Light and Practical
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The design of the Shark ION X40 would not win any beauty contest but it certainly deserves an A+ for portability. You just remove it from the stick and use it as an efficient handheld vacuum. Much more practical than wands when vacuuming couches, car seats and other surfaces. It is also very skinny which is great to store away. Good suction power and it worked very well on the hardwood floor of our living room. I believe the soft brush helps with that type of floor because it did a better job than another vacuum I own even though that one is wired and has stronger suction. At least in this case, stronger did not translate as better. The ION X40 wins here, especially around corners. The battery charge runs out quickly. In a big house like mine, it is not very practical if I am planning to vacuum every room at once with it. I would have to stop a couple of times or more to charge it, which takes a while. It may not be an issue for smaller houses. One solution for bigger house is to have a spare battery but that adds a considerable cost. Since I have and use another Shark for heavy vacuuming and use it about once a month, the Shark ION X40 is perfect to maintain or clean areas that get dusty faster. Again, it is very practical and lightweight. Combine that with it being cordless and you have a winner.

Cordless vacuum that really sucks!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've been using the cordless vacuums for years. I don't like the bulk of a pluggable vacuum and don't see the value. Most quality cordless vacuums today will pickup good enough to care for your floors and carpets. With that said, there is a cordless vacuum on every floor. The brushes are really strong on carpet setting and I feel it smacks and sucks the carpeted areas for a very good cleaning. On the hardwood and tile floors the extra front roller seems to grab the crumbs into the sucker and not just spread them around with the moving air like my other vacuum did. The vacuum is pretty strong - surprisingly for battery and more so than I thought it would be. The runtime is more than enough to capture the main floor areas on a routine basis. The Lion battery means that the charge is intelligently controlled and holds a high output until the end of its cycle. Carpets have a life and if you are worried about deep cleaning your carpet with any vacuum to extend that life, it just isn't going to happen. This vacuum meets the needs to clean carpets and floors good - not just basic. I see no difference or value in ever going back to a full sized corded vac with the technology like this Shark Vac of today. I'd recommend this vacuum to cut the cord like we are all doing now-a-days. You won't regret it.

Excellent Power for a Cordless Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most cordless vacuums I have used lack two things: Battery life and suction power. The Shark Ion X40 does not have either of those problems. First, it was easy to assemble taking less than 5 minutes before I was up and running. It didn't take long to fully charge it right out of the box. My first test run lasted a good 10-15 minutes and I didn't experience any loss of suction power. I'm sure I could have run it for much longer if needed. It seems like battery life will be solid and is advertised to last 40 minutes in handheld mode. Regarding the suction strength, while it is decent in regular mode, turbo (Ion) mode may be needed at times for heavier jobs. This will drain the battery more quickly though so I tend to only use it here and there. But when its activated you can easily tell the difference. When activated it has better power than any cordless vacuum I have seen. The only downside to this vacuum is the price. If you can afford it, go for it, as you won't find a better cordless option.

Love this thing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple Review: Great vacuum with decent suction that can last as long as competitors on a charge. I would recommend it. Extended Review: Un boxing gives you everything you need except screws for the mount. Something I'm finding Shark Products do a lot but an easy fix. Past that we get into performance and this thing , for lack of a better way to say it, sucks! This perfect in my mostly carpet house and the convenience of just having it on the wall ready to go makes it worth the cost. My small gripe would be to ask for a longer lasting battery but even the competition lasts about the same or worse but luckily you can by an addition battery pack so you can just swap them which I would recommend if your house is over 2000 sq ft. All in all great vacuum and I hope my review may have helped a little bit.

Great Vacuum for Quick Messes and Fast Cleaning
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark ION X40 cordless vacuum is a great, powerful unit that cleans all floor surfaces. It’s power does a great job pick vacuuming up messes and it is versatile enough to vacuum a whole room. Works great on carpet, tile, and hardwood. On great feature is that you don’t have to hold down a trigger to vacuum. There is an on/off switch. This is great for folks with arthritis as you don’t have to hold down a trigger to work the vacuum. If you need a portable vacuum that is powerful to clean any mess you throw at it, this is it. Stores in a small space, quickly charges, and is always ready when you need it.

Cordless Convenience!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, I love the size of the handle of this vacuum cleaner! I have very large hands, and every hand held I’ve ever tried was only large enough for me to insert three fingers into the handle. Having said that, I could see it being a minor problem for people with smaller hands. Especially so, because the (large) battery pack is contained in the handle, which adds more weight. This unit has large brushes that I would assume, help provide deep cleaning of your carpets. Compared to its more expensive contemporaries, it doesn’t deep clean carpet as well as the others. But it is much less expensive, so... There is the ION Boost function that allegedly helps with deep cleaning, but for some inexplicable reason, it automatically cuts off after 60 seconds unless you press and hold the button to enter manual mode. It does do a nice job on hardwood floors, however. A really nice job! The battery claims up to 40 minutes of cleaning time, and I came pretty close to that, so, I was able to do every room in my townhouse. It’s a good thing, because it takes a while for this puppy to completely recharge. Like, hours! I also didn’t like the way this thing kept locking up when it became upright while using it. But it was simply a matter of unlocking it with my foot to continue. This is a nice vacuum cleaner. There are better options available, but probably not at this price point. For the money, it’s a decent option.

Great vacuum for the price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I have two little kids that eat allot of Cheerios and have two short hair dogs and the duo brush does amazing compared to others that just kick the Cheerios out the back. My only complaint is that it uses so much power on the two brushes I feel it takes away from the suction. I also have a Dyson stick and even though it’s better on carpet ( because it has more suction) this vacuum is way better on flat floors like wood or stone. It also does a nice polish job on the wood.

Nice But Heavy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum works perfectly for large and small areas. The separate battery is a great feature so I can buy more batteries if I need to. The only downside is that it's heavy. It's great for the floors and the weight isn't a problem but if you want to do overhead cleaning like drapes or vents on the ceiling, it's very heavy to hold.
