Good looks and functionality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this air purifier in my 34ft RV with my two dogs and it really helps to keep the air fresh. When it is set to level one it is almost silent, the only indicators that it is on are the little blue light on the front and the light stream of air coming out the top. Level two is still very quiet and I can't hear it from across the room. On level three this thing really ramps up and is very audible but it is moving a lot of air. I usually just keep it in auto mode and let it change levels as it sees fit and I've yet to hear it go up to level three. The pre-filter is easily removed and cleaned while the main filter is easy to swap out. Its nice asthetics and quiet operation let it blend into the background.

Automatic Air Filter
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Blue Pure 311 Auto is just that. Automatic. Just plug it in (another GIANT plug that doesn't fit with another in the electrical outlet unless it is a flat regular plug) after placing in an area of the room away from objects like curtains and windows. Keep it at least 4 inches away from other objects. I tried this in a bedroom with both windows closed. Peel off the blue sticker that says "Press Once for Auto Mode" that in small print says "Remove this label before use" then press the little white button and it starts running and sensing the air in the room. The air quality sensor light on the side will start out red or orange then once the air quality is clear the light turns blue. You can let it run on Auto or press the button again to choose Night Mode, Everyday Mode or Boost Mode or OFF. Various bars on the top panel light up to indicate the mode. I just let it run on Auto Mode since the fan isn't very loud and the hum is steady unless it speeds up briefly to clear the air. It does blow cool air out of the top so I moved it away from the bed to avoid a draft. I let it run 24 hours a day if I was home and turned it off when I was away. Filters are available from the Blueair subscription program at a discount with free shipping. The indicator on top will change to red in about 6 months under normal conditions when the filter needs to be changed. After you change there is a reset button on top. The outside has a machine washable cloth pre-filter that you can buy in various colors. Mine is Arctic Gray. Between washes just vacuum it . Instructions for changing the filter seems pretty straightforward but I won't know how hard or easy it is until it tells me I need a new Main filter. You can also remove the top cylinder to clean the air quality sensor with a cotton swab if necessary.

A Passing Breeze
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A home with poor air quality is a bad place to be. Not only can it be discomforting for you and your guests, but consistent exposure is a health concern. Smoke, smog, dust, and other organic airborne pollutants are not things our nor our pets lungs were designed to inhale! Air purifiers are a great way to help cut down on air pollution in the home, often recommended for those who live in areas that are affected by the wildfire season on the West Coast USA. Blueair’s Pure 311 is a purifier designed for larger rooms of a medium-sized home, offering filtration performance the company claims is ideal for rooms up to 388 square feet in size. - Setup and Maintenance The Blueair Pure 311 comes fully assembled, ready to go with filters installed. Simply position it where you want it, plug it in, press the button on top once to set the machine to “Auto,” and you’re up and running. The unit is fairly compact and quite light which makes moving it from room to room fairly easy, though I would have preferred to see handles moulded into the plastic to make it less unwieldy. Additionally, the power cord is only 6 feet in length which makes positioning a little difficult for larger rooms - the best location for an air purifier will be in the center of the space, which you will need an extension cord to reach with the Pure 311. The three indicator lights on the top of the unit show its current operating mode (fan speed), and a multicolor indicator on the front provides current air quality status in three stages with blue indicating low particulate matter, yellow for moderate, and red for high. The top indicator could be a little clearer as the three ring lights are not labeled, so the only way to know which mode is which is by reading the instruction manual. Replacing or cleaning either of the two filters is a straightforward affair. The outer fabric filter (for larger pollutants) can be vacuumed for regular cleaning, and is machine-washable for deeper cleaning. It is attached by a velcro strip and is easily removed. The main filter is a disposable HEPA filter rated for 6 months of operation, which the Pure 311 monitors and will change the ring LEDs to a red color when it’s time to replace. Removal is simple as the top of the unit rotates off the base, and a further plastic ring below is what secures the HEPA filter. At the time of review, genuine Blueair replacement filters for the Pure 311 carry an MSRP of $39.99, so budget approximately $80 per year above electricity costs to run the purifier if you plan to run it 24/7. - Performance & Noise I have only run the purifier for a few days, so it’s hard to tell what difference it makes in my home long-term. I used this for two days in my master bedroom (approximately 150sqft) and for two days in my den (approximately 360sqft), the two most-used rooms in my house where dust and particulates would be most likely to gather. Neither of the rooms came up with any air quality warnings on the BlueAir upon startup. While I couldn’t notice much difference in the den, the Pure 311 seemed to help in my master bedroom, especially at night. I noticed I slept better and woke up without feeling as dry and parched as I tend to in the winter, as my home heat is a forced hot air system with a propane furnace that is not conducive to comfortable humidity levels. I could see some dust buildup forming on the pre-filter after a few days, so the unit is definitely helping in that regard. I’m sure smaller particulate matter will be stopped by the HEPA filter, but I don’t have a solid benchmark for this as my household is pet-free and non-smoking. On Auto mode, once the air quality reaches a “good” level it will set the fan to its lowest speed (same as “Night” mode) and maintain it until pollution rises. On its lowest setting the fan is barely audible - a desktop computer idling makes more noise than the Pure 311 in this mode. At moderate pollution on Auto, or “Everyday” mode, the fan makes about as much noise as a tabletop fan, while at high pollution or otherwise full power the sound gets fairly loud. Of course, the vortex the fan creates at this speed can be felt on the opposite corner of my den, so it should quickly purify even highly polluted areas. Blueair suggests an entire 388 square-foot room can be fully circulated through the filters 5 times every hour on this mode. - Bottom Line There isn’t much to say about an air purifier - it’s a turbine fan designed to force room air through a series of filters, so the only variances are going to be in size, production quality, and ease of use. Blueair’s Pure 311 hits on all these key points for medium-size rooms and homes, offering HEPA filtration for a reasonable price in a unit that can be used in multiple rooms. Minor quibbles about the power cord length and lack of grab handles aside, the Blueair Pure 311 comes recommended.

Breath of fresh air!!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My mom has asthma and this baby is a lifesaver. Mom was able to sleep through the night with no discomfort. She has an older home and dust was a problem but not anymore. I noticed a major difference myself. I really think every home should have one of these. Setup is simple and fast. Runs very quiet and unnoticeable doesn't break your sleep at all.

Simple and Effective
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As the headline suggests, the Blueair Pure 311 Auto is fuss-free air purifier that does its job. There are no remotes, no apps, no wifi connections, no additional barriers to get setup and running. Very modern in appearance, the Pure 311 Auto looks great. It's not too bulky and does not look industrial, so it should fit nicely in any household. One of the things I like is that the prefilter is a fabric wrap that can be washed/cleaned and put back on. There are additional prefilters available from the manufacturer's website or Amazon. I have the gray color, but I am tempted to purchase the green one soon for extra flair in my home. The main filter (which makes up 2/3 of the overall device) supposedly lasts about six months before you will need to purchase a new one. There are basically three settings for this device: Auto, Medium, and High. I normally have it on Auto, but may sometimes kick it into High if I cook and it's not filtering out the air as fast as I would like. Auto and Medium levels are okay in terms of breeze noise, but the High setting is pretty loud. There is a simple indicator light on the front that shines blue, amber, and red (good, moderate, bad). I have bad allergies, so I love the idea of having an air purifier in my home. While I do not have tangible proof that this does what it is supposed to, I do feel like I sneeze less in my home. I'll have to have this around for a little longer to render a full opinion, but of my one week of continual use, I think this is a great product.

Cleans Air
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As far as keeping the air clean this purifier does its job. There is an indicator that lets you know if the air is not clean. You can tell a difference in the smell of whatever room you place it in. Very quiet on the lower settings which is good. The only thing I don't care too much for is the design. The air flows up because the fan in on top which is strange. Most fans blow horizontal instead of vertically to increase circulation. I still think this would not be a bad purchase.

Works great without standing out
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very pleased with my Blueair Blue Pure 311 air purifier. Initial setup could not have been easier. Simply remove the unit from the box, plug it in, remove the sticker from the power button, and turn it on. Honestly, I have left it in Auto since I got it and have no complaints. The preprogrammed logic seems to be more than capable of keeping the air clean while minimizing power consumption. I like the simplistic design of the Blue Pure 311. It’s unobtrusive which I appreciate because who wants to draw attention to their air purifier? But if it is noticed, it’s not a bad thing to look at. While I’m on the topic, you rarely notice that the purifier is working. While the status LED is blue, the unit is practically silent; you have to be standing on top of it to hear it. When the LED is orange, it does generate enough noise to be apparent but is very reasonable. If you see the red status LED, the unit considers the air to be heavily polluted and works extra hard to clean it. It also makes a significant amount of noise in the process. At this level, you have to speak up to be heard if you’re in the same room as it. Fortunately, I’ve found that it is capable of cleaning from red down to orange levels in just a couple minutes. The air quality sensor is surprisingly sensitive but in a good way. It quickly detects all manners of airborne contaminants and instructs the purifier to increase its intensity accordingly. As one would expect, it easily senses strong smells such as cigarette smoke. What surprised me was that it also detected me cooking in the kitchen. I even discovered that the Blue Pure 311 would ramp up its efforts when I stood too close to it while wearing cologne. Ever since I plugged it in, I have noticed that my whole home smells better. Or more specifically, I no longer notice any aromas within my house even on days when I procrastinate taking out the trash. I also haven’t had to dust nearly as often. Personally, I find it to be a worthwhile addition to my home and would recommend it to anyone interested in having fresher air in their own place.

Clean Air!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bluair Blue Pure 311 is a great air purifier. We have this in our room so we can breath in nice clean air while asleep but also for the little bit of white noise that helps us sleep. At its lowest settings, you probably won’t even hear the fan going. If you set it to high, it can be a bit loud but moves the air around a lot better. Without a doubt, after having this run for about 30 minutes we could tell how clean the air was. With 4 pets it is important to us to be breathing in the cleanest air possible and this Blueair purifier does the trick. The style and look is really great also. It should go well with any decor! If you want to breathe cleaner air, and have been looking for something stylish yet highly effective, then pick this one up!

Great air purifier, blends into decor easily
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far this air purifier has been great. It looks different than every other square/boxy air purifier on the market. The white exterior and gray intake cover blends nicely with most home decor. I currently have it in my bedroom with a mix of black/tan/brown furniture, and it does not stand out. The fan is quiet and I have noticed an improved air quality while sleeping. I also like that the air filters are easy to change, and are affordable. I have had air purifiers in the past that want you to replace a $200 filter every 6 months, so these newer models with reasonably prices filters are much more economical for the average user.

Good on particles, not on odor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had my Blueair-Blue Pure 311 Auto HEPA Silent Air Purifier running in my living room now for about a month. I like the auto feature, kind of a set it and forget it option. I have purposely done things to test it out, lit a cigarette, match and cooked some things I normally wouldn’t. Some things have been by accident, like my neighbors re-enacting hash bash downstairs.. Anyhow, I have noticed a reduction in surface dust on horizontal surfaces, I’ll attribute that to the HEPA filter. I haven’t noticed a significant reduction in smells though. I have experience with another brand that handles them quite well. My bedroom is right off the living room and I have not noticed any issue with the noise the unit produces even when it winds up to full throttle. If smells aren’t your main concern I would recommend this air purifier, otherwise for the price there are better options.

Works great and is super quiet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very impressed at just how good this is. The auto mode is usually very quiet but as soon as I was cooking something that over-browned, my family said it kicked up to high to clear the air and then stepped back down. Looks easy to clean and change the filter too. Love it!
