Great device but still need the microwave
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great all around device for baking, roasting a small chicken, cooking pizzas from scratch or from frozen. Great on frozen veggies, frozen fries and just about any frozen foods. I was even able to toast bread but not as good as from a toaster but still a pretty good crunch. Unfortunately it is pretty big and while it replaces a number of other single purpose devices like my air fryer, I still need the microwave, does not replace it entirely. Price is pretty reasonable for all it does and I only just scratching its many uses functions.

Brought down by poor design decisions
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.NOTE: TENTATIVE RECOMMENDATION In what's become all too common, this is yet another example of a product that could have been quite good, but is ultimately let down by poor design choices. After all, why put extra thought into making something good when you can just make something? On the plus side, this does work very well as a toaster for bread and bagels as well as an oven, and while I don't use the air fryer mode much, that also seems to work fairly well. That said, for this price, it better work well for its intended use, it could be better, and you're probably better off going with something else if you don't need the size. I got it mainly because it was the only one that would fit large pizzas, muffins, and multiple things at once. If you don't need that, save your money and counter space and get something better designed. One of the main issues mentioned in reviews is the writing wearing off of the buttons. While it only took about a month for the Start/Stop button to rub off, the others haven't yet, and even if they did they're obvious (top is plus, bottom is minus, then there's the light button, which is useless, and the 2 level button). The writing/labels (function, time, temp) also haven't worn off, but if you clean it regularly (I rarely clean it since my hands are always clean when handling it), that may not be the case for you. There are a couple other issues I've found with the buttons. One is there is no backlight for their labels, so good luck telling which set of buttons is for which function without adequate lighting. The second is that the button for the light, as mentioned, is useless. I'm not sure why they even bothered with it, since it almost never works. The light doesn't work unless the oven is running, including if the door is opened more than about a minute after finishing. Even starting/stopping and turning it off and back on doesn't make it so you can turn the light on, and it doesn't turn on when you open the door. So basically, just count on not having a light, because in the several months I've been using it, the only good it's done is to alert me when it's on the final minute of cooking/toasting, and I've never been able to use it when I actually needed it. Never. The max the timer goes up to is 60 minutes, so for longer cooking times, you have to set it and come back later and increase it. It cooks unevenly. The most noticeable example is with pizza, which I use bake for instead of pizza mode, since the latter seems to burn it more often than not. The front of the pizza (closer to the door) cooks a good bit more than the back, so if you don't rotate it midway, you'll have half of the pizza anywhere from more browned to (usually) burnt and the other half will be pretty much just right. The 90-second preheat claim is BS. I'm almost certain it just beeps and starts the cooking timer after 90 seconds regardless of the temp set or reached. I don't have an oven thermometer to verify, but when it acts like it's done preheating, you can reach in and it's barely warm. Also, I set it to 350 and let it preheat a bit, then turned it up to 400+, apparently just by chance right before the preheat timeout, and it still beeped saying it was done preheating a few seconds later. Unless it went up another 50+ degrees in a few seconds, it was full of it. Similarly, if you preheat it to say 350, then turn it to 450, it doesn't switch to preheating again, it just keeps going normally as if nothing changed. I don't think it actually has an internal thermometer. That said, if you put your food it when it says it's ready and cook it for the specified duration, it cooks properly, if not a bit too much, but I think that's more because it just takes longer to get to temp than it says but then runs hot. The pans that come with it aren't a good non-stick, so using them under the frying basket results in them getting very greasy and sticky, which can't, in my experience, be cleaned off. After realizing this, I started wrapping it with tinfoil so that can just be discarded periodically. Finally, Ninja apparently sells two different models, at different prices, and uses the same boxes, so many people have bought the more expensive one only to receive the cheaper one. And Ninja clearly doesn't give a ****.

Love of my Life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Old lady Review: I love this oven. The only time I'll use my range oven will be holidays. It preheats to 425 in less than....2 min. Before I can assemble and arrange food on the trays, it's preheated and ready to go. With 4 shelves, I can cook a complete dinner, (minus the Salad!) in less than 30 minutes. It also dehydrates the herbs from my garden. I roasted pork chops that were so moist and tender. I breaded chicken breasts and baked them for 25 min...moist, tender, done! Three shelves...pork chops, french fries, breaded zucchini, roasted tomatoes au gratin.....done!!!! All to perfection. All this and it runs on a regular 110v plug, saving money. Again, I love this 'contraption'.

Impossible to clean
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do like the way this oven cooks, but only if I am making something that is covered or doesn't splatter. This oven is IMPOSSIBLE to clean. The manual says to "just wipe it out after use". Right. That only works if you like burned fingers - even with oven mitts on. It is extremely hot and if you wait until it cools, there is no "just wipe" to it. If you don't mind baked on grease showing through your glass doors, this is the oven for you. If not, look for something else.

Labels Rubbing Off After Only A Few Uses!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many others, apparently, after only a few uses, I noticed the button labels were already rubbing off, and on the most used buttons the labels were already gone. I still have the very first Ninja appliance I purchased over 15 years ago, and it is STILL going strong. In fact, I have every Ninja I have ever owned still. But none of them were of the poor quality evident in this Ninja Foodi. I love Ninja products, but I just couldn't recommend any product whose quality is so poor. Everything else seems to be just fine. It cooks just like expected, and I love the dehydration function. But I just can't get past the labels already rubbing off. Wow...

Well built, bad temperature control
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Originally tried cooking frozen fish sticks and fries. It was taking too long so took out my 2 digital thermometers and found it never reaches top temp. of 450. Wife contacted Ninja, they sent a replacement, same thing. Tried to get service address to repair it, there isn't one. Sent another same thing. I like the oven and it cooks thoroughly and evenly, but am disappointed that it only reaches 400 after about 20 minutes. Preheat cycle is only about 1 minute so not even close to long enough.
