Customers value the ION™ S87 Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum with Handheld Vacuum for its powerful handheld vacuum, quiet operation, and convenient app control. It is also effective at picking up pet hair and has a good battery life. However, some customers have concerns about its navigation, as it tends to get stuck in close quarters and follows a random cleaning pattern.

Love at First Use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark ION S87 Robot Vacuum is the top-of-the-line robot vacuum from Shark. Until I tried this out, my favorite robot vacuum was the Shark ION 750; and I’ve used robot vacuums from several different top brands. But now, the S87 has dethroned the 750 as my new favorite. First of all, it is not only a robot vacuum, but the dock also discretely houses a very powerful yet lightweight hand-held vacuum. Both work very, very well. The robot vacuum has updated Navigation 2.0 technology to help it get around the house without getting stuck. For really tough areas, you can use the included boundary strips (like under a couch where it might get stuck). The vacuum doesn’t have mapping technology, nor does it vacuum in straight lines, so if that is important to you, you may want to try something else. I think that its randomness actually allows it to vacuum the house as a whole more effectively. It also features three levels of suction to choose from, depending on your needs. On max suction, it is three times more powerful than the 750. It has a main rolling brush in the middle of the unit, plus two spinning brushes near the sides to push debris into the dustbin. The dustbin is very large, and in my house, always ends up full. The wide opening to the dustbin ensures that pet hair won’t clog the unit and render it ineffective. The dustbin and filter are easy to remove and empty. The vacuum is much more quiet than most and cleans equally well on carpets and hard flooring. Another nice feature of this vacuum is that it can be run remotely through the Shark ION smartphone app, or through smart home devices such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant. The handheld vacuum has incredible suction for its size and is really lightweight but it is also very loud. It has a one button empty feature for effortless dumping of your kid’s dropped cheerios into the trash after sucking them up. It comes with two attachments, one for use with picking up pet hair from upholstered surfaces; and one for picking up dust. Unfortunately though, the attachments can’t be mounted on the dock, so you’ll have to store those separately. Despite a couple very minor flaws, I love this vacuum and it is now my go-to floor cleaner.

Good but not a big upgrade
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Ion is supposed to be the latest one in the series that is an upgrade to its predecessors. While this is still a good self cleaner i beg to differ on it being that much of a big upgrade. In some areas i actually feel they downgraded some things. However you look at it this is still a good product but i wonder how much better it really is compared to its previous models. Lets dive in and find out if this is the right fit for your house. So right out of the box your going to receive the main vacuum, the base, the wand with three attachments, and four brushes which would leave you with two spare ones. The first thing i noticed about the two side brushes was that it only has one row of bristles. I uploaded a picture for you to see but the reason why this stood out to me was because i felt it was a down grade from last years model. I own another Shark Ion, last years model to be exact and when comparing the two together side by side i noticed some differences of course. My older Shark Ion has three rows of bristles instead of one single row on this newer model. More bristles means more stuff gets picked up. Also the claim on this model is that its good for pet hair. I have a German Shepard that sheds alot and i mean ALOT. The Shark Ion does a good job picking up the pet hair off the hard surfaces but really struggles to pull it from the carpet. And not just that but the main roller they used is your standard brush type roller. This means that hair in general gets tangled in the brushes very easily and needs to be cut out. With the release of the Shark upright duo which utilizes a soft roller i thought for sure they would of used this technology in the new Shark Ion. I have a vacuum that is specifically designed for pet hair and it uses a bristle-less soft roller that never tangles. Just something to keep in mind since its claimed to be good for pets. Now there is a power boost option for the vacuum that you activate under the app but this serves no real function in my opinion. When you activate the power boost its supposed to create more suction power and while you can hear it slightly increase it still struggled to pull up my pet hair from the carpet. All it really did was drain the battery down very fast. Lets talk about the app section for a bit. You can link this up to your internet via the app which allows you to access the vacuum wireless. One thing i will tell you is setting up the app can be frustrating as most self cleaners usually have a hard time getting past your firewall. Set up may be difficult and may take some know how if you have a touchy security system on your wireless internet. Once the app is set up you can go ahead and name your robot and set up cleaning schedules. If your robot ever gets stuck or has an issue it will also send an alert to your phone letting you know its in trouble and what its situation is i.e. "your robot is stuck." You can also order replacement parts for your vacuum through the app as well. One nice add on though to this latest model is the cordless wand that attaches to the base. The wand has some very strong suction power and while its dust bin may be very small it is sealed with a anti-allergen seal and hepa filter. The fact that you are given three extra attachments means cleaning your stairs, car, drapes, or whatever it is you are trying to get to will be a breeze. The suction power on the wand is so good that it had no problem pulling pet hair or debris from the crevices of my couches. Now lets talk functionality and how good it can maneuver. One thing i want to start off by saying is that i have tested 5 different models of self cleaners and Shark by far makes one of the best cleaners. Now understand when you use this model its going to move very erratic and may seem clumsy to you. There are a few things to know first. For starters wherever you position your base try to move it once its positioned. The Shark Ion will seem clumsy at first but that is because it needs to learn your floor plan. They have implemented two side sensors which the previous models didn't have which allows it to get closer along the edges of your wall. The more you use the vacuum from the same position the better it learns your plan and becomes more uniform with its cleaning run. While it will never run perfect straight up and down lines it will still do a very good job at picking up almost all the debris on your floor. I really liked how well this unit hugged the walls to get in to some of the tight spots. Just keep in mind this unit will still zig zag acting like its lost but its actually pretty smart in the way of knowing where its going and maneuvering around obstacles. When the battery gets low it will go in to low power mode and make its way back home to its base station and dock itself. The first several cleaning cycles it will struggle to find its base depending on how far away it is from it so don't expect it to make a straight shot home to its base station. Also this is why i said its very important not to move its base station once you set it up because over time it will learn where its home base is making its return back alot faster and more uniform. Here's my final verdict. All in all this is a great unit to own and the only reason i didn't give it five stars is because i see no real big upgrades that make it stand out other than the cordless wand it comes with. I can tell you from personal experience that Shark hands down makes really good units that last very long and work very well. While this may not be the top of the line in the way of self cleaners its still a very good competitor that works very well and is built to last. The app allows for you to control this unit anytime from anywhere rather your at work or at home you can turn this unit on or shut it off at will. The wand is a very nice add on that complements this unit very well helping to add more appeal to it. The suction power of the wand means that it can serve an actual purpose. Pros: -Wand with attachments -Good battery life -Decent suction power -Smart technology -Avoids obstacles -Bigger waste bin Cons: -Not so good with pet hair -single row bristles for the side brushes -Does not do too well with pet hair on carpets

Great cleaning and voice control
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark ION S87 Robot has a few quirks about it that I find a bit worrisome, but overall, I am impressed with the system and how it works. Cleaning power is great, and I have had no issues with how well it cleans. The amount of dust in the dust bin is always a surprise to me after a cleaning. The suction power manages to pull dirt and pet hair from the carpets on a daily basis. The addition of the cord-free handheld vacuum is a very welcome addition. However, I used to keep my old ION robot parked under a table in my dining room, but this model will not fit with the charging bay for the hand-held. A minor inconvenience I admit, but the previous spot I was able to minimize the amount of times my toddlers would “play” with the robot. The dust bin itself holds plenty of dust and debris and I have been able to run it three times without having to empty it. Run time has been a consistent hour each time. Even in max mode I get an hour but advertised run time is 2 hours in normal mode and less in Max mode. I have tested the noise level between quiet, normal, and max mode and my readings showed about a 5dB between each mode. Max mode wasn’t that loud, but it would be annoying if you are trying to watch a TV show perhaps. There is a bit of confusion with the HEPA filter. The dust bin says to clean weekly by tapping it and to not wash it, the manual says it’s ok to wash with water and fully dry out over a 24-hour period. I am not exactly sure which one is correct, but my old shark ION robot I did wash the filter (which had the same warning on the dust bin) and it worked out fine. Now for the quirks that I mentioned earlier. The robot has just stopped at different times and gone back to the base station, the app displayed an error that it got stuck on an ‘uneven’ surface. Also, it did get stuck under a chair and displayed the error that it got stuck on a boundary strip. That time it just stayed put and didn’t go back to the charger. Another quirk is how you have to open the dust bin…. it’s hard to explain, but you have to hold it with one hand and use the other hand to both depress the button and lift the top open at the same time. I prefer the old design much better. The dust bin filter seems to get a lot of dust trapped in it and I am not sure how well it cleans after that, but you will have a good amount of buildup on that. The navigation 2.0 seems a bit jerkier in it’s movements than the previous model, but I think this new version has a rougher time navigating around my home, but with that being said, it seems to have a better chance of not getting stuck which my pervious model would get stuck once in a while. I really like being able to ask Alexa or Google to start the cleaning and I find that feature to work pretty well. The app will give you stats like how long the robot has been cleaning, it’s current charge level, it will beep so you can locate it, pause cleaning, of course start cleaning. Over all, I am looking forward to this robot doing a good job keeping my floors clean between our regular vacuuming.

Best bang for your buck.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a fan/user of the robotic vacuums since the start. And man have they came a long way. And now with multiple companies making them, they are becoming very affordable. And I feel the Shark is the best bang for your buck. Setup is very easy. I was able to link the Shark Ion to both google home and amazon Alexa. Giving me the ability to use voice commands. Simple stuff like start vacuuming or return to dock. I found the Shark app at the apple store and on google play. I tested it out on both an Iphone and a Google Pixel. The app is straightforward and easy to use. After the initial setup when I open the app it ask what vacuum I would like to control. You can name your different robots( i.e Living room, Master bedroom,Front hall). Then you can pick 3 different cleaning modes Quiet,Normal or Max. After that its just three commands 1. Clean. This starts your vacuum, 2. Dock. This will return your vacuum to the charger. 3. Find. This one is very helpful for when your vacuum finds that missing sock under your bed or a cord. You do have to make your home robot friendly. And by that I mean you have to pick up before he can run. He gets stuck on smaller stuff little toys, socks, cords. I went as far as raising my couches with longer legs so my shark can go under them to clean. And when I buy a new piece of furniture I always look to see if shark can or can not go under it. Same thing with rugs high pile rugs and shag carpet tend to be a trap for all by vacuums. This Shark Ion does the best at not getting stuck and making it back to the dock. With the help of included boundary strips. I have mine under rugs, mats and doorways that I don't want shark to clean or try and clean. The shark won't drive over the boundary strip making off limits areas. I love the new XL bin. I have attached a photo so you can see the size difference. The bigger bin means it can go a day or two longer before you have to empty it. And as if the Shark vacuum was't enough with this model you get a cordless handheld vacuum. That is very powerful. Good for fast cleaning or things shark may have missed. It comes with attachments also. Both vacuums charge on the same dock and I wish it had a place to store the attachments. I find my self using the handheld with out any of the attachments and it works just fine that way. If your in the market for a robotic vacuum you can't go wrong here. Key points. Battery life. about and hour or more of cleaning time Powerful Included boundary strips Has the highest return rate of making it back to the dock of all my vacuums. Cordless handheld Easy to use app Works with both Google Home and Amazon Alexa

Cleans carpets/rugs well, App needs some work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have more than one Shark vacuum, they are excellent, which is one of the reasons I wanted to try the Shark Ion Robot. Unpackaging and set up was very easy, included instructions were very clear. Everything was clearly labeled with removable stickers walking you through the set up process. Having set up smart devices before I kind know what to expect. Find the app in the store, using the 2D bar code (QR-Code); this took me to the iPhone app required to set up the robot with the app (Andriod also availble). This all went well. You need to set up an account with Shark and then register seperately, this should be combined to save effort, but no big deal. You can then start the robot from your phone, pause it, change the power setting or send it back to it's dock. You also set the name to be used for your Shark (like: "SharkRobot"). To use voice commands from Alexa or Google (I use both) you still have to link the app to your Shark account. This is far more complicated than getting the Shark app set up and running. For Alexa you have to enable the Shark Skill (search for 'shark' under skills). For google you need it to find your device and then link your account. When I first tried to use Alexa it indicated the Shark suction had an error. From Google I initially got a status of stuck (both when it was still charging, in its dock, before intial use). I then got an error indicating the side brush was stuck (it was not). I decided to move on for now. So, after failing to launch the robot by voice, I used the button on the Shark App to start cleaning, this went smoothly. I ran the robot for about an hour and asked it to return to the dock. About 5 minutes later it was still trying to find it's way back. It got confused under a table with 6 legs; I moved it manually, it then got stuck under astep ladder. It had no problems with these with these objects while cleaning, but it did returning to the dock (when returning it is more quite and the side brushes don't spin). After recharging emptying the dust bin (which is very easy to do, and it's quite large, a lot larger than some other robots) I decided to try the voice commands again. This time both Alexa and Google were able to issue commands to the robot(? maybe it takes some time to get set up ?) but from either device I could pause, it, check it's status, change it's suction etc. Here what's kind of odd, when using voice commands you refer to your device as Shark, not what you named it, What happens it you have more than one, I don't know, doubt you could tell them apart. Also the voice commands your use and counter intutitive, some places you say my robot, others you don't. And it's like you asking google, or Alexa to tell the Shark App what to do, not haveing them tell the robot what to do. This needs work, especially with the naming. And this time the robot returned to it's dock without assistance. Now the wand on the stand is a nice touch, but it limits where you can place the dock, it really needs to be out in the open (3' to right and left, and 5' in front, according to instructions). Because of the wand you can't place the dock under some piece of furniture, as it needs to be accessible. That being said, the wand is convenient, it's fairy powerful and it comes with 2 tools (crevice and wide). They claim it will hold a charge for 2.5 hrs. It works well, and has a pretty large capacity. And it's very easy to empty. Unlke a lot of cheap hand vacs, it has a decent filter to prevent it from just blowing dist around. It is well designed. Now onto some other comparisons, the Shark Ion Robot does a great job on carpets. It climbed up and down several oriental rugs I have and some other throw rugs. It also managed not to fight with the fringe on a couple of my orientals. I've not been able to use other robots on these orientals, and the shark was fine with them (yea). It did not do as good of job on my wood and tile floors as my other Shark uprights, it's beater bar lacks the ability to get as close to the floor, and the beater bar is only 6" wide, it must pass over the same area many more times to clean it throughty. Like I said I have had other robots, with them I thought I could detect a cleaning method or pattern by observing it. With the shark I've got no idea wher it will go next after it has cleaned a long, unobstructed strip, it's not like it goes back and forth evenly. The robot comes with some magentic tape that allows you to set up "no go" zones, I did not test the use of this, but the robot does not need ths to avoid stairs, it won't fall down stairs, it has a fall sensor that works well. With some other robots you can look at the pattern that the robot moved; the shark software does not support this (today). It's a great feature to review what areas/pattern has been cleaned. Now some real positives, the Shark is MUCH more quite than the most popular robot, and it's dust bin is a lot larger and easier to empty than any other I've tried. The scheduling is pretty straight forward, and works well, but it will let you schedule cleanings to close together (not leaving enought recharge time), so you need to plan accordingly. It also had a neat function that forces it into quite mode during certain hours, this is missing with most other robots. But the app is still immature compared to several others, fortunatly this can easily be fixed with software updates. Shark is catching up, the current App is good start, but the rough edges show. This can be fixed/improved fairly easily. Not using the name that you assign to the robot is just hard to explain. Especially when compared to naming of other smart devices used within home automation. The integration with Google and Alexa works most of the time, I can't expalin the glitches I saw, but I'm confident it will only improve. I would still recommend the product, it is better in many ways than some of the other robots out there, and it's priced competively for the features it offers (keep in mind that every part is easily user replacable/cleanable - no one else can say this).

Powerful Vacuum / Excellent Design
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SUMMARY: This really is an amazing product, both the robot and the handheld vacuum. It’s full-featured, and is remarkably efficient, well-designed, intuitive, extremely functional, very versatile, and is strong enough to tackle large messy tasks. The smartphone app works seamlessly with the robot vacuum unit. The handheld is packed with suction and battery power for cleaning larger messes. How I used the product: Single-floor apartment, approximately 1100 square feet, with both carpeting and linoleum flooring. I operated the app from both my iPhone Xs and my iPad Air 2, both running iOS 12.1. There really are three separate reviews to provide here: Robot Vacuum, Handheld Vacuum, and the smartphone app. The base itself is easy to set up; it just requires that the adapter be plugged into an electric socket. I will start with the handheld vacuum. ROBOT VACUUM I was extremely skeptical, but this vacuum definitely proved me wrong. The vacuum connects to your home WiFi network. You use the smartphone app to set up the WiFi and password, to name the vacuum if you wish, to schedule cleanings and several other key functions that I explain below in the ‘Smartphone App’ portion of this review. The suction power of this vacuum is amazing. Note that it cleans just as well as your full-sized vacuum. The app is easy and impressive; once the Robot Vacuum is charged, you may start operating it. It has three levels of suction (Quiet, Normal & Max), each of which are efficient. All three settings are very quiet also. I typically run it on the ‘Normal’ setting for usual vacuuming. I live in an apartment, but I would not have any reservation about running it in ‘Quiet’ or ‘Normal’ mode. The ‘Max’ mode is capable of cleaning anything that your upright would; but this one will clean under the sofa, coffee table, beds, and any other places that you don’t routinely vacuum due to convenience factors. The collection bin is quite large, and combined with the powerful suction, this is a beast. I have two young kids, so besides the usual dust and dirt, I’ve picked up pretzels, candy/wrappers, crumbs, and even a small plastic water bottle cap. I am really amazed at the things I find in there. Typical upright vacuums have a beater brush comprised of bristles; the Robot Vacuum’s beater is flexible rubber. Since the rubber is stiffer than bristles, it will pick up things that my upright doesn’t; I’ve compared the Robot Vacuum to my upright with the same plastic water bottle cap and a ¼” piece of lego. The Robot Vacuum picked up both items; the plastic cap was not picked up with my upright. I have allergies, so a HEPA filter in the dust bin prevents discharge of dust and particulate, which could cause an allergy attack. I tried this vacuum against dog hair (medium length, medium/normal amount of hair); the hair was picked up with the first pass of the vacuum. I would expect cat hair to be no issue as well. The Robot Vacuum has a large bumper, and it works very well when it comes against a wall, door, etc. The Robot Vacuum is supplied with ~13 feet of magnetic ‘ribbon’, that the vacuum will not cross; you can use to barricade areas/room that you don’t want the vacuum to enter. It is thin with beveled (sloped) edges, so it doesn’t present a tripping hazard. The bottom is smooth, so it can be held down with double-sided tape. It can be used ‘ad hoc’ (on the fly), for areas that you temporarily want to keep the vacuum out of; it can be used to deter the vacuum from underneath the holiday tree, or you may lay it down if you don’t want it to vacuum in the kids’ room until their clothes are picked up. The magnetic ribbon works as if it bumped a wall, due to sensors on the bottom. You may purchase another roll of magnetic ribbon from the manufacturer’s website, among other vendors. The Robot Vacuum did get stuck on a thick bathroom rug once, but I haven’t seen a vacuum that would not have had an issue with it. If the Robot Vacuum would happen to get stuck, it will provide an alarm for audible, a series of flashing lights for a visual, and can even be set, via the app, to send an alert message to your phone (through the app itself). My apartment is approximately 1100 square feet, mostly carpeting, with a linoleum kitchen. The vacuum seamlessly transitions from one surface to another. The vacuum will run for an hour on one full charge, running constantly on ‘Normal’ mode. When the vacuum’s battery becomes very low, it will automatically return to the base to charge. HANDHELD VACUUM To start, note that the smartphone app only controls the robot vacuum, not the handheld vacuum. To set this up, you need only remove shipping material / protective film off of the product, and place it into the base to charge. It is hard to align the base with the handheld at times, and sometimes requires you to try a few times before it seats; this is one of my Cons, but definitely does not outweigh the versatility and power that this handheld has. As soon as you place it into the base, a soft blue light, integrated into the power button, indicates the status; flashing means it is charging, and a steady light means that the unit is charged. The handheld does not take very long to charge; perhaps 1-2 hours for a full charge. It does feel a bit long in your hand, but it is weighted well, so it doesn’t add stress / pressure to your wrist when in use. The hand grip is ergonomic and has a rubberized portion for easy grip. This handheld has a great amount of suction; not just for its size, but in general. I love and appreciate it most when I use it in my car, but I have used it in the pantry and basement. The crevice tool length is good, and when combined with the suction, it will pull debris into the collection bin, without hovering the vacuum over what you want picked up (the suction will pull it a short distance). I have two young kids, so besides the usual dust and dirt, I’ve picked up pretzels, candy/wrappers, legos parts, pasta, washers & screws, and a host of other objects (I did even pick up a small marble). REMEMBER, this can damage the vacuum, and I picked them up unintentionally. The collection cup is smoked in color, so there is no guesswork about it being full or not. Speaking of which, there is very little loss of suction as the collection cup becomes full. It comes with three attachments: a square brush, a crevice tool, and a flat surface cleaning tool. I do wish that they were integrated into a storage compartment or something on the base, so everything is in one place; again, this is a minor Con. All attachments work well, are easily interchanged on the fly, and work as intended. SMARTPHONE APP The app is thoughtfully-designed. It is extremely functional and powerful, yet intuitive and quite easy to set up. I downloaded it from the App Store, opened it, created an account, and paired it with my WiFi network and vacuum. Very simple. When you are setting this up, the app provides you with concise directions and a few diagrams. Using the app, you can schedule times that you want the vacuum to operate, do a manual start/stop for cleaning, select the suction level/speed of operation, view a History of previous runs, check the operational status (Docked for instance), verify battery level, and view the name you assigned to the robot during setup. The Robot Vacuum also provides alerts to your smartphone, via the app, if it stops, gets stuck, or a sensor needs cleaned.

Good robot with nice features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ion does a good job of cleaning and is very nimble. I think it cleans a fair amount faster than other robot vacuums as well. The added benefit of the additional vacuum is very helpful. Both seem pretty powerful. The Ion is able to transition between our hard wood floors and carpet without issue. It has had no problem finding the charger. The app for the Ion works well too, and connected without issue. One thing that other robot vacuums have, that I wish the Ion had, was the ability to resume cleaning. If the Ion doesn't quite clean all the floors, it could pick up where it left off. I also wouldn't mind the option to clean more than once a day if necessary. Though, not that big of a deal. Pros: easy to use, added handheld is useful, nimble, good cleaning Cons: doesn't have the ability to pick up where it left off

Overall Excellent Product
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a huge fan of my other Shark products and thought that I would treat myself to a robot vac. We have two larger dogs, a 70 lb. Australian Shepherd, and a 120 lb. German Shepherd, who we love but both shed like crazy, especially during the very hot summers in Phoenix. I primarily purchased this vacuum to run each day on our tile floors to pickup dog fur. The Good: 1. Very easy to set up 2. Does a great job cleaning 3. Handles pet hair like a pro -love that it cleans the hair off roller. 4. Handheld vac is a bonus and works really well for quick pickups and did great job in my car after a ride to the vet. The Bad (and reasons it did not get 5 stars) 1. In spite of advertised set patterns to avoid missing spots, it does not follow any patterns and the path it follows is very random and has missed spots. It does seem to "Learn" and is doing a better job as time goes on. 2. Can be very finicky when recharging. I have had to go to the website on five occasions trying to reboot and get my vac to restart. This too seems to be getting better with time and the first two times we will chalk up as user error. 3. Does not work good if you have deep pile carpets. I have deep pile carpet in bedrooms and it was overwhelmed. I just close my bedroom doors at this point and use regular vacuum for those rooms.

Excellent Robot Vacuum
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my doubts about robot vacuums until I purchased this product. I purchased this device couple of weeks ago since it was on sale and sincerely, for the price, I couldn't be happier for the results. It is quiet, cleans real good and apart from the zig zag motion, this would have been the best robot vacuum. It is low, gets under my furniture without any hassle and has excellent suction. I have 2 toddlers and with this robot, they have learnt to pickup after themselves. 'Robot Home' as my boys call it, will eat your toys they tell themselves. I have never had any docking issue with this vacuum since. With the included handheld vacuum, my boys take turn using it to clean the stairs, they are always excited they can help my wife and I with our chores and they look forward to doing it. The handheld powerful suction is second to none. I use it on the weekends to vacuum my car as well. I am very excited about the purchase and definitely recommend this product without any reservation.

Love my Shark Ion
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love my Shark. I really like the handheld vacuum for quick clean up and the robot vacuum itself is awesome. It cleans my entire house with one charge and no need to empty the bin. Have 4 dogs and it helps with the hair. It is a must to help pick up kids mess. I love that I can have this do a quick sweep of the house when I am running around all day. So far haven't had any issues. Only used on tile.

Questionable navigation skills
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this mainly for our living room, where there is a rug that gets covered with dog hair. Even when I restrict the Shark just to this room, using barriers and the supplied BotBoundary strips, after more than an hour of operation the rug has not been well cleaned - not even close. In fact it hasn't even been fully covered by the Shark in its movements. Areas that it has covered still have dog hair. Using a hand-held vacuum you would go over such areas multiple times, back and forth. With the shark, it just passes over once and may or may not come back on its random wanderings. In addition I was surprised at how stupidly it actually navigates. For example, it will come up to a wall, stop, make a turn, come to a piece of furniture, turn around again and go right back to the wall at the exact spot it hit 5 seconds earlier. In other words it instantly forgets where the walls or obstacles are. I have seen it bounce back and forth several times like a slow pinball before its random navigation engine chooses a different direction. Seems like a waste of power to me. I wish it could learn the layout of a room so it could spend more time cleaning and less time getting confused, stopping, turning around etc. Although it has failed on the rug, it has done a good job of cleaning dust and hair from the wooden floors. The handheld vac so far has been great - very efficient targeted suction that is quite powerful.

Works Great, though not a primary vacuum
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to do a smallish house. Works pretty well on the floors. Uses a random pattern, so it doesn't always get everything. I wouldn't recommend this as your "only" vacuum. Runs for about 45-60 minutes before it needs to dock. Seems to have no issues finding the dock when complete. Phone app is pretty basic. Allows you to start it from your device, as well as send it back to the dock. The handheld stick vac is really quite handy, and works very well.

Good Robot.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR - This is a decently functional robot that does a good job at daily cleaning to get the general dust and dirt of daily life, and for what the robot can't reach the included HandVac is a great addon. Setup: The physical setup of the robot vac is easy, and takes a few seconds. Chosing the right place isn't too hard, just needs to be open space so the robot can find it's way back. The had vac snaps in for charging and its ready for use. Actual setup to use the App is a bit trickery. While this is an improvement over the inital release from last year, it still desires a bit in setup. If the Robot is slow to connect to your Wi-Fi network it forces you to keep repeating. There is no troubleshooting/error message, but it does get frustrating when your trying four or five times sitting next to the wireless router trying to get it on the network. This is more likely more my network, then the robot, but it would be nice to get some better feedback, have the ability to wait a bit longer for it to connect etc then the default, reset, reset, and reset. Once its on the network, you may need to put in a barrier to keep it out of the places you don't want. They include a decent length, just wish it was more, of the bot boundary. Use: Using the robot and app is fairly striaght forward. The app is a definite upgrade from when they had v1 from last year, it can now push alerts to your phone letting you know when the robot is in trouble etc. Handy if your not home, or its in part of your home you not around at the time it is out cleaning, you can go and help it. This can occasionally happen with a cord left in its way etc. Doesn't happen often, but its nice to get a push message. Scheduling is a breeze and you can just let it run. We normally let ours run every day in a room that the kids use, so it gets the general dirt and dust from use and keeps the room clean without a worry. At least the floor, it can't dust yet. Unlike other robots this one just wander around in a randomish pattern, but it seems to work fine in getting the room clean and not going past the boundary strips. The dust cup is fairly large so we tend to need to empety once a week, but this is on a daily cleaning on mostly wood floors, with a few area rugs. On carpet might need to empty more often, still nice that the cup is large that it doesn't have to be a daily thing to remeber. Cleaning its fine, it would be nice if it was less random and more well AI like in the cleaning following a clearly mapped path, but even for a random cleaning pattern it does a good job. The included Handvac is very strong and light. Easy to use and great for grabbing quick messes without a hassle. I'm very impressed with the power packed into this little wand. The only down side is they include a few vacuum heads for the cleaning, but nowhere in the charing station to store them, so you have to find another place for them. It would be nice if they had a place, instead of a shelf nearby, but the fact the handvac has apparently to me soooo much power, I can live with that shortfall. Overall: The robot keeps the room clean and is fairly quite. We don't have pets, just children, and the room they use is kept clean and that is really what I want. Its most a a setup and forget sort of device, that does its job daily without monitoring and only occansionally cleaning of the filters and dust cup. Overall if you are looking for a robot vacuum this is something to look at. The App is fairly simple but gets the job done, and isn't a fancy cleaner, but one that just works.

Love love love
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been the best purchase so far. We haven't had it that long but so far this cleaning system is the best. Because of where we live and our lack of wifi we cannot use it to it's full potential but just sitting it down in a room or our great room and turning it on is more effective than we ever thought it could be. I swear although it's random it cleans like it has a brain. The handheld cleaner is the most powerful hand held I have ever used. It's lightweight and slim design make it a pleasure to use. So far I would say you can't go wrong with this system!

Great cleaning tool for weekly use
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This robot is fun and easy to control with app. I would give it five stars if there were sensors that helped the robot from getting stuck in challenging spaces i.e. bar stools area seem to be a challenge for the robot.

Good for routine cleaning
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Runs quietly, does not require constant attention but sometimes has problems finding dock. I have a little trouble figuring out what I need to do when lights are blinking and won't run. It does a good job of cleaning.

Gets the job done!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third robot vac and so far it's the best. It doesn't get stuck very often, the sounds aren't too annoying and it's relatively quiet, which is important since I work from home. It has a decent amount of room in the dust bin and is gentle around my furniture. The handheld vac is perfect for small tasks like cleaning my sofa before guests come over and the station is pretty unobtrusive. My only gripe is you can't program boundaries and laying down the magnetic strip isn't always practical. Considering all the issues I had with my Roomba and Neato, this is pretty minor and after a few months of ownership this is doing pretty well.

Sadley Disapointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked great for a year. Loved the attached handheld vacuum. It was convenient and handy. Worked well. Unfortunately, after just over a year, the Robot Vacuum began to run very loud. Then eventually stopped running. I would have liked to had the same item but it was no longer available. I had to exchange for another item with no handheld vacuum. I give it a fair rating because of the convenience of the handheld vacuum and how well it worked.

Convenient robot vaccum
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A nice perk about robot vaccums is the ability to put it on a schedule. An added plus is the integration with Amazon's alexa. It does a decent job but it struggles when there are rugs and also finding its way back to the base.

Neat robot vacuum!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as a Christmas gift and remodel update. We refinished our hardwood floors and replaced kitchen tiles with hardwood floors so we now have even flooring. After cleaning the floors, we ran the robot vacuum and was amazed at how much it picked up. It has a run time of an hour on normal setting. The hand vac has very powerful suction and cleans well! The app works well and you can set up a schedule for the robot to run on its own. The cliff sensors work as described and it avoids going off the step down to the sunken back living room. My wife loves it!
