I rarely give a 5 Star Rating for a product, but this Ninja Foodi is simply amazing. We have used it as a pressure cooker, an air crisper, a broiler, steamer, baking, and in some cases with combination of protein and carbs or vegetables. We have thoroughly tested this almost every evening for the past 2 weeks. My wife has been so happy with all the results. Our first meal was Air Crisper Pork Chops with brown rice and let me tell you we thought it would be difficult but this product is ready to use out of the box and comes with a 45 recipe cookbook that has cooking guides and tells you how to prepare, and gives you an estimated time/proportion tables in the book. As we speak we are slow cooking peanuts for a healthier version of the peanut. The Foodi won't turn on till you give it the instructions, for Function: Pressure, Steam, Slow Cook or Smear/Saute. Then you give it temperature and finally time. It really is that Easy. It also has the setting for Tender Crisp: Air Crisp, Broil and Bake/Roast. I would highly recommend this product. There is simply no other product like it at the moment. It is a special product and the cooker in your family will love you forever when you gift it to them.

PROs: - Cooking speed gives you flexibility to make meal decisions later in the day--not quite as fast as a microwave, but miles ahead of a stove/oven - Herbs and spices do more than coat the outside--when pressure cooking, they really do infuse your meals with flavor--we were surprised by how much additional kick a roast could have! - Food turns out VERY tender if you go easy on the crisping feature - Very easy clean up...lift out the non-stick cooking pot/insert, wipe it off, close the lid, and you're done - Comes with manual and recipe book including a general cooking guide at the back for basic cook times and unit settings given various ingredients/meals - Integrated count-down and count-up timer tells you how long you've been cooking, and how long it's been since the cook time completed (great for natural pressure release that's required for some recipes) - Unlike a traditional oven, this unit does NOT heat up your house while in operation--here in the south, that's a MAJOR bonus for any cooking appliance! CONs: - Crisping appears to be an acquired taste--we found it dried out our food more than we would have liked and ended up not using that feature as often for our meals - Food fell through the openings in the removable rack that the instructions tell you to use for steaming, and it became difficult to remove once the food was cooked--the cook & crisp basket will handle food in smaller chunks much better and is far easier to lift out of the cooker using the handles - Cooking capacity is claimed to be 6.5 qt but the max usable capacity of the cooking pot (insert) is only about 5 qt (because you can't fill the pot to the brim) - Included recipe book presumed some addition accessories which aren't included in this package--required some improvisation when we realized we didn't have all the right hardware to finish a recipe we had started - Pressure/steamer lid does not store inside or on top of the unit--requires some additional shelf space even if you are going to keep the cooker out on the counter permanently We spent quite a bit of time with this cooker before putting in a review cooking a variety of meals, sides, and even baking desserts. We weren't thrilled with the results in some of our early attempts because the crisping feature seemed to dry out our foods more than we cared for. However, like any new cooking appliance, we took some time to get to know this unit and learned some of the accommodations we needed to eventually make it suit our tastes--you're likely going to need to spend some time with it as well given that some people might be new to pressure cooking in general. Once we got the hang of it, we found this to be an incredibly convenient cooker that provided a number of capabilities (steaming, baking, broiling, slow cooking, pressure cooking, sear/saute) all in the same unit and it produced very tasty results in much less time than a traditional oven would have needed. It's a little bulky (more so than you might think just by looking at the photos), but the cooking pots/inserts do reduce the capacity enough that I don't know if it will support meals for a family greater than 4-6 people depending on how hearty they eat. The digital display is very informative but the directions don't tell you that it can actually take several minutes to build up appropriate pressure before the countdown timer starts--we thought at first we might have a bad unit because the rotating "pressure is building indicator" seemed like it was never going to stop. In a related note, the vent button is very loose and touchy--in a good way--it takes virtually no effort to release some pressure from the steam vent valve. But similarly, there is no reassuring "click" or lock into place to get the valve into the fully sealed position, and without a good seal, the unit simply will not pressurize but the indicator light won't tell you that's the problem. One very important note: the pressure release valve shoots a very hot and sustained jet of steam straight out of the top of the cooker during the quick release time. Most of our open counter space is underneath our kitchen cabinets and it was clear that sustained use would eventually cause paint to peel or cabinet doors to warp. We're actually considering having a new outlet installed at the end of one of our islands to accommodate the cooker because we do like it that much, but be advised that you'll need to find a truly open area for cooking if you intend to use it very often. Overall, though, we liked this unit enough that we are a) going to keep it, and b) going to buy a few more inserts and accessories to extend its usefulness even further...that's about as positive an endorsement as we can give. Recommended so long as you're willing to spend some time getting to know it, experimenting with some recipes, and learning how it will best work to suit you and your tastes.
