Home automation welcome!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tested this bot on carpet, tile, and hardwood floors. The first thing you have to do is download the app and get it connected to your wifi (2.4ghz). On the first run did take a bit longer due to it having to map the rooms but once its done the next round goes a bit quicker. After its done with its first run you can then view the map it created in the app. Its very detailed. You can clearly see all the rooms it scanned and what it could and couldn't get to. Very cool! It did a great job of picking up items and dust. Note that mine did get a bit scratched up on the top from going under beds and dressers. One of the things I was really concerned about but did a fantastic job of was avoiding drop offs. Its drop sensors work really well. It never fell down any of my drop offs or stairs. What I really like about this model is that you dont need a physical "virtual wall" to prevent it from going into an area. You can just go into the app and draw a line where you want it to stop and it works! As for noise its not too loud. Its is a lot quieter than my dyson vacuum. Because of the bots size it couldn't get in all the smaller spots I need it so assuming I let it run on a schedule I would still need to do a bit of manual sweeping or vacuuming every once in a while to get that deep clean. Just remember to empty it often because its container is not very large. My house is multi level so to get all of my house I would need one for each floor, which I’m actually now considering. You can move it to a different floor but then you have to map that floor again, at least with this model since it only saves one floor plan, and manually move the vacuum/docking station so you lose some of that automation. The android app is really nice. Its very clean and easy to navigate. It provides the room map, how many sq feet it covered, and some historical stats on how long it took to do the runs, battery power, lets you pause/continue cleaning, and so on. You can also setup a reoccurring schedule which is actually quite easy to configure. Looks like the bot updates automatically via wifi so thats really nice not having to do manual updates.

Decent Robot Vacuum - Middle of the Line Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Botvac D4 robot vacuum is a "D" shaped autonomous vacuum cleaner in the Neato line of vacuums. It has a nice design, somehow not as nice looking at the higher end in the Neato line but still good looking vacuum. It sports app connectivity so one can schedule and control cleanings from a phone or smart device. Cleaning performance is good, the same as what you'd get from a single pass from other robot vacuums. A solid performer, just doesn't stand out too much. Your first run will be used to map the area to be cleaned. WIth battery life of a bit over an hour, that's enough to clean a small apartment or basement in one shot. The D4 allows for one map/configuration so you'd likely limit it to a single floor rather than relearning a "new" place every time it's used. From there, one can schedule cleanings or trigger them manually. One feature not present in this base model is the ability to target areas for additional cleaning - what you'd use for high traffic places or those that either naturally or due to how things are organized, attract more debris than others. Due to that, you may instead just compensate with more scheduled cleanings to stay on top of things. The mapping ability isn't degraded being the base model. I was very pleased with the coverage achievable with the D4. One additional feature the D4 does carry is the ability to set virtual robot "no-go" zones. These are easy to set up and don't require adding physical items in your room. Pretty much you're drawing a virtual wall for the robot in it's map of the cleaning environment. In all, I'm pretty happy with the D4. It will be a good basement workhorse. The features and capabilities today make it a solid 3 stars, perhaps a stretch for 4.

Very impressed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although Neato isn’t the first brand you think of when talking about robotic vacuums, it shouldn’t be overlooked. The fact that you can control it from your phone is very handy. I have my whole apartment vacuumed by the time I get home from work. It’s quiet. I can vacuum my apartment 3 times before having to charge it. It’s shape is unique to other vacuums, it gets corners much better than the round ones I’ve seen.

Amazing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing works with my Alexa, picks up everything on the floor and I have carpet and tile and knows where it is in the room. This is the best $500 spent anywhere I don't do this good of a job cleaning my floors and my robot does whether I'm home or not. Awesomeness!!!

Save your money. Two years and it quits.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing worked great for about 2 years. Now it's nothing but trouble. Lidar motor went out and after replacing the belt, the motor, putting in an expensive new battery, and taking this thing apart three times, it's now hung up on "turn my switch on". Well it's on. No more. I am not spending another red cent on this thing. Save your money and just vacuum your floors. I'm going to give this thing a fling down my concrete driveway and enjoy watching it bust into a million pieces! Trust me, I am an engineer. I can fix anything. If I can't fix this thing, then it's a piece of junk!

Posted .Hi there, we're very sorry to hear that you're having some trouble with your robot's batteries. Our very first models like the XV Series have a switch inside of the dust bin compartment and run on Ni-MH batteries. We'd like to suggest that you check if the batteries are correct first and if you would like us to have a look, please contact our Customer Care for assistance. https://neatorobotics.com/pages/customer-care

Horrible Product -STAY AWAY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two of these robots. I attempted to setup the first one. The app you use from Neato is junk and there is no way to do a desk top setup. When it instructed me to select my Wifi network I could see my neighbors WiFi but not my own. Based on Neato's troubleshooting, I changed my SSID because mine had spaces in the name. I totally disabled my 5GHZ channel just to make sure the device wasn't trying to connect to it. Finally the robot just up and quit going into setup mode. I broke down and called the Neato help line. The guy asked be to do a hard reset which I had already done but tried again. When the reset didn't work he simply said I would get an email with further instructions. The email said they were evaluating my problem. I immediately loaded the crapbots in my car and returned them and purchased a different brand. The new ones were both set up in five minutes. Then I spent the next two hours reconnecting all my devices to my WiFi network. I went with Ecovacs they are cheaper and seem to work well.

They last about 1 year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't waste your money on Neato. This was our second one. They only last about a year. I sent is back to Neato for repairs (And I had to clean it like I was going to perform surgery or they said they would just send it back.) and when I got it back it did the same thing as before I sent it in. It malfunctioned again within 6 inches of leaving the dock. I have tried using it the last two days in a row and it makes it about 10 feet. It is more aggravating then it is worth! These things are supposed to make your life easier not harder!

Purchased it in the morning returned it afternoon
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this vacuum on the morning of 6/27/2020 set it up on my wifi and did the firmware update. I then started it up on its 1st run through my condo. Ran perfect for about an hour mapping out the living room and kitchen. Then moving to the hallway it stopped beeped and a red led lit up. I checked the app and it said to reboot the unit. I held the power button down till it shut off then turned it back on. when it came back on it had to start the whole cleaning process again. I did the living room and kitchen again but then stopped beeped and red light did the whole restart process again and it had to start all over again. Did this 4 times then put it all back in the box and took it back to Best Buys. They were very nice and gave me my money back. I was not going to call support on a vacuum that cant work right out of the box. I have a older Deebot 85 that works but recently decided it need to thank me constantly for emptying its in bin I could not get it to stop beeping so I removed its speaker and that stopped the beeping. think it is time to try a new brand.

Horrid Vacuum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not only are there problems with vacuum, BestBuy only has a 14 day return policy. I contact manufacturer and they say well if it isn't working then you have to take it back to the store. So if it stops working within the first two weeks you are covered, but if it stops working two months after you purchase then you are "tough out of luck". Second time I bought from BestBuy and both times I have regretted it. So unhappy first time took ten years to give them a second chance. Never again. Looking forward to the stores being shuttered.
