    It's A Monster...

The name “NINJA Smart Screen Blender DUO with FRESHVAC Technology” is a monster of a name for a monster of a machine. It's big, bold, powerful, sturdy, and has many options for use. When you open the box, you’ll find lots of items to facilitate the Ninja’s many uses. There’s a 72oz. pitcher with some scary “Total Crushing” blades (Be very careful handling!), two 20oz. containers with lids for individual servings, a second blade set for use with the smaller containers, and an easy to use battery operated (also with cord for plug in operation) vacuum pump to vacuum-seal the various containers to keep contents fresh and flavorful when stored in the refrigerator. A very nice feature of all these parts, except the motor of course, is they are machine washable. The 1400W motor will pretty much pulverize any food type you put in it, including ice, hence those scary blades. Make some smoothies, chop some veggies, make beverages that include crushed ice, etc., this monster NINJA breezes through it. My first operation with it was to make smoothies, and it did the job probably 3x faster than my older conventional blender. From ingredients to smoothie in seconds! Another very nice feature is the base unit’s touch screen that has pre-sets for seven of the most common uses: smoothies, frozen drinks, shakes, etc. I found the pre-sets to be pretty much spot on. It may look like a monster, but don’t judge it by appearance. Once you’ve used it enough to be comfortable, you will see it’s your new best friend for any food processing job needed! This is my first NINJA experience, and it won’t be my last!

    Excellent Premium Blender

The Ninja Blender DUO with FreshVac is a solidly built, versatile, premium blender that is easy to operate and performs fantastically. Upon unboxing, everything feels solid and well built. Much of the construction is plastic, including the 72oz pitcher, but none of it feels cheap. And the water-proof screen is a proper touch screen and not a flexible membrane, so it should last without fading or cracking. Assembly is logical and easy to follow with the included instructions. Lids and hatches close tightly and easily and vessels engage in the base smoothly and positively. Batteries for the FreshVac pump are also included, which is a nice touch. Once a vessel is mounted to the base, the base detects the vessel and provides you with applicable Auto iQ modes (‘Smoothie’, ‘Puree’, ‘Extract’, etc). The IQ modes adjust speed, power, and time and have seemed to work well. If those modes don’t fit your application, manual ‘High’, ‘Low’, and ‘Pulse’ modes are still available. The 1400 watt motor has made quick work of anything that I’ve thrown at it so far with very smooth results. And it is not overly loud, especially given its power. The FreshVac pump works quickly and quietly, pulling a vacuum on either the 72oz pitcher or 20oz cups. While I’ll need to test it more over the long term, it does at least seem to produce less foam when used for smoothies. The only cons to mention: The 72oz pitcher or 20oz cup being plastic limits use with hot liquids. Also, the FreshVac pump can be used with a corded AC adapter, but the adapter is not included and must be purchased separately. Overall, an excellent blender that produces great results quickly.

We already had a Blender and a Processor to make fresh drinks at home. Both my wife and I were intrigued to what exactly is the difference with a FreshVac: we were pleasantly surprised. This Ninja Blender DUO FreshVac is hands down our favorite appliance now, and you can taste the difference. The FreshVac system limits the amount of air in the mixture, and therefore, gives you a more purer taste to your smoothie. The color was more vibrant than what we were used to, and the taste was as close to the original fruits we mixed in. It is packaged really well, and the Ninja itself is very solid in build. It comes with 2 x 20oz. cups with lids. The smart screen is touch screen, and gives you 7 preset Auto-iQ settings for you do decide. We were also surprised that we didn’t have to hold it down when we were operating it, unlike our previous blenders, because it comes with suction cups to secure it on your counter top. It was easy to clean right after usage.

I have an older Ninja Ultima BL810, and while that has an slightly more powerful motor (1500w vs 1400w) it is little more than an on/off pulverizer when compared to this DUO w/Freshvac. Depending on which of the three included canisters/jars you attach to the base, the DUO will illuminate the options on the touchscreen panel. If a selection is grayed out it means you simply can't choose that for the canister you've installed. Swap it out for another and the base registers this change and presents you will whatever choices are available. Simple, easy, no guess work. Pros; - Options -- you can get any blender to blend with. This thing offers you options and makes it easy to go about achieving them, which is usually what keeps people from exploring new things; the guess work and lack of ease. (this is a semi double-edged sword, see "blades" in cons) - Strong motor -- while not as strong as other Ninja offerings (or other brands for that matter) it's plenty strong enough for 99.9% of what a household would plan on using this for - Interface -- the seamless touchscreen is not only sleek (when off it's completely blacked out for a nice stealthy appearance) but allows for zero-moisture to make it's way into any electronics. - Overall "Quality" -- the DUO feels nicely built. There's a solid feel to just about every component regardless of material you are touching. Everything has a nice notch, click, or slide to it. Cons; - Vacuum release on the jars -- you eventually (hopefully) remember to do this, but at first I forgot a handful of times. After a few times, though, it became muscle memory, so not *really* a big deal. - There's a few different blades which I've yet to really notice any difference given how much your contents are getting tossed around regardless of which canister/jar you're using. I get that depending on any number of variables that you may want something diced to a certain to degree more/less than in another application, hence offering multiple blades. But, I still don't know if it's necessary. To cap off the "cons" portion I'll add that prior to writing this review I noticed mine aligned with a few other reviews. Pretty much confirmed to me that, while being really insignificant to the overall performance of the blending, they were still worth mentioning again to point out to potential buyers that they aren't just one-off problems/issues. The only other thing I could even remotely add to it is "cleaning" -- but, until someone invents a blender that cleans itself (when they do, call me) that is something inherent to every. single. blender. on the market...unfortunately. All in all; an easy recommendation.

I'm very pleased with this blender. It does what it's supposed to do! Starting from the base up, which is solid and heavy enough to stay on the counter (thanks to suction cups on the bottom) without moving, regardless of whats being blended. It has a 'smart screen' with several preset options, such as smoothies, ice cream, extract and of course the option to choose your own blend. Next is the main pitcher, It's huge, big enough to blend several smoothies at a time. It has a removable blade stalk that has 3 sharp blades on it. They pulvarize anything you put into it and asks for more. The pitcher only fits onto the base one way. It has a handle on the top that can lay flush when not in use, you press a release button when you want to lift from the top. Also on top is a freshvac tab, this is where you can use the freshvac pump to take out all the air before blending. This is supposed to make all thats being blended fresh and last longer. I'm not sure if this this is kind of gimmicky, because once you pour the mixture into a glass, air is re-introduced anyway. It also comes with two large glass size jars and an additional smaller blade used with them. This is a loud blender, but not anymore than any other. If you entertain alot, or are trying for healthier options, need to puree or just want to blend a good margarita I highly recommend the Ninja Duo

Powerful Blender - The Vac system really works

I've been making smoothies in my Shark bullet for several years and wanted to move up to a bigger model. I was skeptical about the vacuum system which takes oxygen out of the blender/vessel so I tried creating a smoothie with and without the vacuum technology. I combined spinach and other veggies along with an apple and strawberries. I split the ingredients into two different batches and made one version with and one without the vacuum technology. I was impressed with the difference between the two versions. The version using the vac was much richer in color than the other non-vac version. I taste-tested it along with my wife and we both thought the vac-version was better. The other great aspect of the vac system is the smoothie maintains a better consistency when refrigerating it overnight. I only had to shake up the container the next day rather than blend it again. This was one of my biggest frustrations with my old Ninja. You basically had to make and consume what you created as it was never the same after it was in the fridge overnight. I also like the touchscreen technology. It's intuitive and cleanup is easy if there are any spills on the base unit. Like most blenders, this unit is loud, but clearly has a lot of power. I also don't know why blenders have to have such short power cords. This unit is packed with power, additional components for smaller batch concoctions and the vacuum technology is a differentiator over other brands. The value built into this Ninja is impressive.

    Read the instructions first

My initial reaction as I pulled this blender out of the package was that this might be a little complicated since it requires a freshvac pump, but surprisingly it wasn't that tough once you read the directions. Because of the vacuum seals and the specific steps you need to take this isn't entirely intuitive so you really need to use the instructions the first couple times until you've got a handle on the the seals and ensuring you don't watch your smoothie spilling everywhere because you skipped a step. Overall, the quality of the blend is great. Very much as advertised because it's super smooth rather than an icee. The panel for choosing options is super easy to use and at a quick click of the option you're blender is spinning into action for the preset amount of time to arrive at your desired consistency. It also comes with both a full blender pitcher and individual cups which is fantastic so you spare yourself having to pour your individual shake into a cup. Overall, I have been rather impressed with the product and the quality of its work. Can't wait to use it for a few different recipes.

This blender was extremely easy to set up and use. It was good to go right out of the box. the first thing I tried was the personal 20oz blender cup, made an awesome spinach protein shake. the vacuum was very easy to use and the most noticeable aspect of this type of shake was the smooth texture. As far as the nutrient retention, I can't attest to that but the just the fact that it tastes better is good enough for me. The IQ feature is pretty neat too. The auto detection of the cannister being used and the options being shown to you encourages use. The next thing I tried was the blender and some homemade ice cream. It was very good and the consistency was smooth. I will research different recipe's other than the ninja website but the machine worked great. The next biggest bonus of the machine was the cleanup. The blades slide right out and make clean up a breeze. The cannisters square bottom design allow for easy reach for cleanup. I definitely recommend the machine and the display makes the kitchen look much more modern.

Having used other Nina Blenders, this blender does not disappoint. The motor is powerful enough for all of your blending needs. I have a smoothie, made from spinach, blueberries, and bananas every morning. This unit makes quick work of my smoothies, and they are delicious. Specific to this unit it the "FreshVac" technology. This is essentially a pump to remove oxygen from what you are blending, which will reduce the amount of foam produced, and keep your food fresh for a longer period of time. I typically don't use this though, as I am a fan of foam. Overall, this is an amazing blender that will satisfy all of your need, from nutritional, to hosting parties, and I highly recommend it.

    Making smoothies interesting!

I have a traditional blender which has not motivated me in making smoothies for the most part. I love technology, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to see if using the Ninja - FreshVac Smart Screen Blender DUO would actually help me reach my health goals easier by making it “techy”. It comes with two 20oz cups with sip lids, one 62oz pitcher, a vacuum FreshVac (powered by included batteries) and a recipe book. The base is very cool-looking. I like the black finish base and the black accents on the pitcher. It does feel like it’s good quality. I would have liked to see glass containers instead of plastic ones, though. The base lights up nicely showing the options on the smooth screen. The “buttons” are touch-sensitive, so that gives it a sci-fi feel to it. Setting it up is rather easy and intuitive. The first thing I wanted to do, ironically, was to make a not-so-healthy smoothie with strawberries, bananas, coconut milk, and vanilla ice cream. I used the 20oz cup. I decided to do one serving without using the FreshVac and then do another with it to see if there was really any difference. Placing the cup in the base is easy and locks well. I selected "smoothie" and it begins an automatic process with a timer countdown. Next, I used the FreshVac on the next container. It is pretty cool, albeit a bit cumbersome, since you are adding extra steps. You simply turn over the 20oz container, open the lid and place the FreshVac on it. Press the power button on top and it will suck all the air out and a green light will tell you when it’s ready. Press the release button and voila. Place it on the blender and hit “smoothie”. From this test, I can certainly say that the difference is very noticeable. The “oxygenated” smoothie was a bit thicker, foamy, and lighter in color. The FreshVac one was more settled and darker. Any differences in taste were a bit more difficult to detect. I think the FreshVac smoothie felt more satisfying to drink as it went down. I can certainly feel the “air” or foam more with the non-FreshVac one. So, I guess it’s more about the look and feel rather than taste. Another feature of the FreshVac is that it is supposed to make the blends last longer in the fridge since there is less oxygen in the mix. I must admit that no shake made it past a point where I can say that this is true (although it does make sense). It is also supposed to “trap” in more nutrients. All in all, I think this is a great tool for the kitchen. I will admit that it is a bit on the pricey side and the FreshVac may seem a little gimmicky (since the taste wasn’t all that enhanced) and adds extra work (some might actually like this), but in the end, it all depends on how much you will be using it. I would recommend it to health enthusiasts and shake/smoothie lovers everywhere.

    Overly Complicated & Messy Blender

I am giving this Ninja - Smart Screen 72-Oz. Blender DUO with FreshVac 2 out of 5 stars for the following reasons. First, this starts off like a regular blender in the preparation of a traditional smoothie. The traditional aspect goes south with the introduction of a vacuum attachment. The vacuum is to remove the air from the smoothie cup to allow for the ingredients to blend into a very smooth mixture to allow for easy drinking. The problem is the vacuum sucks a portion of the liquid into its overflow reservoir. This adds an extra level of mess to clean not to mention the vacuum itself having liquid in the pump chamber. Since my smoothies are dairy based I wonder over time is there a concern of food poisoning with the potential of bacteria growing in the pump. Second, the blender has a difficult time processing nut butters which required two passes of the smoothie setting to purify all the ingredients. The smoothie is given a consistency not of a smoothie but more like watery flavored milk...YUK! I prefer the smooth texture of a milk-shake like smoothie and NOT the end result of this overly complicated smoothie blender. The introduction of its vacuum creates, extra mess, requires additional cleaning, along with the potential for bacteria growth. Pros: None Cons: Messy Difficult to clean Potential for bacteria growth in the vacuum pump Smoothie too watery in consistency Mouth opening on lid too small

Very happy with this blender. Every ninja product I’ve gotten is fantastic. It’s like they make products exactly how a consumer would want it. Them blending quality is that of a vita mix but less than half the price. My favorite part about this product is the 20oz cups. I do a lot of protein shakes with frozen fruits and it barely leaves any chunks of fruit. It has multiple blending settings to meet your needs. Unlike most blenders, the ninja has multiple blades to ensure even blending

Not your run of the mill blender. Sure, it can do what they do, but so much more. The biggest thing that stands out on this blender is the FreshVac. It removes the air from what is being blended, which results in a completely different taste, bringing out flavors in ways I've never experienced before. Some folks may see this as gimmicky, I personally really enjoy what this blender brings to the table and would recommend it to anyone looking for a blender with something extra.

The Ninja - Smart Screen 72-Oz. Blender DUO with FreshVac is a unique blender. Ninja is stepping up their game with each new product release. This blender system comes with an air pump that sucks out the air in the cups/pitcher that is in use. At first I thought this would be gimmicky but when I tried it I actually noticed the difference. The first smoothie was good but the second smoothie which had the air vacuumed out was smoother and richer in color. It also seemed to preserve a lot longer when stored in the fridge so I’m a believer. The system looks nice a modern with a touchscreen panel with 7 pre programmed speeds. It also comes with two 20oz cups and a pitcher along with the FreshVac pump and batteries. Loving my new blender so far.
