I recently purchased this computer along with Microsoft 365 for my wife as a gift. The computer is just fine. However, she did not need the Office 365. Although my Best Buy online account indicated the deadline to return the Office 365 was 3/8/2020, the in-store managers refused to allow the return EVEN THOUGH I SHOWED THEM MY ACCOUT INFO. To make it worse, the Best Buy website specifically states unused Office 365 can be returned within 30 days for all customers. I called corporate, and they had no idea why they would not allow the in-store return and even sent me return postage. The staff and managers were incredibly dismissive and did nothing to assist. I’ve never experienced such horrible in-person customer service. Ever. The store location is Southside, Jacksonville, FL. Avoid at all costs. Worst part is I had my 7 year old daughter with me, and we were planning to buy a family video game, not to mention the $200 cable modem I went there to buy. Simply awful Best Buy.

I was upgrading my Acer Chromebook 15 when I purchased this. The Acer is great and is still in use in my home but I wanted higher ram and a faster processor (the Acer was only 4gb and an older Celeron). I also was wanting something the same screen size. This ticks off all those. I will say I was hesitant to buy this because I didn't really want to go back to a fanned unit after having a Chromebook for years without one but decided the improved speed and ability to handle heavier tasks was worth it. I had previously bought and returned the very similar HP 14 2-in-1 about a year ago because the fan kicked on LOUDLY every several seconds simply watching a YouTube video with only 2 other Chrome tabs and nothing else open. I was worried about that but I'm happy to report while I have heard the fan on this a few times it's been a quick and quiet whirl instead of the full blown blast the 14 was (confirming my belief and the reason I returned the 14 that it wasn't working correctly). When I first received this and set it up I decided to test it buy launching 6 different YouTube videos and playing all at once just to see how it handled it. It easily ran them and swapped between the tabs. On the regular though I'm "watching" a YouTube video in one tab and might have 3 or 4 other tabs open as well as constantly running the Android app version of Google Voice up for texting purposes. It hasn't so much as flinched and I'm certain I could easily run much more. The only reason it's not getting a full 5 stars is I do find it a little heavy. According to the specs it's only supposed to be 0.4 ounces heavier than my Acer but it feels much heavier. That said it's a very sturdy build so I'm not super mad at the heft. I would just warn this probably isn't the machine you would want to chart with you to school every day. But you do you! I'm using it in my bedroom where the most I'm doing is moving it from my bed to my desk and vice versa. Finally while I think with what you get it's worth the full asking price I would warn to try to wait out and wait for this one sale. I got it for $399, my understanding is it goes on sale around that fairly frequently. I've even seen some reviews say as low as $350 and at that price this is a steal.

I love this thing! Pros: Love the keyboard! Keys are nice to type, backlit (can adjust with 4 levels), really happy about having a number pad! Screen's really nice to look at. Big touchscreen Laptop itself feels sleek and quality. Love the white and blue combo Performance is sooo nice. No hiccups, gets what you want done Battery seems to last. Had it on 4 hours (about 70% brightness) and asleep for almost a whole day and it's at 70% saying 8 hours left The only nitpick I have is the track pad where i notice my fingers skid/halt when using it sometimes. Probably gonna get better used to it overtime Other stuff: The screen has a bit of a warm tint where it washes colors out a little bit. You'll notice it if you're seeing it with a different screen next to it but really, everything looks wonderful anyways The brightness isn't really high. You won't see much if you're gonna use it outside This isn't a 2-in-1. You can opt out the number pad and get the HP x360 14 for that but get half the storage and default to an i3 processor. (Some of them come with i5 instead if you're lucky, check the box to see) Speakers are your typical laptop speakers, no bass etc I hear people say the fans go loud a lot but I've only noticed it when I first set the machine up and when installing Linux apps Overall I'm really loving it and think it's gonna last a great while! I come from using Windows machines that slow down after a few months and have to restart every time I decide to use them so this is night and day for me!

I'd have to say, I'm pretty impressed with what HP was able to package into this notebook. I was excepting a crippled experience, and got something very close to the full desktop experience. On top of that, I get around 9 hours of battery life, decent touch screen, back lit keyboard. I don't feel the need to upgrade the ram or the ssd, as the laptop already feels blazing fast. Love the instant on nature of chromebooks, reminds me of my ipad, but I get so much more done. Also the lid and top of laptop feel very premium, the bottom is still plastic. Only gripe I have is that the keyboard are very flat and shallow, they are just OK to type on.

Better than a win laptop, and better than an iPad. Why? I love the dedicated, backlit keyboard with touchpad and numeric keypad. It’s nice to have a real keyboard alongside a big, beautiful touchscreen display. This is premium and well worth the price. It’s extremely snappy, great display, the touchscreen is very responsive, the 8GB ram makes things effortless, the larger 128GB storage is convenient...and the 13 hour battery is perfect for all day use. I use this for work and play. There’s nothing this can’t do well. Would be great for work, students, and streaming videos. It’s straight forward. No bloatware. Has updates thru mid 2025. Very pleased so far.

I've had 5 chromebooks and this is far and away the best. Nice screen, great backlit keyboard, excellent battery life and plenty of internal storage (for a Chromebook). This thing is worth MSRP, but if you can get it on sale - like the Deal of the Day - it's a no brainer. It's a beautiful machine and it's wicked fast. I tend to like smaller screens (14 inches or less) but npw that have this big boy, I am truly enjoying the extra real estate. I have two expensive Think Pads which are great for my windows stuff, but this thing is faster and even more fun.

Super light, clean, once you sign in 1 time, the home apps at the bottom (5) are all ready to go, browser, gmail, google docs, you tube and the play store. No more password everyday and forgetting stuff. Pros: same unit built with specs at HP is 870+ FYI Keyboard is smooth Display is awesome Batter life is great Feels like you have a large top end android phone into 1 giant laptop but without the feel of windows Os Kids love it. Perfect for school, zoom, docs Cons: (3) total doesn’t come with case or cover The overall sound is quite low Example: if TV is on and 1-2 kids in the house it’s like the speaker feels it’s at a 6-7 with current background environment noise. Yet the chrome book is at 100%. If it’s very quiet you won’t complain about overall volume, if volume is your thing like Zoom meetings and etc. I recommend Bluetooth or wired speakers. Lastly I wish the 9 key grid was more 3D button lifted to differentiate it from the main keyboard Overall note: What you get for $599 with no Windows’s Os headaches, technology, ease of use and access, 1080P HD screen, Battery, and overall quality and processing, this is a A- and In case you wanna know you can’t build the specs and technology anywhere else or buy it from another source at this price we purchased two of them

Love this chromebook, i have had many. This is the first 15 in. one and now i feel like i am on a real laptop. Most of my chromebooks were of the 11 inch size .My first from HP. Had to try a larger one. Feels very nicely constructed and lightweight, beautiful screen , very very fast thanks to the big specs that you dont see on very many chromebooks. The screen can be very bright if you turn it way up and clear. My only complaint and not very significant many to others is there is no Hdmi port. I really dont use my computers to hook up to a tv so it doesnt really matter. You can get a adapter to do this. Really am enjoying it! Got it on sale at good price. Recommended

I admit being skeptical about chrome OS on a laptop but given the specs this HP Chromebook has, the performance & long battery life has impressed me. For those interested in Linux, there’s an option to have both on the device. The screen resolution is very good and responsive to touch without dragging or freezing. The device does not get hot at all with general usage. Google has perks which allow you to download free premium software frowning device. There was a generous one year of extra “Drive” space for free. My one suggestion for improvement regarding the micro SD slot would be to allow the user to set it as a fax drive such as they do on the phones because if your device turns off it can create issues accessing files when it is turned back on.

Great investment. I mainly use this to work remotely when I'm not in the office, and to watch Netflix or Hulu. The screen is an amazing size, especially for a Chromebook. The display is clean and bright. It's also touchscreen, which is a nice added feature. The keyboard is very comfortable, backlit and includes numeric pad. The battery lasts almost a full work day. The laptop looks sleek and sturdy. Overall very happy with this purchase.

So I bought this as deal of the day. Plenty of power, fast boot up, screen is also very good for full HD. Bright enough, good contrast & clarity. Keyboard & trackpad are good too. Has a dedicated number pad that pushes the trackpad a bit left of center. Not a big negative. Do not miss my 13 inch MacBook Pro when I use the Chromebook!

Nice features like backlit keyboard, numeric keypad, and touchscreen on this machine. However, it stands out for its speed. I did a side-by-side comparison with another Chromebook, and this was the winner each time! The only real downside is the speakers are somewhat mediocre. Great customer service at the Gresham, OR, store!

The Best Chromebook I have ever had

I have had a number of Chromebooks from every brand, but this is by far my favorite. I traded my Macbook Air 2018 for this Chromebook, I couldn't be happier. I am very happy how Chromebook has improved throughout the years and has added so many functions to allow you to do more than just web browsing. Of course, Web Browsing is the number one reason why you would buy a Chromebook in the first place, but as a Web Designer and occasional Graphic Designer, I find myself getting everything I need done in this Chromebook, primarily because everything I need is Web Based. In Specs, outside the box, this compares to the Macbook Air in many ways. For example, it is an i5, 8GB RAM and 128GB Internal Memory. But, the Chromebook is faster. It turns on in just seconds. The computer updates are the fastest I have ever seen. Windows is awfully slow. Apple is fast, but not near as fast as the Chromebook. I LOVE that this Chromebook is a 15.6" screen size. It actually feels like a 17" in hand. Also, I love that it has a number keyboard. The look and feel is PREMIUM. It feels more expensive. The Google Chromebook Go does not feel near as premium as this one, and it's small. Also the Google Chromebook Go is $849 for the same specs version, whereas this one cost $599, it's a no brainer. Get this one. I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

Good laptop with an OS issue with SD cards

I generally like the HP - 15.6" Touch-Screen Chromebook Model:15-DE0523DX, as Chromebooks go it is fast has relatively large RAM and hard drive, a solid build and is one of the lower weight Chromebooks in the 15.6 inch class. The HP has a Great backlit keyboard and is the only Chromebook I have seen with a separate numeric keypad on its keyboard. Two limitations of the HP are that although it has a touch screen it doesn't support an active stylus also it can not be opened through 180 degrees only about 130 degrees so opening the laptop up flat and drawing on the screen isn't possible even with just a finger or capacitance stylus which I do on occasion with my older and heavier 15.6 Chromebook. The HP Model:15-DE0523DX has a problem at this time with micro SD storage. When you close the laptop screen and put the chromebook into sleep mode after a random period of time usually a few minutes the laptop "forgets" the micro SD card configuration and wont access files stored on the micro SD card until the laptop is shutdown and restarted or the micro SD card is removed from the laptop and reinserted. This isn't unique to the HP as it turns out it looks like issue with Chrome OS and Core I3 and I5 laptops with a internal storage of 128GB. It also might be a factor of micro SD size 128GB micro SD will usually be "forgotten" quicker the a smaller micro SD card in my limited experience. I haven't seen the problem with slower CPU Celeron, core m3 and AMD or Pentium CPUs with smaller internal storage. Now that the problem has surfaced I hope a future update of Chrome OS resolves the issue. I am giving the HP - 15.6" Touch-Screen Chromebook Model:15-DE0523DX four stars for the first two limitations and I returned it to Best Buy after 11 days because of the micro SD card issue, selecting another HP 14 inch chromebook instead.

This is an absolute awesome computer. Its features and capabilities are most satisfying. It was time for my wife to update to a new chromebook. She has had hers for years upon years. She loves it, and to be honest, after buying it for her, im kind of jealous of how nice it is. I have a PC laptop that's pretty nice, but this chromebook puts my laptop to shame.
