a great job. I like to the scheduler and job log on the phone app. I also like the fact that the Roomba will send me a message on my phone if it has a problem (stuck or bin full). We have hardwood and carpet on the main floor. We also have a lab that sheds like crazy. This unit cleaned up all the hair and the dust bunnies under the couch. If the unit comes to the stairs, it senses the drop off and backs up on its own. I am very happy with the unit and would recommend to anyone. My only complaint is you must remember to empty after every job (maybe get away with two jobs)

It vacuums, but it is more a toy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought it after reading multiple reviews. To our surprise, this unit would only clean one room and a hall. It would not go down a hall or go further than about 30 ft from the base. It works, but it is hardly self directing. By the time you mess with it, you could have used a traditional vacuum and get a better result. Bought it on Monday and it was back to BB on Wednesday after about 4 hours of use.

Not compatible with GSD
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was under the impression that this was a model that would work for dog hair. Sadly I was mistaken, I would not recommend for long hair dog or multi-pet households. It continues to “clean” when after it is full, so it just drags hair and dirt all over the house, instead of stopping and waiting to be emptied. Mine keeps clogging up before the bin with dog hair, which makes it do almost nothing..... other than that I guess it’s okay. But wish I would’ve been advised by the guy at Best Buy that the 900+ series apparently will pause the cleaning cycle to be emptied. Probably will be chucking it in a closet and not use it.

Roomba for the win
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my roomba. I have had a roomba one way or other the last 7 years. I enjoy the app function on this one so I can start it when I am not even home. Works with Alexa too.

Good for someone who’s home all day
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I give it 3 stars because it does do a good job cleaning, only if you’re home to babysit. The dust bin fills up quickly. On average, I empty it 4-5 times during a clean. Also not impressed with the mapping technology. It cleans areas over and over and will be cleaning an area and all of sudden stop and go somewhere else without finishing that area. Usually takes about 6 hours to complete a clean. If I’m at work, it never finishes because the bin is full. Guess I need the I7, but it costs twice as much as a dyson.

Better get the extended warranty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked fine for a couple a few years Now it is in need or repair. No place locally repairs Roombs. The manufacturer expects one to be able to self-repair the machine or got on YouTube and watch tutorial. I spent several hours with the self-help tutorials. Donated it to Goodwill this morning. $660 for for 2.5 years. Do the math!

Barely used
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received for mother’s day, used it twice, it’s now saying there’s an error and to clean to dust bin, extractors and brushes. Took it completely apart it’s all clean, no dust, sensors are clear. Should not be malfunctioning like this for the price.
