    Great entry-mid level robovac

This is a great entry to mid level robovac. I mainly used this on the hardwood floor since I'm to tired to Swiffer the floor everyday. I have to Beagles mix that sheds like crazy and keeping up is hard. Setup is a breeze. Connect the two spinning brush heads, flip the switch on, press AUTO on the robovac, connect the docking station, put batteries in the remote and press the home button on the remote so the robovac can take it's beauty sleep. Let it sleep for 4 hrs before use. In my initial test, I did Swiffer the floor first and set the schedule to run at 4 am. I woke up the next morning to a very clean floor. I didn't see a lot of dog fur on the floor. The places I did see, were places it couldn't reach, like the multiple legs of an IKEA sleeper sofa. It was very quiet. It didn't wake me or my two dogs up. I took the dustpan out and was surprised that it picked up more dog fur than sweeping. I was amazed. I did try it on carpet. It's ok. It's not meant to deep clean a low-medium pile carpet. You still need to whip out the vacuum but it's perfect for the in-between maintenance. It did pick up a lot though. I'll attach some pics. Pairing to the phone is a little tough. Even if you connected to the 2.4GHz band, the phone had a hard time finding the robovac. I figure I let it charge for 4 hrs and try again. It paired after the 4 hrs. The phone app is very basic. It's almost like the remote, well it's a digital version of the remote but this is where you can see battery status, health of the brushes and filter, set schedules and the only place where you can adjust the suction power. I didn't see that on the physical remote. Two modes, Standard and Max. If you have MAX set and a schedules to run while you're sleep, then you are in for a rude awaking. It's loud and it seems like it runs into objects a lot harder. I'm on the 4th floor in my complex and I'm pretty sure the person below me can hear this thing running around my living room. It's fine in standard mode. The tracks is another thing. It squeaks when it turns in MAX. In standard mode its quiet. Keep this in mind if you have it running while you're sleeping. On standard mode, it's not loud at all. You can watch TV and have a conversation will this is running. Max is slightly louder but you can still watch TV and have a conversation. Anyways, it definitely a good robovac on hard surface. I'll post pictures up.

Seriously doubted myself when buying this and not a roomba, but WOW! The suction is amazing. It cleans everywhere you want it to. It has gotten into spaces I didnt think it could get out of and gotten out. It has only been stuck once and that was our fault. It cleans the rugs better than our regular vacuum! Super buy for us. The stuck in pet hair is out! Which the reg vac could not do. Plus it's super quiet compared to the roomba! We can watch TV with it running. Very pleased with this!

This is the first robot vacuum I've used and chose it because it had good reviews and a great price. It has worked well on hard floors and carpet in my home. We have a dog so its great for daily vacuuming. After the first time or two using it I made sure to block off any areas I didn't want it to go in or get stuck in. It got stuck between the wheels of an office chair and under another chair at the counter. It could fit between the legs but kept missing the small window to get back out when it spun around. I found it best to run the vacuum when nobody is moving in its way, it doesn't seem to cover all areas then. When its able to run without interruptions it seems to cover 95% of the floor even though it moves randomly. Overall its a good entry level vacuum, which is what I was looking for.

    Can't replace the conventional vacuum

This is our first ever robotic vacuum, so we were literally noob in this field. I had to watch few youtube videos to get started on his. We were all excited to use this. First of all, if you have carpet at your home, bear in mind that this robotic vacuum can't replace the conventional vacuum because it will not clean as good as you yourself. After all, it's a robot, not a human. We have wooden floor in our kitchen where it cleans little better than the carpet. On the carpet, we still have to vacuum with our dyson after the Deebot finishes its business. First of all, let's see what comes in the box: 1) The ECOVACS Robotics DEEBOT N79SE itself 2) Two round brushes 3) Charger and cable 4) Remote Control 5) Brush for cleaning the vacuum and round brushes 6) Two AAA batteries 7) Owner's Manual Ecovacs instructs users to charge the vacuum for at least 4 hours before first use which we did and gave it a try. It has been doing a decent job but again does about 80%, not complete which is okay for the excellent price. It can be connected with your wifi but only with the 2.4 GHz not with 5 GHz. The instruction on the box also tell that it can be connected with Google home or Amazon Alexa. We own a google home, so I was excited to give it a try. It was relatively easy to set up but honestly, this feature works sporadically. Sometime, we would ask google to start the Deebot and it would reply with its typical response: "Sorry, this device has not been set up yet" but will work the next time if requested, literally after 5 seconds which is just ridiculous. I'm not sure if this is the problem with our google home or the vacuum itself. One feature that I really like about it is when it's about to die, it will automatically find its charger and dock itself to recharge. I'm not sure if its a new feature or an industry standard as it's our first robotic vacuum. Deebot also came with a remote with several modes and an added bonus of a digital clock. You can also download Ecovacs app on your phone which again is just average. Half of the time, it shows the vacuum to be offline. So I have to close the app and reopen to get it "online" but that's the issue with the app not the vacuum. I just wanted to bring it up here as a heads up. Pros: -Does job for you automatically when you are feeling lazy -Has different modes of cleaning -Can be scheduled for cleaning -Automatically charges itself -Not very loud Cons: -Didn't work well with Google home -Was hoping replacement brushes but they were not provided -Does not completely clean the house, additional vacuuming needed -The App is useless most of the time, you are better off using the physical remote -Does not has a handle to lift It's a good product overall with few minor issues but for the price, I would definitely recommend it.

I’ll be honest this was a very random impulse buy. Years back I had a Rumba vac and it did it’s job, that is until my youngest child decided to ride it around the house. Needless to say.. that was the end of that. So now that I can Confidently own a new one we went with it. With that said, this is great for daily up keep. It is no replacement for all your vacuum cleaning needs. However it dose truly suck everything it comes in contact with. I live on the ocean shore where beach sand constantly finds its way in my home. So this has been a lifesaver for keeping sand where it belongs. Off my floors.

Entry Level Robovac - Better Than Expected

The Ecovacs Deebot N79SE is an entry level robot vacuum. It has a good design, solid construction, and a pretty slick user interface. The Deebot has done a nice job cleaning the main level (600 sqft to clean) of my house for the last week, or so. I have experienced some teething problems, but overall I am happy with its performance. Design and Features 4/5 The Deebot follows in the footsteps of many other robovacs with its round design, measuring in at Ø12.5” x 3” tall. The robot itself is pretty lightweight, which I’m sure helps with its battery life. There are 2 main rubber wrapped drive wheels (and suspension), and a centered swivel wheel that allow the Deebot to get around most obstacles. The main brush is centered between the drive wheels and measures in at 5.5” across – somewhat small which means more passes to clean. The V shaped brush is also supposed to be a more efficient design. The side brushes (located on either side) help sweep dust and crumbs back towards the center and allow the vacuum to get into corners somewhat well. The dust collection bin has 3 stages of filtering, and a decent sized capacity to boot. This robot also appears to be very easy to service and maintain, which is a plus. Lastly the robot comes with a handheld remote to control the robot if you don’t want to use the smartphone app. The Deebot has 4 main modes – Auto, Edge, Spot, and Single Room. For all these modes you need to close doors or put up barriers for areas you don’t want cleaned. Auto is the standard mode that will clean your house and then return to the dock to charge. Edge will clean the perimeter of each room. Spot will start wherever you set it and spiral out from that point for 3 minutes. Single room cleans a…single room. Just make sure to close the doors or barricade the Deebot into the room. The app has a consumable section which tells you the life of your filter, main brush, and side brushes. Within the app or with the remote you can schedule cleanings. Setup 5/5 Setup was very quick and painless. I placed the dock in a location with plenty of open space around it and plugged it in. I set the robot down on the dock (make sure the charging contacts are aligned), and I flipped the switch on the side of the vacuum. I let it charge for a few hours before doing the setup. I downloaded the app on my phone (Android) and followed the in-app prompts to complete setup. I was able to connect to my Wi-Fi without an issue, and the process was really easy to follow. This was one of the easier smart home devices I have hooked up. Vacuuming Performance 4.5/5 Overall I’d say the vacuum performance was above my expectations. It was able to fill its bin each time it went out. I made sure to litter the floor with extra crumbs (large and small), courtesy of my 5 year old, to see how well it would pick them up. It didn’t miss a speck. The extra brushes did a nice job of sweeping dust up from along baseboards. Fine particle dust was collected surprisingly well, and the filters did a nice job of trapping it in. The vacuum is pretty quiet too. You can hold a conversation over the little bit of noise this vacuum makes. My only knock on the performance is due to the size of the main brush, which requires it to make that many more passes to complete its job. Navigation Efficiency 3/5 The Deebot utilizes a random, crisscross style to clean the floor. In doing so it makes multiple passes over the same area to get it clean. The random pattern works well in terms of getting the floor clean, but it crashes into objects frequently. However, it spends a lot of time going over the exact same areas (it cleaned the same corner of my kitchen no less than 20 times in 45 min – see the issues section). The Deebot seems to get lost or confused about where it needs to go, and will just revert to a path it has already traveled. This doesn’t happen often, but it does happen. This wastes precious battery life that may be needed if you have a large home. On a perfect (issue free) run the Deebot can be efficient with its time, but it requires some trial and error configuring your home to get to that point. It does a nice job around stair edges, and never once threatened to tumble down. That’s a plus. The Deebot really needs you to optimize your home for it to function at its peak. Picking up items from the floor, blocking off areas it might get stuck (it gets penned in under chair legs and side tables), and not moving items once it has come through. That last one is important because the Deebot really seemed to have issues if objects in a room moved after it had already come through. The Deebot can foist this issue onto itself by bumping into lighter weight items and moving them around. A lot of this is trial and error, so keep an eye on your robot for the first few cleaning sessions to see if it struggles anywhere. Issues An issue I found, as I alluded to above, regards moving objects once the Deebot has started. Other robots I have seen just shrug it off, but the Deebot is stubborn. My example of this was when it cleaned my kitchen. I put the chairs up on the table to allow the Deebot to clean underneath. It made several passes underneath the table, and it seemed like it was done with that area. Since it was dinner time I put the chairs down so my kids could sit and eat. The Deebot came back in the room to clean some more, and tried to go under the table, which it could no longer access. The Deebot then proceeded to clean my kitchen (a 12’ x 14’ room) for the next 45 minutes without leaving the room once. It wasn’t until I picked up the chairs and allowed it under the table that it was satisfied. The other issues I ran into revolved around docking. The very first time I ran the Deebot it had a ton of difficulty finding the base. The method the Deebot uses to find its base is via a low power radio signal. Apparently, my overhead lights (halogen bulbs) were interfering with this signal. I tested this a few times by switching the lights off and on. Lights on – Deebot wanders and leaves the room. Lights off – Deebot beelines for the base. It was almost comical because I could flip the light on when it was a foot from the base and it would start spinning around and eventually wander off. When it came to driving onto the dock I found another issue. I initially had the dock on carpet (medium pile), up against the baseboard. When the Deebot would drive up it would push the dock around. This freaked it out, and caused it to back off. It did this for 15 min before eventually dying 5” from its base. The next time around I put a hand on the base and pressed it down. At this point the Deebot drove up without issue. I repeated the test a few times and returned the same results. The dock needs to be 5-10lbs heavier to stop the Deebot from shoving it around. I eventually moved it onto a spot on my wood floors, where it hasn’t had an issue with docking since. What I Liked (Overall) 4/5 I think my favorite little feature for this robot is the remote. Every robot vacuum should come with a remote. My parents are tech-challenged, but I know they understand remotes. This vacuum would be perfect for people like them. The vacuum performance was excellent and surprised me with how much it picked up. The setup and app control are perfect. It’s not complicated, but it is feature rich. The navigation needs some work but it’s acceptable given the price point. Overall this is a great little robovac.

My downstairs is hardwood and tile, with a 2 throw rugs (living/dining room) and 2 mats (kitchen). I really wanted a robot vaccum but wasn't willing to spend upwards of $300 for being lazy...(Especially since I can grab a broom and sweep myself.) But this one went on sale and I figured "how bad could it be?" I removed the rugs and let it go. I was VERY VERY VERY IMPRESSED with the job it did. I didn't realize how much DUST was on my floor. Crumbs, yes; but dust?? Wow! If you are looking for a starter robot vaccum, with minimal bells and whistles (it has an App and works with Alexa!!!), then I highly recommend this one. However, one con so far: It has started by itself at midnight each night. I have contacted Ecovacs and they sent me instructions to reset it. This isn't necessarily a "bad" thing, but it wakes me up. I am willing to live with it, if the resetting doesn't work though because of the great job it does.

Great little robot vac. Gets itself out of areas I don’t think it will and when it runs over cords it tries to move away. I’ve only had to rescue it once in the first couple weeks we have had it. (My fault, it ate a pair of headphones left on the floor) It picks up a LOT of things. We have it running nightly, and are very happy with the quality so far!

This robot vacuum is truly awesome. I like that it easily moves from one level of flooring to another, like carpet to tile or carpet to rug. It does an excellent job cleaning, & I love how simple it is to empty the dust bin between uses. It’s actually fun to watch it do it’s thing.

It works well for my home office and gym. I am pleased with the deebot cleaning abilities. This deebot does not have any smart navigation and it shows. I own another deebot with smart navigation and love it. So only problem with this deebot is the navigation. After two weeks of daily use, I must use a traditional vacuum machine to clean areas the deebot misses.

This being my first robot maid, I am pretty impressed. U absolutely can't beat the hourly rate it charges! Healthcare? It never gets sick so it doesn't even need it! Its Pretty good at getting itself out of tricky areas. Also I was pretty impressed how even going along at full speed, it doesn't go "over the ledge" step down to other room. Slams on brakes and backs up. Every time. (see pictures) Also for the GENIUSES that give it bad marks cuz it got stuck under a couch and made a mark cuz wheels kept spinning, THEY CANT MAKE THINGS IDIOT PROOF. WATCH IT the first cpl times to See How It Handles every room it can get to!! And block things Common Sense would say to fix (like cords, papers ect.).

It worked for a while. I bought this vacuum in April 2020. In November 2020 it decided not to charge. Every time I place it on the charger the light goes blue for a second and then goes blank. It does not recharge it has not recharged for couple couple weeks now. I will be returning this product. Hopefully it’s still under warranty. When it did clean, it did very well, but I did not buy a vacuum to last less than nine months and you never connected through Wi-Fi. Never.

Pros: * Quieter operation than most competitors. * Enough suction power to clean most floors. * Slim design fits under most furniture. * WiFi connection and comprehensive and useful app. Cons: * A tad cumbersome to set up on WiFi. * Relatively small brush roll. * No room mapping. I have had numerous robotic vacuums since they first came out. In general, the higher-priced ones are worth the extra money because they either have better navigation systems (work more reliably), have better suction (clean better) or have useful extra features (automatic docking, scheduling, etc.). This DEEBOT is a great value because it is what I would call an economy robotic vacuum based on its price, but but compares more favorably to the models at the high end of the price spectrum in terms of features. There is no fancy laser or camera-based guidance system, but it reliably cleaned several rooms without bouncing into too many things. I would call that good enough. The brush rollers on the bottom are on the small side (narrow vacuum path) but it seems to get the job done well enough - another win for the DEEBOT. In fact, it’s quieter than most while still working well. This unit has WiFi and app capability. Setup was more time-consuming and confusing than I would have expected, but once set up it works well. Be sure to select the correct app (for iOS use “ECOVACS” and not “ECOVACS HOME” at the time of this review) as there are two available but only one works with this model. The included infrared remote control does a lot but the built-in scheduling in the remote is basic - repeated cleaning every day is the only option. In the app, however; you can easily set up more useful patterns for weekly cleaning like every Tuesday and Thursday, etc… So far, I have not once witnessed an issue with this bot getting lost or stuck. Every time it has ended up on its charging dock as expected with a full dust bin. While this DEEBOT may not have the brand name recognition of some of its more expensive competitors, it works well and cost much less. I would recommend giving this bot a try first rather than jumping on one of the pricier models from the other guys.
