I can’t believe there are two similar reviews on here but I too had a D7 that was an amazing machine. It had some issues and so we replaced it with the D10. It lacks intelligence, gets stranded at least twice as much, and constantly is telling you about sensor errors and difficulty navigating its environment. I was such a Neato fan until this model. Now I wish I could trade it for something else.

I have the two previous models of this vacuum, and while they have issues, they are still superior to the D10. The D10 is difficult to use on the first day. For example, the height is causing problems such as getting stuck under furniture, high rugs, and other issues. These issues never occurred with my prior two Neato vacuums. As much as I prefer new technology and upgrading, I am unable to do so and have returned it.

I don’t know too many people who like housework. If they could come up with a “smart house cleaner” solution, it would probably stay sold out. Well smart vacuums have been here for a while now, and they tend to be pretty useful if you utilize them properly. Enter the neato intelligent robot vacuum. Cool name, but does it live up to that name? First thing I noticed unboxing the neato is the quality of the packaging. Boxes mean something to me for a few reasons, but most importantly it tells me if my product was well protected during shipping. The neato team should get 5 stars for product packaging. They care about their own product. They also care about the customer – impression made, feeling of comfort that the product is protected, and storage possibilities if needed. Kudos to them. Pull the unit out and it is attractive, but simplistic. I like the design simply because it isn’t complicated. The handle opening on top just screams dirt compartment, and there are only a couple of buttons on the unit. Plug up the base and slide the vac onto the contacts and start charging. Download the MyNeato app next to sync with the unit and update firmware. The app was one of the problem areas for me. It had trouble connecting, taking 3 tries, and after updating the firmware, the app hung prior to completion and confirmation. This was probably the biggest weakness of the D10, in my opinion. Add to that buggy functionality at times and some unresponsive moments… It needs work. With that said, the D10 is an intelligent piece of equipment, and proves to be so once you start using it. It maps and vacuums designated areas and offers quite a bit of flexibility in doing so. Once the D10 maps an area, you can designate prohibited zones using the app. This is a very good feature, but you have to be smart in defining prohibited (No-Go) areas. On occasion, the D10 can miss areas depending on the defined zones. This feature needs a little polish, but I will say neato is headed in the right direction. As smart as it is, we still need it to perform a basic function – vacuum the floor. This is a strong point for the D10. It is quite powerful and performs well on floors and carpets. Would be nice if it had a larger dirt receptacle, seeing it is built to run for up to 6 hours. The brush is very effective but flexible at the same time. It is gentle enough for hardwoods and engineered floors, but gets it done on carpet. I like having 3 power levels as well. Max mode really cleans well, but you get much less run time and quite a bit of noise. I think most jobs can be handled using the 2 lower power modes – eco can handle most hardwoods (quiet) and turbo for carpets, depending on shag height. Once you get the D10 set up, it is a great tool for helping keep floors clean. It does an adequate job cleaning, maps the room, and offers prohibited areas. The app is buggy and needs work, but this can be corrected via software updates. When this happens, this is easily a 5 star product.

WOW! This is a nifty, sleek cleaning machine that blew me away! I was excited to test out this robot vacuum and I was not disappointed. Set up was extremely easy. All I had to do was unpack the box. Plug the base into the wall and set the unit against it. (Do remove the protective plastic tape first from the vacuum.) Set up is done with the Neato app that you have to download from the App Store on your mobile device. That process was the most difficult part of the whole process. Once the app is downloaded and you register, you will click add Neato and it automatically detected the device. The rest was a cake walk. After charging for a couple of hours it just went on a trip around the house and vacuumed. We have a 3 bedroom, 1700 square foot house and it vacuumed the entire thing. When the battery gets low or it finishes its run it returns to its home base. Did have to empty it pretty often the first time but that is my fault not the vacuums. It got through the whole house after the first time. Love that it can run on an automatic program that you set in the app. You can also run it whenever you want via the app's remote function. Very good vacuum. It was suprisingly quiet as it ran through the house. It learns where walls and other obstacles are and goes around them. Was able to function on both carpet and hardwood floor. We don't have steps in our house. Not sure how you would handle keep it from tumbling down them.

Its a Neato Robot vac for your home baby

This robot vac works well for me in-between cleanings with my full size vacuum. I have about 2100sq/ft on the first floor that is mostly hardwoods with some decorative rugs. It is able to complete cleaning the entire first floor on a single charge which is great and what I was hoping for in terms of battery performance. The only thing I have noticed in terms of vacuuming performance is that the squared off shape at the front of this robot doesn't get around some of the tight areas quite as well as my previous robot vac that was a traditional round shape. The D10 has a much larger broom/sweeper as well as dirt bin thanks to this design difference and overall does a better job of cleaning than the robot it replaced. No mopping feature is a little bit of a let down, but I'll survive. The Neato app was easy to get connected with the D10. Once your robot has successfully vacuumed the first time and generated a map you can then set-up zones and perform spot cleaning instead of being forced to have it vacuum the entire area every time. Replacement parts like HEPA filters seem to be readily available and affordable, and there is a pet specific brush you can purchase separately as well for this unit. Overall a solid robot vacuum for those with medium to larger size homes or those with pets.

Not a bad device, but it has limited uses for me. I can program the robot for multiple rooms, but with stairs and other obstacles in our house I have to actually manually move it to clean different rooms. I also have a lot of kids so there is always something on the floor like toys, wires, clothes or something else that causes the vacuum to not actually be able to just run on a schedule. I was hoping that it would just avoid them and maybe not clean the room great, but the next schedule would make up for it once those things moved. The Neato does avoid some of the things, but too many things get sucked up into it and stuck or jammed. Unfortunately, I can’t trust that it won’t break something or get broken by something so I can only let it run in a room that is completely cleaned up. Once a room is cleaned up the Neato does a good job of picking up dirt and dust on both carpet and hardwood. It does a good job of getting into corners and doesn’t seem to take nearly as long as another robots I’ve tried. Overall the Neato works well in optimal situations, but my home is so far from optimal that its actually easier or more convenient just to use a normal vacuum.

    Second chance review. Marginally better...barely.

So I previously tried out the D10 almost a year ago and ended up with very poor results. But, I really like Neato as a company and assumed that over the time that I last tried the D10, the robot would be improved and the software ironed out.....well as the title says, just marginally better. Im really shocked with the D10. It's Neato's top-of-the-line, premium, latest tech model yet the older D7 can navigate rings around it. Im concerned Neato has resorted to using cheaper components, thanks to the supply chain issues or that their software engineers all quit and kids right out of school are now programming/engineering. The issues I had from the first review were that the unit poorly mapped out my home, was missing key features found on previous models and that it couldn't remember the No-Go zones I had set up. Well, it now does remember the No-Go zones, but that about it for improvements. I've run the unit 7 to 8 times and the map it has generated is still just as skewed and irregular as before. Plus, after all this time, Neato STILL HASN'T implemented the "Easy Care" and "Spot Cleaning" functions I used regularly with my D7. It's beyond frustrating that these are still missing. A good example is that D10 strangely doesn't clean part of one of my rooms ( an issue all on its own) and if I had the spot cleaning function, I could at least send it to clean that area. Nope. Out of luck. On top of that, the new MyNeato app is a mess. I had to create a new email account because I had closed my existing email account after I tried the D10 the first time. So apparently, if you close your account, it's permanent...ummm ok. And now, I can't verify the new account because of email errors trying to verify it...Im still in talks with a Neato rep on how to fix this. As I mentioned earlier, the app leaves out those functions I relied on especially the Easy Care feature. It kept the vacuum from bumping harshly into objects, which is a must as far as I'm concerned. I wish they had just used the previous Neato app and called it a day. The new MyNeato app is far less useful or user friendly...I'm not sure what Neato was thinking. The D10 still does have some very positive attributes that helped persuade me to try it again. I absolutely love the extended battery. It lasts forever. Seriously, it's very impressive. It also has the more powerful "Max" suction setting, which is exclusive to the D10. The suction is amazing and I can definitely tell it cleans much longer and deeper than my other robot vacuum by another manufacturer. The D7 is also nice to look at. It has a sleek and low profile, which allows it to get under a lot of my furniture. It uses a new HEPA filter which keeps more dust inside the unit and not spread back all over my home. They also have slightly improved the navigation around objects. The D10 still bumps into things but maybe not as frequently as it did the first time. With that said, it's no where close to the nimbleness and smarts of the D7. Overall, Im still disappointed with the D10. The unit and app still feel very unfinished and I suppose it's due to the fact that I was spoiled by my D7. I have hope that Neato will keep improving the D10 but I'm also concerned that they will just move on to a new model versus perfecting the current one. I guess time will tell if this is my last Neato.

    Good Vacuum but Lacks Consistency

Bottom line: The Neato D10 does a good job at vacuuming and transitioning across different floor types. It does an average job at avoiding furniture and mapping out rooms but the process to get those maps completed can be frustrating and time consuming. For a top tier robotic vacuum with AI the issues with the mobile app and the vacuum’s overall cleaning areas consistently on the map is disappointing. On a plus side the issues that I have encountered seem to be software/app related and hopefully Neato will get those fixed in upcoming releases but until then I am hesitant to recommend this vacuum. I have had the Neato D10 vacuum for several days now and after ten plus attempts of mapping my second story it is yet to map it out completely. Because my prior robot was a bump and run version I had physical barriers set up under all the furniture to keep it from getting stuck. Even with all the barriers the D10 would get lost or stuck numerous times and for reasons unknown it would just stop and idle in the same spot without moving. The app would give no indication of a problem and there were no error indications on the robot. Usually I would pick up the vacuum and carry it to the base station where it would say it was cancelling the cleaning run. When it actually completes a cleaning run and returns to the base station its ability to actually docks itself so far has not been good. I like the vacuum because it does a great job vacuuming but the inconsistency in its ability to complete a full sweep of the area is disheartening. I have the My Neato app on my iphone and it has a lot of features but for a top tier vacuum I would expect both the app and the vacuum to be more refined. Setting up the vacuum was straight forward and I was able to get it connected via the app to my iphone and home network without issue. In the beginning this vacuum bumped into everything but as it learned the room maps it slowly got better at avoiding things. In the app there is a History that shows all the attempted cleaning runs as well as a Map tab which is supposed to show the maps from the cleaning runs. One of the major issues is that the only way a map is included in the Map tab is if the vacuum completes a full cleaning job which includes docking! Since mine struggles to dock I cannot select a more accurate map and without an accurate map setting up zones or don’t go areas is a waste of time. But even with the mapping issues it does hit things less than my old vacuum did. I have one stairwell and so far the D10 has been good at recognizing it and avoids getting too close to it. I also have rugs on tiled floors and the D10 is good at transitioning over the rug lip without getting caught in it. In the bathroom we have a shower mat on top of carpeting and again the D10 has no problem transitioning from the carpet onto the shower mat and back off the mat without moving or hurting the mat. The D10 has an enormous dust bin which is fairly easy to empty. The vacuum brush is quite large and I am convinced that in Turbo mode it does a great job on the carpeting. The sound this vacuum makes is slightly louder than my other robot vacuums but that’s a given since I know its suction is much better. The other plus with this vacuum is its battery life, this vacuum runs a very long time without having to be recharged.
