    Very Well-Designed Cordless Vacuum

There is a lot to like about this Shark Cordless vacuum, It cleans pretty good, it is easy to empty the dustbin, it is easy to charge the battery, and it is fun to use. The convenience of cordless in vacuums, definitely makes the task of vacuuming quite a bit easier. I have always found vacuuming to be an important task, this is because I own several computers, and computers do end up getting their fans clogged with dust after a while. When the dust from the carpets and floors is vacuumed up, this removes the dust that would otherwise end up clogging up the fans on computes. This shark vacuum attaches easily to the base, and it lifts off quickly with a simple button press, once this Shark vacuum is in lift away mode, it is ready to be used to clean furniture or drapes, or even taken to a vehicle to clean the seats and floors. The hose on this Shark vacuum is really thick and durable, it feels like it should last a long time without the hose ever tearing, like a thinner hose would be more inclined to do. I am mostly disabled and have difficulties walking, and so this cordless vacuum is a bit on the heavy side for me to carry in the lift away mode, but this is only because of my worn knees and hips. I own another cordless vacuum which is a bit easier to use because it is lighter and turns a bit easier, but this Shark vacuum does clean the hard floors in my apartment slightly better than my other cordless vacuum. This Shark cordless vacuum has what they call the DuoClean technology, this means that it has two brushrolls, and the two brushrolls are effective at loosening more of the dust on the floor, so that the suction can pick up the dust. The lithium battery, the charger, and charging base that comes with this Shark vacuum, is a really nice kit. The lithium battery has a unique design, it is a series of 8 batteries assembled in a cylindrical battery assembly, and the battery has venting that keeps the battery from getting too hot. It is nice to be able to charge the battery multiple ways, it can be charged while it is on the vacuum, the battery can be removed from the vacuum and placed in the charging cradle, and the charger can be plugged directly into the battery. The batter itself is actually quite weighty, when it is placed into the battery slot on the lift away section, then the lift away vacuum assembly weighs several pounds. When I was unboxing this Shark vacuum, I was in the process of familiarizing myself with the vacuum in lift away mode, and I was holding the handle of the vacuum, of which the handle is the top of the dustbin which attaches to the vacuum section containing the motor. I found out the unfortunate way not to press the dustbin release levers while holding only the handle, as the whole vacuum section will drop, which is what happened to me. The whole vacuum section tumbled to the ground and ended up breaking a piece of plastic before I even got to use the vacuum. Seems like building the handle directly into the top of the dustbin is not the greatest of design, but once this is known, this mishap is easy to avoid. The wheels on this Shark vacuum are really sturdy, and the wheels roll over hard floors nicely. The power on and off switch being located on the handle is really convenient, there is no need to bend over and press a power button on the vacuum base itself. Next to the power button is two other mode buttons, the hard floor mode actually has an increased vacuuming suction level and a reduced brushbar speed, while the carpet mode has a decreased vacuuming suction level and an increased brushbar speed. This vacuum also has a turbo mode which is quite useful at times, I use it when the vacuum approaches the front of a countertop, or the front of a chair, or anywhere that dust builds up. When in upright vacuuming mode, the turbo button initiates the turbo only while the button is being held. The turbo button has a different function while the vacuum is in lift away mode, which is that the turbo button being pressed once, puts the vacuum into turbo suction mode, and it stays in turbo suction mode until the turbo button is pressed again, which switches the vacuum back to normal suction mode. The width of the cleaning head on this Shark vacuum is 10 inches, which is a bit less wide than some other vacuums, but I believe the cleaning head was purposely designed with a lesser width, because of it being cordless. If this Shark vacuum had a wider cleaning head, it would have required a bigger brushbar, and this would have caused the battery to last for a shorter period of time. The less wide cleaning head is just fine, and it does allow the vacuum to fit into some tighter spaces that a wider cleaning head would not fit into. I feel as if this vacuum is priced about right, as more expensive vacuums are often made of a more premium plastic. With that said, most vacuums are made with a similar quality of plastic to this Shark vacuum, but most vacuums are not quite as well designed. The LED lighting on this Shark vacuum is quite bright, and it easily illuminates the cleaning path, even if vacuuming in a darkly lit room. My apartment has hard floors, and so I only had the opportunity to test this Shark vacuum on flooring with no carpets, I am not too sure if this vacuum would roll over carpets as well as it does on hard floors. I only have a medium sized apartment, but the lithium battery has a fairly large capacity, and I am sure this Shark cordless vacuum could easily clean all the floors in a 4 bedroom residence quite easily before needing to be recharged. I was surprised when I first powered on this Shark vacuum that the motor has a quality sound to it, the vacuum’s motor is fairly quiet, and it does not have the cheap wining sound that most $100 vacuums usually have. I am rating this Shark vacuum at 4 out of 5 stars, and I would suggest this vacuum to anyone who wants a well-designed and versatile cordless upright vacuum.

Tgis Shark is a beast! Picks up debris like a magic. Battery is good enough to finish vacuuming 2 rooms until battery needs a charge. Lift-away feature is advantage makes job easy. Front light is equipped providing better visibility. Boost mode is always on if its on stick mode but lift-away and upright mode you need to hold down the boost mode. Overall is a beast in terms of power and portability and external battery charger but its a bit pricey.

Most Versatile Of All Shark Vacuum Lift-Away Duos

This Shark Ion Cord-Free Powered Lift-Away is most impressive in what kinds of cleaning I can do with it and the places I can take it. After three weeks of general house cleaning, floors and dusting, with this Shark I am absolutely amazed at how well-designed and mobile this unit is. It does almost all of my cleaning tasks, both inside and outside of my house. Here is what I love about its versatility: In Upright Vacuum Mode: * Floor Cleaning – The very first time I used this Shark I filled up the half-gallon dust cup in less than fifteen minutes. And, I thought my floors were pretty clean before I started. Yikes! I was able to vacuum all the carpeting in my Family Room, Living Room, Dining Room, and the hard-surfaced floors in my Kitchen and both Bathrooms before Sharkie needed to be re-charged. After re-charging I finished the Hallways, all three Bedrooms, and my Home Office too. I had to empty the dust cup a total of three times while vacuuming my whole house with this Shark in 'upright' mode. Oh' my. Since then, I now vacuum all my floors, every third day, which allows me to do my whole house on one charge. Not to mention that my floors, especially in high traffic areas, are much cleaner, when they are vacuumed much more frequently. WooHoo! The suction of this Shark is outstanding compared to my other corded upright unit. The added 'Boost' power feature allows me to get up stubborn debris when needed. It has Shark's Duo Technology, which is designed with a soft roller brush at the front for scooping in larger debris and polishing my hard-surfaced floors, and, a bristle brush behind it for heavy, penetrating, carpet cleaning. * Maneuverability – Because I have Arthritis I greatly appreciate the design of this Shark upright to easily steer and glide in any direction I choose. The effortless, swivel-steering allows me to guide this unit without undo stress on my wrists or hands. Since it is only ten inches wide it goes behind my furniture placed up against a wall. * LED Headlights, which helps me in vacuuming my floors in the dimmer and less-lighted areas of my house or behind and under furniture. * Versatile Upright – I can easily detach the Lift-Away canister from the Wand and Handle so that it allows me to clean under furniture and chairs (see pic). I can vacuum under furniture and chairs that have approximately three inches of clearance. What other vacuum upright can do that? YooHoo! * Selector Switch – I can change from carpet cleaning mode to hard-surfaced floor cleaning mode with the touch of the switch at the front of the handle. How convenient is that? * Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology® - It traps over 99.9% of dust and allergens inside the vacuum, keeping them out of the air I breathe. WooHoo! * Easy Maintenance – There are three 'coin-locks' on the bottom of the Duo Clean Floor Nozzle. Simply turning them counterclockwise unlocks the brush roll housing so I can thoroughly clean or remove any string, threads, hair, etc. caught in the carpet brush roll. I can remove the Soft Roll for cleaning by sliding the 'Eject Roller' button forward art the side of the floor cleaning unit. * Lightweight – This entire unit only weighs approximately twelve pounds when in 'upright' mode. What makes this Shark seem much lighter is because the carpet brush roll grips your carpet and makes the unit glide along your vacuuming path. In Lift-Away Vacuum Mode: * Click ON / Snap OFF Assembly – This Shark easily clicks together assembly pieces and separates cleaning components with just a push of the release buttons. Fast and super-easy. * Detachable Lift-Away – The Lift-Away canister is powered while attached, and, or detached. When I separate the Lift-Away from the main wand it allows me to dust or vacuum under furniture. I can also attach the wand and handle to clean above-the-floor areas, or, just the handle to dust shelving, counters, and vacuum furniture upholstery. But, what is the most amazing feature of this Shark is that I can take this Lift-Away canister outside and vacuum my car, floors and seats; clean my patio furniture and chairs; vacuum my workshop bench and floors in my shed, and, the upholstery and deck of my boat without ever having to be bothered by a troublesome cord. Fantastic! How cool is that? * Dust Cup – The dust cup can easily be emptied by squeezing the dust cup release tabs at the top of the Lift-Away unit to separate from the Lift-Away canister. It has two release buttons, one at the top and one at the bottom. The bottom release will empty the cup of debris, while the top release allows me to clean the lint screen. Because this vacuum is so efficient, the accumulated dust and debris is better disposed of while in an outdoor environment, if possible. This baby picks up lotsa' stuff – you will be impressed. * Charging – There are three ways to charge this unit. Using the provided A/C charging cord I can charge this Shark on the appropriate port at the top of the Lift-Away; In the provided charging cradle, or out of the vacuum. * Washable Filters – Both of the pre-motor filters in the Lift-Away require just plain water to rinse and clean. Shark recommends cleaning once-a-month. The Post-Motor Filter, which is a HEPA filter, Shark recommends cleaning at least once a year. * Attachments – Included with this Shark is a combination Crevice/Dusting Tool, Upholstery Brush, and Dusting Tool. What is unique about the Dusting Brush and Crevice Tool is that I can rotate them 360 degrees to get into tight spaces and vertical or horizontal cleaning. I have purchased the Multi-Angle Dusting Brush to reach areas as high as possible, so I do not have to use a step stool or climb a ladder. Wish It Had: * Extra Battery – To allow for longer duration of my cleaning tasks both inside and outside of my house. * On-Board Attachment Storage – When I am outside with just one attachment tool and unexpectedly need one of the others, it slows me down to go back inside to find the one I need to finish my vacuuming. * Carpet Brushroll Shutoff – On my hard-surfaced floors, both tile and wood, the carpet brush roll is not needed. Coupled with the smooth roller and powerful suction I do not see a need to keep the brushroll activated. * Longer Hose Reach – It would be more efficient to have a hose that stretches to double the length of this one for above-the-floor cleaning. The existing hose only stretches to around six feet. At twelve feet stretched out it would be much easier to use the Lift-Away canister for floor and above floor cleaning, too. None of the above-mentioned 'Wish-It-Had' is a deal breaker for me. In summary I highly recommend this Shark Ion Cord-Free Powered Lift-Away. It is the most versatile Shark DuoClean unit made. No cord, no hassle, and it goes anywhere, coupled with powerful suction for cleaning – what else can you ask for? This would make a great gift for newlyweds, Seniors, or that special family member or friend. Buy it – you won't be disappointed.

I'm a commercial cleaner for over thirty years. I purchased both the ion p50 and the dyson v8 from dyson. The winner is the ion p50. Pros: Longer battery life on regular mode and in my opinion better suction. The weight of the stick is on the bottom with is less fatigue on my wrist. The best part of the ion p50 is at the push of a button you can switch from carpet to hard floors.I had to bend down constantly to change the dyson heads;plus you have to carry the other head with you while cleaning. The battery is much easier to charge away from the stick.Just pull it out and put it on the dock charger. It also stands up by itself.ihad to lean the dyson on something so it wouldn't fall down.Lastly;i had no problem with just using the carpet mode on both carpet and hard floors. My job is all about my tools being easy to use and the ionp50 a great addition.

A Good Little Cordless Upright Vacuum

Shark’s new cordless upright vacuum is like a mini-Shark with a rechargeable, high-capacity Li-Ion battery. And while Shark got a lot of features just right with this cordless gem, it missed the mark in a few areas. From a design standpoint, this really does look like a reduced-format plug-in Shark. How nice that the small rechargeable battery (see picture) sits next to the debris collection canister - low enough on the vacuum to keep the center of gravity closer to the floor and making the vacuum easier to navigate. I love that the battery does not charge in the vacuum itself - it uses a small charging station separate from the vacuum so you don’t need to keep the larger unit close to an outlet. And with a smaller vacuum comes a smaller volume canister for collection but with enough capacity for several rooms. As you might expect, the power on a vacuum running off a smallish battery can’t compare to a more substantial AC vacuum, but the little Shark works pretty hard. And the battery will power things long enough to get through your whole house - the battery is quite impressive. Operation of the vacuum is easily negotiated using your thumb - power, floor/carpet, and a turbo mode are all switchable without moving your hand away from the handle of the vacuum. I happen to think that the turbo mode, which gives the vacuum temporarily increased power, would have been better as the default power for the vacuum - but maybe that’s just me. The floor/carpet switch prioritizes a bristle brush for carpets vs. a soft-roll brush for floors (the soft-roll is, I think, a new concept that helps collect larger debris from floors while buffing-off finer ground-in dirt). My biggest gripe with this vacuum, though, is how it handles hair (specifically dog hair). I found that the bristle brush immediately created a revolving tangle of hair - and the soft-roll bunched-up some hair of its own. Even the small wheels on the base got tangled in hair. I don’t have a problem like this with any other vacuum so I’m not sure how Shark let this problem go into production (see picture). But hair aside, this is a fine vacuum for small apartment dwellers and for touch-ups. I don’t think it would be a great choice for the only vacuum in a house, though.

Since I'm a floor guy and I'm strict about keeping my floors clean - I was eager to try the CORDLESS Shark ION P50. I'll admit - a little more assembly was required - there were 8-9 items in the box - and I thought this might be a little tricky - but a quick look at the directions for the order of installation and it went together in less than a minute! First off - I noticed there wasn't any on-board tool storage. You'll have to find a place to store those crevice and upholstery tools. That's a negative for me. Shark didn't disappoint though - pretty good suction from this thing and the 8" head also increases the suction versus the competitions 12" head. I also like it that it fits nicely on the stairs - making vacuuming them very easy. My favorite thing is the lift away feature - that turns this into a stick easily - making getting under the couch or bed simple and not something every vacuum can do. Nice work Shark! See picture. I used the vacuum on it's maiden voyage to clean the steps, vacuum up cat litter of a hardwood floor using the hard floor setting - no problems. That's usually my test - to see if it can pick up those dense little pieces of letter. The LED lighting works very well at assisting me in spotting those little pieces. I do like the lights! I'll also mention that I like the convenient power button location, mode change (carpet/hard surface) and Boost button (for a little more power in those extra dirty spots). What I didn't like is that after my first cleaning - I had to clean the brush underneath - as the carpet fibers or pet hair got caught up in the brush - see picture. Overall - nice vacuum - super convenient to use, quick recharge, ample dust capacity.

My house is @ 1100 square feet and this vacuum is perfect. When I get finished vacuuming all the rooms in my house which is 7 and this includes a small hallway there is still a little over half of a charge left in the battery. I did purchase a longer attachment to vacuum under cabinets and stove so I wouldn’t have to bend over so far. It cleans carpets, tile and wood floors very well. It small so doesn’t take up a lot of room in closet and is light weight. Very happy with purchase.

I did a lot of research when looking for a battery powered vac. I wanted something strong that would work on multiple surfaces that was easy to charge and lasted long. I checked out the dyson and other sharks and found this. It’s amazing. Easy to use and a bigger dirty tank then the competition . Battery charge is simple using on board charging if you want. All and all first impression is amazing. Now time will tell the rest

I was not so sure about a cordless vacuum, but decided to give it a try. I LOVE it. We have all Hardwoods. The battery is a perfect amount of time no one wants to vacuum longer than 50 minutes straight. It is so nice and easy not to have to unplug and plug-in a cord! The suction is much better than I was expecting and it is quieter than my Dyson.

This a great little vacuum. It hardly takes up any space but is very powerful and versatile to be a battery vacuum. The front roller does an amazing job of keeping the hard floors dusted and cleaned. Most of the time I don't even need to Swiffer the floor. Since the canister is removable and it is battery powered, it can easily be taken to places normal vacuums have problems getting to. Like your car. I have used it on carpet, while it isn't the most powerful vacuum, it has more than enough power to get the carpet clean. One issue with using it on carpet is that it will use up the battery a lot faster than on hard floors. I still think these fancy battery vacuums are overpriced and need to come down some but the abilities you get over a standard vacuum can sometimes make it worth it.... If you need those other abilities.

I have mostly tile floor and carpet in the bedrooms and two very large German shepherds. The battery lasts my whole 2200 sq. ft. house. I really like the light in front as it shows a lot more dog hair than I would see with the naked eye. I use it daily. Love it being cordless. And it’s not as loud as my other vacuums so I assumed it would be as powerful, but it is. I like the different ways it comes apart for couch dog hair messes, etc. Its only drawback is for the ion boost, you have to hold that button constantly to stay on.

I have always owned Shark vacs and as usual, this one didn't disappoint. The battery charges very quickly and I like that you can charge it either in the vacuum itself or with the included cradle. The battery is super easy to remove if charging in the cradle. It's perfect for my small space of RV living. I have very little carpet, but this is easy to adjust from hard floor to carpet by the buttons being right on the handle. I love the lift away feature to be able to carry around for vacuuming up smaller dusty areas. Also easy and convenient for vacuuming the car. Comes with all the attachments I need. Only con is there is no attachment holder with it.

There’s really nothing I can complain about this vacuum. Very light. The bin is a good size. This thing sucks up EVERYTHING. The extensions come in a box so they’re not all hanging in the vacuum. Only bad thing is you got 30 minutes to vacuum...and it take about 2 1/2 hours to charge. But you can always buy another battery that cost like $60. Honestly most convenient vacuum I’ve ever bought.

Here are the pros: the unit stands up on its own, EXCELLENT battery power and charging, great suction and the head is the hardwood/ carpet head all in one. It’s literally 1/3 the price of another name brand in its league. The con: not as stream line and not as appealing to the eye and when using the wand there is a hose attached that makes it not as user friendly as some. But that’s it. So far- an amazing buy and I don’t regret not spending $500 on a different brand.

My wife and I looked at a lot of cordless vacuums. I come across the shark p50 at our local Best buy store. I made my wife go to look at it with me and after looking at reviews we decided to spend a little more and buy the p50. We are very glad we did. Battery lasts long enough to do the hole house. It is very well balanced and picks up large stuff very well. The lift away part is very handy.
