MODEL REVIEWED NEATO ROBOTICS - D9 INTELLIGENT WI-FI CONNECTED ROBOT VACUUM - BLACK MODEL:945-0356 HEADLINE: BUGGY APP / SETUP, BUT NICE ROBOT VAC ONCE WORKING OVERVIEW The NEATO ROBOTICS - D9 does a great job on our kitchen hardwood floor. I look forward to see how it performs over time. It seems well made, and other than setup issues I can recommend it. PROs • Well built • Well packaged • Above Average Cleaning • Good Value • Long Battery Life CONs • Poor Setup Process • No Instructions or guide as to what is really happening with the vac SETUP The initial setup was a nightmare. I eventually got the unit so locked up, it had to be replaced. To complete the initial setup, I needed to find an old Android Phone, as there is a bug with the current version of Android. Even with an older phone (Android 11 vs 13), the setup was not working until after several attempts. Eventually, the App paired with the D9 and it automatically started a firmware update. Throughout the update process, the APP kept disconnecting the network. After about 20 minutes it said the firmware update failed and to “contact support”. Then the D9 rebooted by itself and apparently the firmware had worked after all and it was good to go. Once the D9 was setup, I could go back to my “real” phone and the app worked as expected. DIRECTIONS? There is a nice quick start guide, that tells you how to unpack and setup the D9. Then there is something called a manual, but it is just lawyer warnings. So, back to the APP, there really is nothing to do but press “PLAY” so then the D9 jumps into life and starts cleaning. Since this is my first robot vac, I assumed there would be a mapping step, or somehow I needed to create no-go zones. After pressing “PLAY” the D9 just rambles around without any apparent logic. It would have been nice if the APP gave me some information, such as “discovering layout” or “creating map” or anything. As near as I can tell everything is fully automatic, so there is nothing more that you need to do other than press “PLAY”. It ran about 90 minutes before I had to shut it down to eat dinner. At that point, it had mapped out about 80% of the floor, and completed a “B” job cleaning where it traveled. I don’t know if I had let it run a few more hours it would make a more complete map or do an “A” job at cleaning. I don’t know if it will tell me when it needs to be emptied or even how to empty it. Hopefully, the app will tell me what to do at the right time. As I said, without directions, I don’t know if it is just the initial mapping that takes so long or if it will be a few hours every time it runs. I’m not sure if I can move the D9 to different rooms, or will that somehow mess up the map? USAGE So far, I like the D9. Our floors were pretty dirty / dusty with fall dirt and leaves being tracked in (as well a new puppy). They were noticeably cleaner after the initial run. The D9 did a great job of maneuvering into hard-to-reach places, under counters and tables. It only got “very” stuck one time, and it eventually worked its way lose after shutting down the vacuum and rocking itself back and forth. The noise level was OK in eco mode, better than most other traditional vacuums. It was very sensitive when it bumped into things (which is good). It also really went out of its way to hug the wall when it found a wall to get as close as possible. I noticed when it returned to the base, it avoided areas where it had previously bumped into a dog toy. Hopefully, it will eventually remap those areas as OK to clean. I was worried it was going to drive off the stairs, but it sensed when it got to the stair and reversed itself before it fell down. SUMMARY As our first Robot Vac, I like the D9 and can recommend it for its value and performance. You just need to be patient with the setup process.

first time owning neato, and D9 was an interesting device! first I always enjoy how things are packaged and neato D9 was very simplistic of it was packaged, fairly fraught forward you get the device a how to instructions, filters and the plug with base charging and that’s it, I love the color black for this vacuum, it’s not really black more grey that what it is. you will need an app to get it going the setup was some what simple, beyond the fact that it kept dropping signal on me when it tells me to have an update for the latest version, the update was 15 min and it weird how the app kept disconnecting my wifi connection, took 3 tries for me to finally got it going, once it set the app for neato is easy to understand as well, you can see the map from where the vacuum have visited, from the total area it covered so far and the total time it’s been used and how many times it’s been used, I gotta give that part a plus, i’m kinda a geek on these kind of information when it comes to a deeper information about your device, so I appreciate the app for providing me that. I do have couple issues with the neato D9 though, I only have 1200sqft for my apartment but after over 1hr 30 min it’s still having a struggle to fully map my small condo, the D9 kept going back to the same location over and over it never fully visited the bed room and the guess bedroom I had. I was hoping the AI would be a tad bit more smarter than what it was, the second thing i’ve notice and I to keep watching D9 to clean was the spinning circle brush, the issue was the brush kept stopping once it hit something, so if i don’t watch the vacuum, the brush would stop and will never go back to spinning unless I press pause on the app and continue again, I had to check the bottom to make sure it was tangled with hair already or anything stuck that causing it to stop so often. the main positive side about neato D9 is the D shape of the vacuum, I honest think it’s the best shape to have because I do believe it can gets to corner a whole lot better than most rounded robot vacuum around, removing all the collected dust and dirt was also was simple. I liked neato D9 I think the device is great you can also find it on great sales to look out for that, I just wish it could map my area a lot faster considering how much you paying for this device, the app need some tweaking, I had multiple mapping and the app was bugging on me that it kept switching to two different map photos. the two mode to choose from you have eco and turbo setting, im a fairly clean person so I didn’t bother using the turbo setting on my D9. I do still recommend this vacuum maybe it could work best to some people hopefully on some issues I had is something others won’t experience, but overall a great robot vacuum it’s well built, great looking app that’s easy to use, and the vacuum itself is easy to use

I needed a vacuum for upstairs and this robot seemed like a great fit. Charging base is super slim and won't take much space in the hallway (it's not a self-cleaning dock), I did not need moping capability either. Robot is very easy to setup using Neato phone app and can get going in a few minutes. There are 2 power settings - Eco for reduced suction and Turbo for some extra power (makes it a bit more noisy), I keep mine on turbo and it's still able to go thru 800sq ft of carpet on a single charge. However - I wish navigation software could be better. Sometimes it gets stuck under furniture and while I do receive a push notification on the phone - it's also trying to say out loud what is wrong. As soon as robot is moved away from the problematic stop - chances are it will go there again! Couple of times it could not find it's charging dock even though it literally parked right in front of it! Sometimes it becomes stubborn and tries to plow it's way thru obstacles getting stuck even worse. That said - I do like slim design and miniature docking station. Emptying dust container is super easy, robot does require a brush cleaning once in a while as well.

The newest generations of robotic cleaners are a lot better than the original breakthrough robot cleaning devices, and they cost a lot less. If you tried the older ones and maybe were less than thrilled, read on, because you will find this unit to be fantastic. The NEATO D9 is an example of an advanced cleaner with WiFi connectivity and simple installation and control. I gave it five tests and it never got stuck. The old cleaning robots often got stuck in various ways. You do have to keep the robot away from electrical cords. It makes sense that wires and strings laying on the floor will need to be removed. You can also simply block the robot from objects you don’t want it near – very easily. This unit uses laser technology to ‘see’ where it is going and can not only bump and change direction but it also has something called ‘cliff detection’ so it won’t fall down stairs. You can run it in complete darkness since it will see with the lasers. I found the NEATO D9 was very agile – for example it will bump a rocker recliner and know to adjust its route. This sophisticated sensing can prevent situations where it might get stuck under the edge of the recliner if it pushed too hard to sense the obstruction. Tip of the cap to the engineers that designed this marvel. The robot cleaned 600 square feet in about 1 hour, picking up lots of dust and hair into its dustbin on what I thought was already a clean floor. My area included carpet and vinyl planking areas. The vinyl area seemed to look polished – nice. You are best served to install the MyNeato app on your cell phone. You can however, control the device from the phone or the buttons on top of the device. Charge it up and let it clean. Although I stayed close the first time it cleaned, after that I was confident I could go in the garage and work and it would be fine all by itself. When it is done, it will remember how to return to its charging dock and dock itself. One very important feature is the mapping. One benefit of the mapping is that when you return and find the device docked, you can look on your cell phone and see the map of the coverage. If you have a kitchen island you’ll see how it went around the island for example. Now you will know if it missed an area – which it never did – wonderful. You can set the device to run in eco or turbo mode which has more suction and will affect your run time. You also get the option of Extra Care navigation which will cause the device to move more gently around more delicate furniture etc. If you want more programming options you can create schedules and floor maps that may include no-go zones. Very powerful and useful for those who need these features. One point that is in the instructions but not emphasized is that you can turn the robot off by holding the ‘Start’ button for a few seconds. This will come in handy if you go off on vacation and don’t want the unit to run. I highly recommend this well designed, rugged and very useful robot cleaner.

This is my first foray into the robot vacuum world. We're a household that cleans our main floors and kitchen every day and the rest of the house a couple of times each week. We had toyed with the idea of getting a robot vacuum and finally took the plunge. Setup: Like most smart devices the Neato requires an app for use. Downloading the app and setup was a breeze. I was able to start charging and launch the initial cleaning within about 10 minutes. We decided to use the Neato in our basement as it's the largest open area and an area where our dog was less likely to interfere. Initial thoughts: The actual work that the D9 does is amazing. It's not super fast. Our entire basement took just over 2 hours. I'm not sure if that was longer because it was doing the initial mapping or what. The patterns left in the carpet were very satisfying and it made a quick and easy transition to our laminate floors without any issues at the transitions. Sounds: Here's where I'm at a crossroads. It's not loud....but it's not quiet. My wife and I work from home and it's a little too noisy to be on downstairs while we're working. Ideally it would run overnight but I'm afraid the noise will be too much as my wife is a light sleeper especially as it bumps into things or changes direction. We can manually start the cleaning when we know we'll be out and about, but that seems to miss the point of having an cleaner with automation capabilities. Doors: Our house is open concept but there are doors. We tend to keep doors shut and that's a problem with robotic vacuums. By the time I open the doors, start the vacuum on the app and let it go I might as well grab the stick vac and spend 5 minutes vacuuming the basement. I'm giving 5-stars and recommending as a product because it truly is a fantastic vacuum. For someone who leave the house for work every day or is a sound sleeper you would LOVE this vacuum. It's great...maybe just not great for me.

Currently there are a lot of products that facilitate many of the tasks that previously required some energy and time and one of those products is this robot vacuum. Personally I find this product very useful and it seems to me that it has a very careful technology and this is noticeable in how the device in the constant use improves its performance, creating maps to be able to perform a cleaning routine better and better. The device is relatively large but it seems to me that the size is justified in its performance because precisely for the size it has, it has a sufficient vacuuming power to leave the floors clean, either in eco or turbo mode the result is fair, what I think is necessary to mention is that in turbo mode it becomes somewhat noisy. In eco mode of course the battery will last longer than in turbo mode as this consumes the battery much faster in less time, it seems that it shloud be used in specific situations only to not drain the battery so fast. Included in the box are a couple more filters since one is already installed in the robot vacuum, a couple of quick start guides and safety information that I think it is prudent to read before operating the device. The vacuum includes a charger that should be placed against the wall for when once the cleaning routine is finished, the robot vacuum returns by itself to the base and starts charging, something just great. Myneato app needs to be installed, with the app you can program the device to clean the floor automatically on the desired days and times even if you are not at home, as well as delimit areas where the robot vacuum should not pass. This last function can be used once the robot vacuum has created a map of the house based on the route and the obstacles it encounters, in this sense the vacuum cleaner does an outstanding job because of their sensors and its “D” shape can run and clean better the edges and corners. Talking about performance, I think it fulfills its purpose satisfactorily, has good suction power and more in turbo mode, the compartment where the dust is stored is spacious and easy to clean as well as the roller that can be cleaned with a small brush that comes included. The only thing that I had a little trouble with was when I tried connecting the device with the phone and the firmware update was required, on a couple of times I had to close the app and reopen it to restart the installation because it stopped responding, after this there were no other problems with the app. Speaking of the app, it has the necessary options to configure and customize the robot vacuum, as well as have record of the cleaning routines, you can also check the battery status and if the device has created a new map of the house because sometimes we move furniture in place. You can also create new cleaning zones and restricted access at any time, it seems to me a very useful and intuitive app. In summary I can say that I have been very pleased with this product, it cleans efficiently, has a very complete and easy to use app and if I think logically the design of this robot vacuum in the form of "D" gives it a major advantage over its competitors. This device saves me time and makes me have one less thing to worry about, I definitely recommend it, great product.

The Neato Robotics D9 is a powerhouse. If you are looking for a chore buster, look no further, this one is for you. Setup: After downloading the MyNeato App, the setup process is a breeze. I had a small issue with the initial connection to my home WiFi, but closing and reopening the app fixed it. Firmware updates we simple. After the initial cleaning, my first Area Map was available to view. The Neato D9 gets smarter with each cleaning cycle. ** Note ** If you change your floor plan, the Neato will need to learn its new surroundings. So, it is best to be at home to un stick the D9 during a new floor plan run. Footprint: The D9 is not an eyesore by an means. It is asked that you keep a 12 inch area in front, left and right of the charging base clear for the D9. Charging and Battery Life: On a full charge, the battery has been able to do my entire downstairs (1450 SQFT) on Eco mode and have about 45% battery remaining, if I run it on non Eco mode I will have 12% battery left. I find this more than acceptable. Cleaning the Bin: This will all depend on your house, for me, I cleaned the bin at the halfway point because I have animals… Obviously this would mean pet hair and dust. If you have no animals, I do not think you would need to worry about it until the full cleaning cycle is complete. The D9 does come with 2 extra filters for the robot. Overall, I am very happy with the Neato D9. It has handled the obstacles of my home without issue and has been a solid performer thus far. I definitely recommend the Neato D9.

The Neato D9 arrived in some impressive packaging and is an equally impressive product. Simply plug in the base, place the D9 against the base to begin charging, and download the app. One step I missed during set up was the app sent me an email for verification, but didn't indicate what it was waiting for. Other than a tiny hiccup, all went smoothly. The first use was interesting since I didn't know what to expect. However, the D9 began its journey through the house, zig-zagging and going room to room in what appeared to be a random pattern. However, about 90 minutes later it was done. It only got stuck once (on a deep-pile area rug) and I confused it by picking it up and moving it a few feet. It sat for a few seconds "while it determined where it was" and promptly continued! On the second run, I simply pressed "play" on the app and the D9 did its thing. It cleaned the entire main level in about 90 minutes and returned to its base. No issues! We have pets and I was concerned that the collection bin might not be large enough for the amount of pet hair, but once again the D9 met the task. It does tell you if it's full but even after 90 minutes it wasn't. Emptying the bin is easy - simply lift it out of the vacuum, remove the replaceable filter, and dump. The filter is easily cleaned and lasts a couple months but the D9 packaging included two additional filters. While cleaning, the D9 creates a floorplan of the cleaned area using Lidar (laser radar) and does a remarkable job. You can also create "no go" zones within the app to keep it away from certain areas (like under the bed). In the event your D9 gets lost, you can tap a locate button in the app and the D9 will beep until you find it! Suction is strong enough to leave "lines" in the carpet and small area rugs don't pose any issues. It got stuck once on a "thick" rug so I simply remove that one prior to cleaning. (or you could set this up as a "no go" zone). The "D" shape design allows the D9 to reach into corners more effectively than other round brands. Even after 90+ minutes of operation, the battery was still above 50% charge using Eco mode. There is also a Turbo mode but Eco mode performed well for me. With the app, you have the option to create multiple floorplans although I haven't tried it yet. Being able to move the base/D9 to a different floor of the house sounds like a great feature. Alexa and Google are available options as well, allowing you to simply tell your assistant to "clean the house". I am very impressed with the Neato D9. It seems to be well built, and at about 8lbs, feels more substantial than some of the other plastic versions.

Starting from the beginning, the vacuum arrived faster than I thought. It comes in a very thick briefcase like cardboard box with a biodegradable well packed inside. Also included are 2 air filters, a comb to clean the brush (think dog hair clogging the brushes), a small charging base with a detachable plug and the quick start guide. As instructed, the base and Neato were placed in an area that had good wifi coverage, actually right next to my router. As I topped off the charge, it came shipped very close to fully charged; I downloaded and signed up for an online account at myneato. It took multiple attempts, but the vacuum was finally able to connect and communicate. I used the vacuum for 3 days and here are the reasons for the 2 star rating. The suction for picking up debris like a pretzel stick was lacking, although picking up the dust that accumulates on hardwood was a breeze. It may have it's own rhyme and reasons but to my eye the patterns that it chose seemed to be a bit random. While in a different room, the Neato started talking although I didn't hear it all I did hear battery error. I went to check, even though it wasn't in use the battery icon was flashing red very quickly. Naturally I went through the information shipped and the app I had downloaded...no information on what was going on. I had to go online and look up that my brand new Vacuum used for less than 30 minutes has a faulty battery and needs to be serviced. I'm done!

I had the Neato D4 for almost two years before it died on me. That little robot was great until about two months before it died. I claimed the warranty and decided to get the D9 since it isnt the new entry model but also not the hieghest end. Ive had it for a few weeks now and i can honestly say it is really bad. The first day i couldnt get it to map my house. I ran it 6 different times and made sure it didnt get stuck on anything and never stopped and started. I had everything except furniture picked up to give it the easiest time to map and it just refused to save them. I contacted Neato and they were extremely helpful and nice, but unfortunately none of their suggestions worked. I ended up having to delete the vacuum from the app and readd it and then had it run again and finally it saved the floor plan. After that scheduled it to run every day because I have a golden retriever and two cats and all of them shed like crazy. My D4 was a trooper. It rarely got stuck on anything. Sometimes I'd come home and a pair of my jeans would be wrapped around the brush but that didnt stop the vacuum from completing its run. The D9 however gets stuck on literally everything and sometimes gets stuck on literally nothing. If a piece of hair is too long it says its brush is stuck. If it transitions from my carpet to hardwood it says its on uneven ground and just stops. If it runs over a small dog bone, something that the D4 just ran over and kept going like nothing happened, it acts like a beached whale and refuses to move until you pick it up off the bone and move the bone. Then theres the app. I love the addition of cleaning areas. I can tell the vacuum to clean just the living room or just the kitchen. However, you can only make rectangle zones, unlike the old app where you could make no go lines so if you had a weird shaped couch the vacuum might get stuck under you could map it out with a bunch of lines. Or if you had rooms the vacuum shouldnt enter you just had to put a line there. Now its rectangles so you have to make and resize a bunch of rectangles to try and fit what you need, but you cant rotate them so if you need it on an angle then you're stuck just making a crap ton of no go zones to match it perfectly or risk your vacuum finding a tiny hole in you floor plan no go zones where it'll get stuck. And thats if it even listens to the nogo zones. Twice now my D9 has started its daily scheduled cleaning and just ignored my no go zones and got stuck under my couch. Im going to give it another week but i think im going to return it and buy an iRobot Roomba or go back to a Samsung one. The suction power is still really good and picks up hair and dirt that even my $300 Shark upright vacuum doesnt get from my carpet.

I am about to get my 3rd replacement and I am beyond frustrated with the company beware. I ordered a new brush and it added $15 dollars shipping a 300% markup. I immediately went to cancel my order only told orders cannot be canceled and to contact back once shipped and I’ll get a full refund. Once it shipped i went to get a refund only to go be a partial refund. Now they refuse to refund the full amount. My issues with the d9 have been the vacuum keeps getting stuck my bathroom rugs something my d4 had no issues with. The next unit gets clogged. Anytime I empty the dust bin and run it again the unit will no longer fill up the dust bin. I have to take off the brush and clean the unit throughly before it will start capturing again. Otherwise it will get stuck at the brush and never fill up the dust bin. Again my d4 did not have any of these issues. It still also gets stuck on the bathroom rugs 90% of the time. Finally the d4 would integrate with SmartThings and this one it has a new app and it no longer works with SmartThings. This unit is not ready for prime time as newer units should work better and add more functionality and I regret my purchase.

I'm a little conflicted when it comes to this vaccuum. I had it in my apartment for less than a month before the wheel gave out and I had to return it. BUT it cleans pretty good and is quiet enough to run while my family members are still sleeping and that's a huge plus. It did really well with picking up my cat's hair and litter off of the carpeted floors. The app was easy to navigate as it lets you set up specific zones and where not to go. Over all before it broke, I really enjoyed it. I honestly will probably buy it again just because it is very convenient for busy people. Just clear the areas and let it run a section at a time.

does an excellent job as far as the cleaning of all surfaces in our home hardwood, ceramic tile, area rugs and even on the oriental carpets. It cleans edges very well. The only issue and its not a big one is the nogo zone feature it is ignoring it. I just remapped the entire house and installed all my clean zones and no go zones so I will update the review after next scheduled cleaning. it cleans roughly about 1750 sq ft in about 2 hrs15 minutes . happy with purchase and it does a great job with cat hair we only have one cat but living in Florida we wanted this just to keep up with the dust and cat hair. My research on these things prior to making this purchase was worth it and the customer service is excellent

The reviews were correct - the app isn't good. I had to remap my home about three times until I found a good spot for the charging base that wouldn't interfere with no-go zones (they can't be within 5 feet of each other, which is disadvantageous for smaller homes). Being restricted to squares/rectangles for zone placement is terrible, especially for no-go zones. I have an entertainment stand that’s oriented caddy corner that the vacuum got stuck under a few times, and for that reason, I needed to map it as a no-go zone. While a triangle would’ve been a better shape for this zone scenario, I was limited to placing several squares/rectangles to get as close to the shape of the area as possible. There were two instances when I mapped my home, and because of another caddy corner piece of furniture, my home was mapped diagonally. This made placing zones impossible because of the rigid square/rectangle shape. The device itself was great and is great for everyday cleaning. If you don’t need home mapping and just want it to clean, this would probably be a decent option. The software (in the app specifically) just isn’t up to par. I’m returning it and trying a different brand.

Let me preface this by saying that I had a Botvac connected prior to purchasing the D9. The Connected worked great for several years until a wheel motor died, after which it seemed like it was one thing after another that broke. We had a good enough experience to go with Neato again, and that's where our expections were set. After several months waiting for the new trio of Botvacs to finally release, we picked this one up on sale in December ($499.99). Suction is great, and pretty much everything else sucks in a bad way. The app looks nice, but it constantly bothers you with notifications about features that aren't new. You must use the app to start the robot, as it will ignore your power setting and floor plan if you start it with the 'Play' button on the robot. To my knowledge I have not gotten a single firmware update in 10 months, which might prove to me that developers are working on improvements. I went with the D9 because from launch it's been advertised as being able to handle "multiple floor plans" something that older Botvacs were also able to handle, and I have a two-story home. After a year of "coming soon" I'm done. They'll never deliver and I now can't return. The robot can't navigate to save it's life, half the time it slams into walls/furniture that it should be able to 'see' with it's lidar. It can't handle a specific transition to an area rug, but climbs a few pieces of furniture far enough to make it think it's been picked up. Instead of trying twice to navigate a trouble spot and moving on, it will get stuck (without request for help) until it dies and not complete the cleaning cycle. The button that tells the vacuum that the bin is removed doesn't pop up, so it never knows, not that there are 'empty bin' reminders anyway. Sometimes it will just sit stationary in the middle of a cleaning cycle with the vacuum running, not stuck for 5-10 minutes at a time, as if it forgot what it was doing. The side brush will decide after about 20 minutes that it doesn't need to spin anymore (on tile floors.) Sometimes a pause and restart will get it moving again, other times it won't. Bottom line, if the D9 did the exact same thing the older Botvacs did, I'd be happy with it, but it's a major step backwards, and obviously the support/development isn't there. Buy a cheap Eufy, or Roborock and get more features for less money than Neato.

Worked for about a year and a half, just outside of the warranty timeframe. For $500 I would've hoped to get longer out of it.

This is my second Neato vacuum. I loved the first one (a D7) but gave it to our daughter. The D9 vacuum is even better. It has significantly more battery power. The old vacuum had to go back to the charging base three times to finish the job. The new D9 didn't have to return to the base for recharging. It ran for a full 160 minutes which finished the job. That was a great surprise. The D9 is also quieter than the old version and seems to have better intelligence built in to navigate around chair legs and furniture. Dirt storage capacity has also increased slightly which minimizes the times the vacuum has to stop to have the dirt bin cleaned out. I also like the smaller charging base on the new model. Like most electronic devices these days, the app can sometimes be buggy as it seemed to lose connectivity with the device on our initial trial run, but it quickly resolved. An additional feature i like is the ability to do zone cleaning as some areas of the house need cleaning more than others. In short, this new model is a great improvement on an already great product.

If you’re looking for a little cleaning helper, look no further! Finding a robot vacuum that can actually clean isn’t the easiest. There are so many options that only kinda pickup stuff. This little guy really “sucks” and by that, I mean cleans as good as a small/light vacuum which is saying something! It is so well packaged, and setup is a breeze. The mapping ability was crazy cool for me, as I had an older model from a different brand that just drove around until the battery was almost dead, and then it looked for its home. This one will map and actually do zones/areas instead of driving around and going over areas it already did! I also love the shape of this thing, having the edge where the roller is, is the best for cleaning from what I can tell. I have few, if any, complaints with the D9. It's not too loud, it really seems to do quite well in actually cleaning, and the accessories are great/convenient. So far, it's able to clean a whole main floor (only a few rooms mind you) on a charge.

We've owned a few generations of Neato robot vacuums, but this one has been a downgrade in several key areas. It feels like they shipped this version without it being ready from a software and feature perspective. The manual references the 'extra gentle' navigation feature that was present on previous models, but this feature is not yet available. The navigation is sub-par, with each and every cleaning creating a new map and not recognizing where boundaries had been previously set. And this model no longer works with the magnetic strips as a fallback to prevent entry into areas you don't want the vacuum to enter, so we've had to resort to using physical objects to block the D9. All in all, a big letdown from Neato with this line of robots. Hopefully it will get better over time with software updates, but it should have never been released in this state.
