This replaced my old blender and WOW! No contest. It blends everything so smoothly and evenly. I haven't used the soup function yet, but am looking forward to it in cold weather. I have used the clean function and that is really a blessing. You think it's clean at the bottom until you use that button. The cons for this blender are: its very heavy. I wish they'd put the heating element in the base instead of the pitcher. Its loud, but the smoothie function lasts 45 seconds. I can live with 45 sec for great smoothie.

Too tall, too heavy, cannot remove base-not4me

Its a good blender, works as described, heats things up, makes soup, crushes ice, etc. BUT the jar is permanently affixed to the base which is very heavy. This affects how it can be cleaned because of the built in heating element. I used the self-cleaning feature every time I used the blender and it worked pretty well, just needed a rinse out afterwards. But it is such a big tall jar with that 4 inch base attached that even getting it under the tap to rinse it out was a chore and annoying. Even empty it is very heavy to carry (and I carry an 18 pound baby around). It is also incredibly tall. Sitting with the jar/base in the machine I couldn't slide it to the back of my counter because it didn't fit under my cabinets. So it had to sit at the front of my counter, in the way, taking up valuable work space even though I don't even use a blender weekly. It also didn't fit in my kitchen fridge on any of the shelves and in order to configure the shelves in a way to fit the blender jar I would have to reduce down to 2 shelves only in the fridge. So any leftovers I wanted to leave in the blender jar for later I would have to take down to the fridge in the basement where it fit. As if the size of it and fact that it just didn't work in our house wasn't enough, the fact that you cannot remove the base meant that I had to spend 10 minutes painstakingly using a spatula to try and get any thicker pureed type things out from under the blades. Normally I would have just taken off the base and let the leftovers fall into a glass, container, whatever. But you can't do that if you cant take the base off. But if its a thick food in there that you can't pour out you are literally wasting 1/2-3/4 cup of it in the bottom of the jar under the blades. Removing it with a spatula takes forever and you will damage your spatula. I was going to be using this to make baby food mostly and 3/4 cup of puree is a lot to waste. Needless to say I returned it.
