Out of the box, this monitor feels solid! Unbox to discover very little components which is great. Base is heavy to be expected, needs to weigh down massive monitor. Turns onto stand with ease without the need for tools. Tighten 2 screws down and you're good. Stand snaps into the back plastic clip of monitor in 2 seconds. Monitor adjusts up and down with the slightest touch. Rotates in circular motion smoothly. Product specs list a tilt adjustment of 5 degrees forward and 16 degrees backward, with a 178 degree viewing angle. This seems like a very accurate statement. Only complaint while I was testing was from my son. He said he likes options on monitors that enable the monitor to be able to spin up, basically working in portrait mode instead of landscape mode. Downward facing speakers. Setup done, now let's test this bad boy!! Used my son's pc to really give the monitor the beans! He has a gaming PC with a wireless card installed. Monitor syncs up with ease. I would suggest better instructions on the operation of the adjustment buttons on the bottom of the monitor. Picture with HDMI cable installed is excellent. This thing really shines with the use of the DP cable!! The UHD 4K POPS and it's nice and vividly bright! 60 Hz refresh rate is fast enough for most, gamers out there are better suited to stick to their 120 Hz or 144 Hz monitors. Sound is GREAT ! Downward facing speakers create a sound that fills the room nicely! The Good: solid built, SUPER easy assembly, size of screen, input options, quality super crisp speakers The Pretty: wired up, the UHD 4K display on this thing is a beast, bright and colors pop. I went out of order on purpose, because for me, wireless option was a great sell point, however, alas, we have come to. . . (drum roll) The Bad: The wireless is bad, very laggy. I'm strictly talking YouTube, and mouse movement here, I hadn't even got to the games yet. Reminded me of my old dial-up modem computer from the 90s. I mean, it syncs quick, and functions, but the performance is unbearable. Overall, if you keep a DP or HDMI cord in this guy, it will make your eyes happy as they can possibly be in 2020. Very nice! 5 stars if not for the wireless.

HP’s new 4K Wireless UHD FreeSync Monitor is truly beautiful. The bezel-less 4K display and size can give your office space a new touch as well as give you an advantage in your photo, video editing, or any professional work. If you looking to buy a new monitor, this monitor may be for you. ===================================================================================== IN THE BOX/ADJUSTABILITY: In the box, you will receive the 4K 27’’ monitor nicely packed, the AC adapter, the power cable, an HDMI cable, the stand, and a VESA mount adapter. The set-up was straightforward and easy. No screwdriver is required to attach the monitor to the stand. The monitor is height adjustable, as well as able to move freely to the left or right, and tiltable at an upper/downward angle. I enjoy this maneuverability as this will make it a lot easier to add other monitors without the hassle. If you are looking for a monitor to place vertically, unfortunately, this monitor cannot be rotated vertically while on the stand. ===================================================================================== PHYSICAL FEATURES: The monitor contains several ports. An HDMI port, an HDMI cable is provided so you do not need to supply one. A DisplayPort Version 1.2 port, three USB 2.0 Type-A ports, an audio input, and a headphone jack. There are speakers built into the monitor which aren’t the best but do suffice if you are looking for a decent sound. I decided to attach an external soundbar for a better sound experience. The monitor has 4 buttons on the lower right-hand side. A button to access the main menu, a brightness adjustment button, a volume button, and a button to switch between inputs. There is also a slot to slide your cables through on the stand for better cable management. A great decision by HP! A heads up. As of December 2020, Best Buy’s website mentions the monitor is a touch screen display. This is NOT true and is likely a mistake on Best Buy’s part and hopefully will be fixed as soon as possible. ===================================================================================== DISPLAY QUALITY/USAGE/FEATURES: Now for the display. The display is beautiful and displays vibrant colors. The bezel-less display makes the 27’’ display appear larger than it is. I tested both Wi-Fi Direct and HDMI connections. Wi-Fi Direct while convenient, did not display the best quality. The best I got out of the wireless connection was 1080P seemingly. HDMI connection displayed true 4K quality and provided the best user experience. Not only was quality a lot better but colors were more profound and had a better appearance. I will stick to the HDMI connection for now and will be using Wi-Fi direct connect when needed. Wi-Fi direct connect also is supported by phones. I did manage to connect my Android phone to the display. The monitor does contain IPS technology which gives the monitor a better viewing experience from any angle as well as enhances the colors displayed on the monitor. After using the monitor for a while, the IPS technology in this monitor does indeed enhance the image quality immensely. There is a trade-off though, the monitor does have a 60Hz refresh rate making this monitor not too suitable for gaming. I would not use this as a gaming monitor. This monitor would best be used for photo editing, video editing, graphic design, and general professional work. ===================================================================================== CONCLUSION: Overall, HP’s new monitor is truly captivating. IPS technology allows the monitor to be viewed at any angle as well as enhances the image and colors displayed. The bezel-less display and maneuverability are great as it allows for a better multi-monitor setup. This monitor is an excellent choice if you plan to use this professionally for video editing, graphic design, or any other professional work. I wholeheartedly recommend this monitor to anyone who is looking for a professional monitor for their space.

I personally have been using two matching high-end 2k 27" monitors for a while now. However, I have been wanting to get my hands on a 4k monitor for a while now. I have to say I am impressed with this HP U27 4k monitor. I was not sure if it would look better than my other two but it does and it is about $150 less than each of the other two I have. This has me seriously considering buying another one of these HP U27's to replace the other two. Currently, I have it in a different room where I use it with my laptop which is very handy considering it is wireless. I can easily walk in the room take my laptop out of my backpack and quickly connect wirelessly with no issues. Not only that I have not even been able to tell the difference between wired or wireless. I found this aspect to be particularly impressive since I have not experienced any lag or screen degradation even though it is running in 4k. This HP monitor rotates on its stand moves up and down and tilts and seems to be very well built. Additionally, the HP U27 features an HDMI port a Display Port 3 USB ports as well as a headphone jack and another audio jack which is either a mic jack or a speaker out not sure yet. It also appears to have a spot to hook a locking cable into it. It has you covered on input and output ports for whatever you want to do. Another feature it has that is impressive is the built-in speakers which sound surprisingly good! I feel like this HP U27 4k wireless monitor is a great value! I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a 4k monitor!

HP - U27 27" IPS LED 4K Wireless UHD FreeSync Monitor Summary: A great looking and feature-packed display for 4K newcomers. Pros: * At 27" diagonal size, it's on the lower end of offerings. This can free up space on your desk and still give you a large enough viewing experience to get work done. Larger displays might be nicer (geek wise), but they are also impractical monitors if used at 4K for non-gaming uses. * Svelt. The near bezel-less design looks pretty sleek. The natural silver metallic frame gives the unit enough pop without being extra. * Thin and light! This unit is surprising (or not-so-surprisingly?) thin and light. This makes mounting using an arm (as I have) a lot easier. * Functional stand. Though I am using an arm to hold my display, the stand it comes with is substantial and sturdy enough for the motions it promises. I've owned many displays and all too often, they try to save space by doing weird footprints that end up being more inconvenient than a simple flat rectangle. * Features. I made the mistake on my last monitor (I blame getting confused on the various models I shopped) of selecting one with the features I missed or didn't think about using until later. Among them are: BOTH HDMI and DisplayPort (v1.2), Speaker-In/ Out, 3 USB-A ports, Wireless Display capable, Kensington Lock compatibility, AMD FreeSync capable, a standard and acceptable refresh rate of 5ms. Cons: * Wireless Display is wonky and annoying to set up. I had some difficulty setting this up. Since I couldn't imagine a need for wireless broadcasting to this display, I gave up. * Proprietary Power Brick. It, like many displays, uses a proprietary power brick. I'm okay with it, all my displays have been this way for years. But it is a bummer to worry about having to replace it if something happens. * Refresh rate of 60Hz. I am not an FPS gamer. I might become one. But I'm not so this refresh rate is adequate for my use. If you're not sure what this means, but you have someone telling you what to do.... try reading about refresh rates, interfaces (HDMI vs DP) and their specifications, your graphic card's capabilities, and also what the naked human eye is capable of processing. Make up your own mind. Hint: This is probably fine for you, too. * HDR support. There is none. * Downward Speakers. These aren't a detractor, but they are advertised as a feature. It's not a feature. The speakers are just average and for that reason, I've listed them as a CON. But the pass-through capabilities via HDMI or In/Out is nice. * Price. Given the competition, the capabilities, and screen size, this unit is definitely on the high side (during the holiday season when the competition is offering aggressive pricing). Otherwise, the price point is more or less in-line with expectations. Use: I use this display primarily for work. I also play a few games, some of which are 4K capable. My previous display was an LG 34WK500 Ultra-Wide display. It is great. But I found myself scanning left and right often not just while working (and Zooming), but also while gaming. I've been curious about 4K displays for a while so when I had the opportunity to get one, I did. My expectations were that I'd be able to fit more on a screen size that works for my field of view. i.e. No more panning. Work-wise, this seems counter-intuitive because you'd expect to have multiple documents and windows open on a wider display to be more convenient. It is! However, I'm shifting my work style to focus on fewer tasks at a time so that I can get in quality time and effort. Though this 27" display is physically smaller than my wide 34" display it really isn't a problem. Due to the resolution, I can quite easily fit more windows on my screen if I needed to (at the cost of going blind). Since I'm trying to focus on fewer things at once, this isn't a requirement. So instead I will fit fewer larger windows on my screen to stay focused without having to turn my head one extreme or another. Gaming wise this change has the largest impact. I am still evaluating feelings vs real physical issues of this change. In games like World of Warcraft or Elder Scrolls Online, it is most definitely amazing to have a view spread out on a wide display. A wide display really does immerse you in the world. However, the reality is our field of vision doesn't cover such an expanse and so seems wasted (unless you have a curved display as the theory and opinions go). I've had some games that flat out won't support wide displays (older ones, true!). Officially, it is because "they provide an unfair advantage in Player-vs-Player" scenarios. I've had to avoid those games (things like StarCraft, etc). Having said all that about wide displays, 4K displays are really another beast. First, your graphics card must be able to drive such a display. It also needs to do it at a refresh rate that is acceptable to the user (see above). Second, there is the resolution itself and what it does for games that offer support for 4K experiences. It is night and day. Unfortunately, if your machine performed 1080p at 60Hz just okay, it is unlikely to give you the performance you expect for 4K. Of course, this depends on the game and the genre. FPS offers the biggest change in terms of detail and beauty but also suffers the worst wrt to performance with frame rates dropping by half or more on an existing typical setup that is a few years old. Playing Doom Eternal at 20 FPS? No thanks! And so the problem is simply what do you want to do? The games I typically play so-far look amazing with the 4K support, but the reality is that 4K is still emerging and until I feel I know when support will become the de-facto standard, I will probably hold out on a PC (or video card) upgrade - even if I could get my hands on the ones that should have been available this holiday season (2020). This means that games like Doom Eternal, Call of Duty, and Destiny won't give me the experience I need frame-rate wise. Then again, you could argue neither could this display. But 60Hz is my minimum. Other games like World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2, and Elder Scrolls might look much more improved while suffering less of a drop in frame rate. For me, my work requirements and casual gaming habit are sufficient to justify this display. It is still weird seeing so much more of my desk and what is behind it (a view of my neighborhood from my home's third floor). Only time will tell! Note: The features of this product are numerous compared to some other displays I've owned. It competes well in its segment were it not for competitor holiday pricing. If you're not a heavy (FPS) gamer or aren't hung up on refresh rates, this display is something to consider.

Using this monitor as a wired second screen on a new MacBook Air M1 proved equally satisfying. Though not observable to this reviewer, IPS panels do not have a high refresh rate, ideally 120Hz or faster. THIS monitor has a 60Hz refresh rate. HP - U27 is an excellent UHD 4K Monitor which is brilliant, beautiful and packed with so many features. This monitor will be great for office or personal space. If you are looking for a monitor that has plethora of features like wireless (wifi direct connect), IPS, 4K, UHD, Slim bezel, easy height adjustable stand, then simply ignore the other monitors and go for this one. The monitor was well packed. It comes with an AC Adapter, Power cable, HDMI cable - 5.9 ft (for people who still want to use an HDMI cable), Stand and a 100 mm VESA mount bracket. It takes only a minute to assemble this monitor. It was so easy. We dont need any tools or screwdriver to assemble this monitor. Features: 1. Wifi direct connect - This is one of the features that I love as it helps avoid any clutters. It was very easy to connect my laptop to this monitor wirelessly using Windows and K button. Even though the HP website refers to Intel i5 and above.... My laptop was a AMD Ryzen 7 and i was able to connect to this monitor wirelessly without any issues. If you want to connect this monitor using wifi please make sure you have very good wifi reception. Having said that, if you want to enjoy the true 4K quality without display stutter or lag I would suggest using the HDMI cable as the AMD FreeSync technology works only with wired connection and not wireless. 2. Height Adjustable stand - It is very easy to adjust the Monitor height up or down. I thought it will be little hard to adjust but i was wrong. Also it possible to move the screen left to right or up and down (-5 to 16 degrees tilt as per HP). It makes it very easy to view the monitor for different people. It is easy as adjusting the laptop screen. 3. IPS display - This monitor has a brilliant 4K IPS panel with LED backlight display which makes viewing an absolute pleasure. My laptop also has the IPS display but i can no way compare my laptop display with this monitor as this is pure brilliance. It doesnt cause any strain to the eyes (anti-glare). 60 Hz refresh rate is very good to watch sports or movies with less distortion. Maximum resolution is 3840 X 2160. Also the thin bezel on the 3 sides makes viewing really great. Best buy has the screen mentioned as touch screen. This is not a touch screen. Hope they correct it in the future. 4. Downfiring speakers - Downfiring speakers are really great though not exceptional. The speakers are better than the speakers on the laptop. One does not have to buy additional speakers. 5. Connectivity/Ports - This monitor has 1 HDMI, 1 Displayport 1.2 version for display. There are 3 USB ports and ports for Audio input and Headphone jack. This monitor is certainly one of the best monitors i have ever had and I love it.

For all of the essential parts of a computer monitor, this monitor does a fantastic job. The 4K display quality is great, and the ability to adjust the height is really nice. If you are looking for a high quality display that handles these essentials well, you will not be disappointed! When it comes to wired connectivity options, wireless connectivity, and sound quality though, this monitor could have done better. This monitor does not have any USB C connectivity. As more computers begin adopting USB C and power delivery, it would have been highly beneficial for this monitor to have USB C and power delivery built in. Having this allows a user to plug one USB C cable into their computer which charges the computer, connects the monitor, and provides USB connectivity to the USB ports on the monitor. Additionally, to use the USB ports with this monitor, you need a USB Type A or C to Type B cable to connect those ports, which HP does not provide in the box. When it comes to the wireless display capability, I was not impressed with this. The quality was decent, but it was not the level of quality you get when using a wired connection. I went online and played some regular videos and 4K videos, and there were times where the video motion lagged or the video was degraded and not crisp. I also noticed that when looking at the start menu or other parts of windows, the quality just wasn’t quite as good over wireless compared to hardwired. Motion was also not as smooth over wireless compared to over the wired connection. It also seemed that my computer fan was running a lot and the processor was working harder to run with the wireless display technology vs wired. I also had to re-connect the monitor over wireless every time I rebooted the computer as the monitor would not automatically reconnect over wireless, which was annoying. Also, if you intend to connect a laptop to this monitor wirelessly, you cannot shut the laptop screen when using the monitor, like you can when you have a wired connection. With the wireless option, when I shut the computer screen, it disconnected from the monitor. When connecting via a wired connection, I was able to shut the laptop screen and just use the monitor. I personally do not believe that the wireless display technology is good enough to warrant any extra expense for this monitor. Depending on your computer speed and needs, the wireless may work just fine for your purposes, especially if you are not watching a lot of videos. But, unless you absolutely need wireless connectivity, your computer will run better and you will get better motion and video quality if you just plug your computer in with an HDMI or DisplayPort cable. I would not recommend spending extra money for wireless capability unless this is a feature you really need. The wireless capability works ok, but I would stick with a wired connection unless you have a strong use case for the wireless option. I was also not impressed with the speakers on this monitor. When listening to audio, at certain points there were very prominent vibrations in the audio. I have heard better sound quality on other monitors, and the vibration noises were extremely annoying. The only way to stop this was to significantly reduce the audio volume to a very low volume, and then you couldn’t hear what you were trying to listen to. I was hoping for better speakers on a monitor in this price range. If you buy this monitor, unless you really don’t care about the sound quality or use audio very seldom, I would just turn off the speakers on this monitor and get some external speakers to use. Overall, in considering the most essential functionalities of a monitor, the HP U27 monitor is a great monitor! The display itself is very crisp and high quality, the brightness is good, and the ability to adjust the height and turn the monitor to the left or right are really nice! The being said, some of the other features and capabilities were not that great, so I would consider those and your needs when determining whether to buy this monitor.

Who knew shopping for monitors was so complicated! I remember the day when you had three options and it was mostly about what color you wanted the case to be! It seems that today you need to match your monitor to your usage. Medium resolution, high refresh and wide screen for gaming, high resolution and color accuracy for photo editing, low resolution x 3 (or 4!) for work at home productivity. At the end of the day I just couldn't figure out where this monitor fit in. First impressions were great! This monitor is BEAUTIFUL! It's nearly borderless on 3 sides and the build quality is excellent. Putting it together was simple and there were no major squeaks or creaks when adjusting the tilt and height - it was like butter. My work computer has a wireless display feature and I was excited to reduce the number of cords on my kitchen table - turned office. However, no matter what I did I couldn't get it to connect. It's likely not an issue with the monitor and more likely an IT restriction placed on my laptop config. On to option #2 Display Port. I plugged in my cable and...nothing. I toggled the inputs....nothing. I was finally able to go into settings and find an option for Display Port 1.2 or 1.1 and it finally connected! You would think that it would be more plug and play friendly in today's day and age. Once I got the monitor working it was OK. Text was crisp and colors bold. I wouldn't say it was anything better than any other 4K monitor I've seen. MSRP on this monitor is sort of high compared to other monitors and this is where they lose me. At this price I would expect USB-C with pass through charging capabilities and there was none so there's little value to a MacBook user. At this price I would expect a web cam and a mic but there is none so there's little value to the stay at home worker. Gamers are likely to prefer monitors with a higher refresh rate. So....who is this monitor for? Inquiring minds want to know. It does look good!

The HP U27 4k monitor... a great monitor with wireless capabilities. Out of the box, you get the monitor, the base stand, a 100x100 vesa mount that you can interchange with the stand, HDMI cable, and a power adapter. The monitor performs at its best when connected via HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort. Color reproduction is very accurate and different color profiles allow for various viewing experiences. Additionally, there are 3 USB 2.0 ports (type A) and audio in/out ports (to connect headphones/speakers via 3.5mm jack). The audio from the monitor is pretty decent, but don't expect a room filling experience unless you hook up speakers. Surprisingly, the audio also works well when connected wirelessly. The wireless capabilities of this monitor do quite well at 1080p however at 4k, there is noticeable lag. When connected via 4k wirelessly, there is too much jittery animation, most noticeable when watching videos or simply moving the mouse cursor around. With this in mind, it is best to stick with 1080p if needing to use the wireless features of this monitor. The stand on the monitor is very good and allows for tilt, swivel, and height adjustments. The only thing missing from the stand is rotation, which would've been nice at this price point. Overall, i would definitely recommend this monitor, especially anyone that is looking for a great 4k viewing experience for color accurate work.

Am not using the Wi-Fi capability. Direct connection to computer via DisplayPort cable. Lovely colors and resolution. It is BIG (display, very little additional space beyond screen dimensions). Easy to configure using Windows 10. Only complaint is lack of documentation. Buttons under screen are not labeled on the front and I cannot find any reference that tells me what they are.

I had been considering a monitor upgrade and came across this one. I am extremely pleased. The clarity of the display is outstanding and it allows me to view two documents on a single screen. It is also much more aesthetically pleasing than what I was using before. Everything was very straightforward. I use my computer in a more utilitarian manner, as I'm not a gamer. I've seen comments about the wireless feature not being that great, so I just wired mine straight away. The clean look and clarity of this monitor are awesome on their own. Being able to buy it on sale made it beyond awesome!

We got one of these early on in the pandemic and we’re impressed with the crisp picture as well as having hardly any frame, which makes it look so sleek and aesthetic. Fast forward that we are teleworking so often still that we bought a second one so the double monitor set has matching monitors. Easy to set up. Can mount to a desk stand. Crisp picture. Wireless sync is nice if you’d like to connect that way.

This is an amazing monitor. It is beautiful and the screen is so clear. I put away my extra speakers because they are built in the monitor. Now, underneath my desk is clear. The wireless monitor works great and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

The monitor was not quite the plug & play I'd expected. When connected to my laptop, the audio cuts out. Also, the screen resolution is not as sharp as expected. I got this monitor to use for photo editing in photoshop, but find it less than satisfactory for the quality output I'd come to expect with other equipment.

I purchased two of these at the Black Friday price. I bought them specifically to use with my new HP Spectre x360 16” laptop (Windows 1 Pro). They were very easy to set up right out of the box. My laptop always finds them wirelessly, even though I have them connected via HDMI. Resolution is running at the full 4K. Very happy and highly recommend!

Overall excellent monitor but for the price I would have expected it to swivel from right to left and the base be a bit more robust. The screen itself is very high quality.

The HP U27 IPS LED monitor makes working from home much easier with a few caveats. Inside the box we find the monitor including a nicely weighted stand, an HDMI cable , the power adapter/cable, some setup literature and a Vesa mounting bracket if you decide to mount the monitor on the wall or and articulating arm. Assembling the arm to the base was extremely easy and did not require any tools. Attaching the monitor itself to the base was as easy as sliding the monitor onto the adjustable arm and snapping it in place. The monitor is height adjustable and can be adjusted 5 degrees forward or 16 degrees backward for optimal viewing angles. The viewing angles of 178 degrees are also great and this monitor does not have any glare issues. This 27 inch monitor looks so sleek due to its edgeless bezels on 3 sides and the 4K IPS LED panel lends itself to stunning high definition images with great color reproduction. The monitor also features AMD Freesync technology which allows for fluid lag free gaming however you must use a wired connection in order to take advantage of this feature. One of the main selling points of this monitor is the ability to wirelessly share to the monitor via wi-fi direct however it does require a windows 10 computer. It was great while extending my screen for work related tasks however I did notice considerable lag when watching any intensive HD video content. Luckily there are 2 wired options that include HDMI and Display port version 1.2. I was easily able to hookup my mac mini to this monitor via HDMI and it worked great without any lag. The monitor also has nice downward firing speakers which eliminate the need for any additional external speakers. Overall this is a great 4K monitor that looks great and works great and I would have no regrets on recommending it to anyone in the market for a monitor

HP U27 4k Wireless Monitor Review Working from home for a full year has certainly changed my home "office" (aka dining room table) needs. While I admitted the need for a monitor to connect with my laptop early on, I didn't want to clutter my workspace with a bulky screen and tangle of cables. My "desk" is my dining room table and it's in full view of the rest of my apartment, so I decided I needed a sleek monitor with as few cables as possible. Enter the HP U27 4k Wireless -- could it be the perfect solution? This 4k display is both attractively-designed and compact, with a thickness rivaling that of OLED TVs. It packs a very bright 4k IPS display, multiple ports and even down-firing stereo speakers into its relatively-compact frame. Even better, it comes with an adjustable base enabling height, tilt and swivel adjustments. In addition to the 4k resolution, this monitor's marquee feature is right there in the name: wireless connectivity. Using the Miracast standard, you can connect essentially any Windows computer (or Android phone) to this display wirelessly, thereby eliminating at least some of those pesky wires. I use a Windows laptop for work so I figured this monitor from a well-known brand would be a great addition to my work from home setup. The monitor unboxed quickly and included power and HDMI cables, as well as the aforementioned adjustable stand and a VESA mount adapter. The monitor and stand click together in one motion, and the stand includes a large cable management slot to thread things through. I will note, however, that the monitor's slim packaging means it uses a large power brick with long cords on either end, much like a laptop. Just something to keep in mind (and another thing to hide somewhere if you're into a clean setup like me). Thankfully both ends of the power brick have long cords that can be snaked around the sides of a desk and coiled up near the outlet without a whole lot of drama. In addition to wireless connectivity, the U27 includes an HDMI port, DisplayPort 1.2, 3.5mm audio jack, a USB-B "out" port (that would go to your computer) and three USB 3.0 "in" ports (for connecting accessories). Annoyingly, HP does not include a USB cable to connect these ports to your computer, instead assuming you'll use the featured Wireless connectivity, which enables video, audio and USB connectivity. So let's talk about the Wireless feature: in short, I found it extremely buggy and virtually useless. Using my Surface Book 2, I first tried the built-in "connect to a wireless display" function, which did work on the second try. However, I was unable to maintain a connection to the monitor for more than a few minutes at a time. I tried updating my computer and restarting, which enabled a stable connection for a bit longer, but again, after about 10 minutes, the connection broke. Each time I tried reconnecting things fell apart after a few seconds. This led me to try downloading HP's recommended app, HP Quick Pair, from the Microsoft Store. I removed the previous saved wireless connection and instead followed the directions to connect through the app which after some fooling around did work. The app is supposed to enable seamless connections after waking your computer from sleep, as well as firmware updates for the monitor. After connecting through HP Quick Pair the app notified me of a firmware update for the monitor. Figuring perhaps some of the wireless bugs might be fixed I attempted the update... only to see the connection break, which also stops the software update download. I restarted everything and tried again, but ran into the same problem over and over. I was finally able to get the download to finish and the update to start... but for some unknown reason, it failed on the monitor itself. The HP Quick Pair app gives you the option to download the update to a flash drive, so I figured I'd give that ago, frustratingly, even if you select the "save to USB" option, the download will still fail if the wireless monitor-computer connection breaks. Even more annoyingly, neither the app nor the HP support website has any instructions for actually completing the firmware update via USB. After about an hour of fiddling around I was finally able to download the update to a USB stick after a series of monitor factory resets, computer reboots and a move to the corner next to my router. Thankfully, after downloading and installing the update on a USB stick you simply disconnect everything but the power cable from the monitor and plug the stick into one of the USB ports on the back. The firmware update started immediately and completed after a few minutes. Unfortunately, the update did not seem to solve the unstable wireless connection, although the video signal was now in full 4k resolution. I personally have had nothing but trouble using wireless display/Miracast products with multiple Surface devices; perhaps it's a Surface issue? Regardless, even with a stable connection, there's one big issue: the U27 is only capable of 4k wireless at a 30 hz refresh rate (vs the standard 60 hz refresh of most monitors/phones/TVs etc). While this seems like a minor technical issue, in practice it means that everything you see on the monitor happens half as quickly: moving your mouse, scrolling through pages and watching videos are all noticeably jittery, and let me tell you, on a big 4k monitor, it makes all the difference. So, I gave up on wireless connectivity and instead used a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to connect to my laptop, which worked flawlessly. I now have a 4k 60 hz connection, and the cable also enables audio transfer, letting me use the monitor's built in speakers. All said and done, after some cable-hiding and rearranging, I have a reasonably-clean setup and a working 4k display. About that display: it is big, bold and bright. The 4k resolution means you cannot see the individual pixels on the screen from a normal viewing distance, much like any high-end smartphone, tablet or computer these days. Once you experience it, going back to a regular HD monitor is pretty jarring. The U27 can get very bright and has a non-glare coating, making it a great choice for bright rooms. I actually had to turn the brightness down to avoid straining my eyes, and I appreciate the wide range of adjustability. Colors look sharp and accurate on screen, with HP touting high RGB color spectrum coverage. I'm not sure what viewing mode that's in, and there are a few, but I've had things set on the "custom" viewing mode and that seems to be the most accurate to my eyes. As other reviewers have said the specs may not be up to handling the most advanced PC games, but for everyday use and some Adobe editing, I am very pleased with it. The IPS LED display means images are pretty even across the screen and from wide angles to either side, which again, makes for easy use as a daily work from home setup. The speakers aren't anything special, but they work without an extra cable and are loud/clear enough for Zoom calls, which is all I use them for. Score one for not needing a separate audio cable and/or speaker setup! I'm not using the USB ports in my current setup, as they require a cable I do not have/HP does not provide in the box. I do have a webcam perched on top of the monitor and connected to my computer (through my Surface Dock 2). The camera has stayed put just fine on the very thin display, but it does overlap the top of the screen just a bit because of the very thin bezels. This doesn't bother me, but it's something to be aware of. One final complaint: HP's included stand, while highly adjustable and stable front-to-back, allows a lot of side-to-side wiggling at all heights and tilts. I notice this most when I'm typing at a fast rate and the monitor wobbles as I type; it's also very obvious when pressing the power/OSD buttons. It seems HP sacrificed stability in the name of a very stylish, minimal stand. I am considering purchasing a VESA-compatible monitor arm or stand to remedy this and allow for even more range of adjustment, as (being a tall person) I could use another few inches of vertical travel. Overall, I am very pleased with the picture quality, style, array of connections and built-in speakers of the HP U27 4k. Unfortunately, this monitor fails pretty spectacularly at its marquee wireless connectively feature, at least in my experience, and wobbles like a cheap monitor on its too-thin stand. I would say for the price the wobbling should certainly not be an issue. Unfortunately wireless display technology is often buggy across manufacturers and standards, so I don't completely fault HP here, but for your number-one feature of this display to be so unusable is frustrating. That said, I can connect audio and video with only one cable, which I do appreciate. I am truly in between a 3- or 4-star rating, but I decided to go with 4 stars for the beautiful picture, built-in audio, one-cable simplicity and attractive design. If you can live without a wireless connection and don't mind a bit of wobble using the included stand, I think this monitor is worth your consideration. That said, you can find more a more complete package for the price if you forgo the wireless connection.

What a beautiful thing to look at. 4K is stunning and I use this as my main PC monitor plus I play Xbox using this monitor and Im happy with both. Although a higher refresh rate would be optimal, 60 hz works for me in most games I play. Pros: Adjustable height, most monitors now days do not adjust in height. Brightness and clarity. Resolution Slim design vesa mounting options. (100x100) Has speakers (see cons) Wireless display but I prefer hard wired for latency. ( I did test the wireless function and didnt have an issue and it was easy to connect with windows 10) IPS panel which will give you wide viewing angles (178 degrees) Cons: 60 hz The speakers are not remarkable, they work and they are down firing but nothing special. The menu buttons, wish it had a joy stick like some other leading brands. No HDR Came with a broken wire management clip. I have been enjoying this monitor for almost a week now and even got rid of my dual monitors for this monitor so I can have a more minimal setup. You can tell this monitor is quality once you unbox it. Its just stunning to look at and beats my two 27" 2k monitors Ive put in storage now. Seriously considering buying another one of these but I like my minimal set up I have now so Im on the fence. Im not a PC gamer just Xbox and I couldn't be happier at how well the games look at 4k. Things in games are crisp and you can see details now which you couldn't before. My gaming has improved with a 4k monitor. I can see clearly now..... Super stoked I have this.
