Quality large-volume air purifier from Shark
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shark Air Purifier (6 Fan) I’ve had this air purifier for about a month and so far, so good. There’s kind or a lot to cover so I’ll break it down into sections: Controls: The control selection is fairly straightforward and user-friendly. I typically set the machine to the “auto” setting and let it do its thing. You can use the touch controls on top of the unit or the remote control. Sadly, Shark did not make this unit smart capable so no Wi-Fi or app connections. Not a big deal for me, but for some that might be a deal breaker. The remote will access all of the same controls as the main panel, except for the remaining filter life. The remote has: auto setting, manual fan speed setting, sleep timer, time remaining until air is clean, current air particle estimates, and 3 brightness settings – bright, dim, & off (although the I/O power indicator on the top panel remains lit any time the unit is plugged in.) The air purity, time remaining until clean, and particle estimates can all be seen from the front-facing display; it also color codes the current air purity as red (poor) yellow (fair) & blue (clean) so you can tell purity from across the room with just a glance. There is not a printed user manual, instead Shark provides a QR code on the top panel which will bring up an electronic version as well as a user video. If that QR code isn’t available, I’m sure you can get that info from the Shark website or just watch the video on YouTube. But really… it’s an air purifier, not a spaceship – you’ll figure it out. Noise levels: Of the 3 fan settings, even the highest (max) setting is not even as loud as the typical box fan. You can expect to hear your TV or normal conversation over the sound of the unit at its highest setting. Even in the age of Zoom meetings and remote learning, I doubt the noise will be a great distraction but if so, you can manually set the fan speed or power the unit off. The medium and low settings are very tolerable with low being rather quiet – comparable with a refrigerator running. However, at any fan speed, there is some level of audible noise so if you are looking for a totally silent purifier, this might not be the best option. Performance & filtration: Although Shark does not advertise any actual numbers regarding volumetric capacity, I would guess this unit can handle a space up to 1,200 square feet. Obviously, the bigger the space and the more pollutants, the longer purification will take and the shorter lifespan you may expect from a filter. For larger homes, running a unit on each level may achieve the best results. I use the unit in a studio apartment (formerly a master bedroom) which measures to about 260 square feet. - I chose the larger 6 fan vs 4 fan unit for when I do buy a home and need to handle a larger space - The auto setting is a nice ‘set it & forget it’ option and will adjust fan speed according to air quality – so if you hear it randomly getting louder or quieter in auto mode, that’s normal. I have a particular sensitivity to dust which is a year-round problem and I have noticed a reduction in the number of times I sneeze (as they say, ‘the nose knows’). My sinuses have always been an issue and I don’t expect this machine to cure all of my ails, but it’s a big step in the right direction. Seasonal pollen and other allergens are in full force at the moment and I am seeing some relief from those as well. I live with roommates who like to cook but might not be very good at it since the odor of burned food saturates the house at least 1-2 times a week. This purifier, even with the factory filter, handles food odors pretty quickly. Apparently Shark also offers an odor control filter which I’m betting would do a little better job. I live in the southwest US so I cannot speak how well this handles mold or the odors it causes or other allergens not common to this region. I do not own any pets so I cannot speak to the level of dander control, but with a true HEPA filter, I would imagine it’s pretty good. The display on top will provide an estimate of remaining filter life with a new filter providing 4,400 hours (183 days) of nonstop operation. I prefer to power the unit off when it has maintained 98-100% air purity for an hour or more, or if I plan to be away from home to save energy and filter life. Shark states the unit can perform 6-12 months between filter changes. From the cursory research I have done, a true high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter performs at a higher rate of purification (99.97%) than a minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV) 16 filter (>95%). It does not contain a UV light and will therefore lack 100% sanitation capability such as might be found in surgical settings. In the age of covid-19, I can understand why many people would be concerned about the ability of a unit to mitigate the spread of airborne viruses and contaminants. An air purifier is certainly a good tool in the fight, but it will not fix all virus-related problems in the world. Construction: The unit has a glossy plastic exterior with lifting handles on the LH & RH top corners. It is not terribly heavy (I’m guessing 35 lbs/16 kgs) and it stands about 32”/ 81cm tall. The air intake is on the rear-facing panel with two filter release latches at the top. The air output vents, which run the full height of the unit, are on the narrow ends. It has a 2-prong polarized plug that fits a standard 110v wall outlet. I would estimate the power cord to be 66 inches / 168cm long. *Safety sidenote: Being tall as this unit is, it may pose a tipping hazard to curious children or rambunctious pets; placing the unit in an area where foot traffic is light is advisable. Pros: Energy efficient, compact footprint for the amount of airflow it produces, automatic purification, tolerable noise levels, user-friendly controls, adjustable light output, color-coded air purity indicator, rapid odor mitigation, & remote control. Cons: Expensive proprietary filters available exclusively through Shark (as of this review, summer 2021), no smartphone app or Wi-Fi compatibility, limited choice of colors (grey or white), lacks ultraviolet (UV) light purification. Summary: Overall, this unit should fit the bill for most people seeking cleaner air in medium to large residential spaces. It performs as I expected with even better odor mitigation than I originally thought. At the end of the day, it’s a big plastic box with six fans and an expensive filter inside that is designed to clean up the indoor air of your home or living space – nothing more, nothing less. I am satisfied with this unit, I would recommend it, and just as with the other Shark appliances I use, I look forward to years of faithful service keeping my indoor air clean!

Real quiet
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have pets and I am slightly allergic, so we got the purifier. We tested the air pollution settings by a window in the kitchen and noticed it reacted very quickly whenever we cook or have the windows open. It displays air pollutant information along with how many ppm of various sizes, like smoke, bacteria, etc. Operation is extremely easy. Just plug it in, set it to auto, and it will change speeds as necessary. I have definitely noticed it helps a lot with my indoor and seasonal allergies. I wish it were cheaper, but it covers a significant amount of square footage, is quiet, and the slim profile is appreciated.

Air Purifier Fights Allergens & Enhances Comfort
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.INTRODUCTION The Shark - Air Purifier 6 with Advanced Odor Lock and Fumes Lock is a machine that exceeds expectations & is a most welcome addition to our home. It measures 32" High X 17" Wide X 9" Deep. I chose it to fight Allergens because of it's Multi-Filters. It delivered that & so much more than I anticipated! Featuring 6) high output fans that expel air out the sides while intaking air through the HEPA rear-mounted filter, it is clearly designed for a large room. Shark recommends it for a room up to 230 square feet. Touch the large round button on the remote, or the touch sensitive panel to start the Shark. It sniffs out the air, determines the level of impurities & displays this on a large easy-to-read number on the front panel. The unit begins in Auto mode, where the fans start up on the 1st of 4 speeds. As the built-in Clean Sense IQ detects Allergens & other air impurities, greater air purification is required. The fans automatically accelerate up to the appropriate speed. THEATRICAL AIR CIRCULATION I was "Blown Away" by how much more comfortable a large room feels with this Air Purifier in operation. I placed it within the specified 3" from a side wall in our 17' X 30' Home Theatre (510 Square Feet). The Theatre is in the basement, so the temperature is steady but air seldom moves, unless the HVAC is heating or cooling the house. The 6) fans are so powerful, it circulates air & adds a very comfortable feel to the room, augmented by the moving air flow. For maximum circulation, choose Fan Speed #4 from the remote. The remote has a long range & reaches the Tower 30 feet away, on the other side of the room. However, Fan Speed #4 moves so much air, that the sound of moving air can interfere with a movie or concert in the Theatre, unless that program material is loud. So I choose Fan Speed #2 or #3 & the results are ideal. All fan speeds are incredibly quiet, considering the CFM (Cubic Feet / Minute) that it outputs. The large Air Quality Display circled by a ring that changes color, based on Air Quality, is adjustable from the remote from Full Brightness, to Dim, to Dark (Off). This is perfect for a dark bedroom or theatre, as the bright light could otherwise prove a distraction. See attached photos. Click on the Air Info button for details about pollutants in the air. CONCLUSION The Shark Air Purifier 6 is the highest quality Air Purifier I have experienced. Yet it achieves so much more than simply clean the air. It actually makes the room feel more comfortable by circulating the air, because of the 6) high power fans. I highly recommend this premium quality product!

Beast of a purie
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Outstanding air purifier, capable of automatic fan speed depending on air quality, with multi stage filtering. Plugged it in and it struggled a bit for the first day or so to filter out all the latent dust in the environment, but now runs quietly by itself all day. Worth the money. If you're gonna drop the dollars to get better air quality, you really ought to get one with a large enough area of effect. Immediately noticed the difference, stopped waking up with boogs plastered in both nostrils. Controls odors and otherwise stale air.

The purifier to acquire!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you truly care, about clean air Get an air purifier, and expect your wellbeing to be higher I may not be much of a poet, but I do appreciate good air quality. As someone with seasonal allergies, summers can be tough for me. The air conditioner in the house does filter the air somewhat, but not enough. That’s what made me interested in the Shark Air Purifier 6. My first floor is mostly one room, so I chose the AP 6 over the AP 4. I wasn’t sure how large it would be, so when it came in, the box was bigger than I expected. The device is pretty tall at 32 inches, and takes up 17” X 9” on the floor. That’s not too bad when you put it at the recommended 3 - 4 inches away from a wall. It also means that you can read the top display if you sit right next to it, which has lots of information about pollutants if you click the Air Info button. You can change between three fan speeds, and set a timer between 1 and 12 hours. There is a 0 setting also, but it doesn’t seem to do anything, unless it’s an “oops, I didn’t mean to hit that” button. The settings can also be changed with the included remote control. Another thing you can do, is set the brightness. I didn’t think about this until I moved it next to my bed and I found out it was too bright on the default setting. That’s when I discovered that there are three settings: 100%, 50% and 0%. I thought 50% was perfect for when the lights are out, but you can always turn it off at night. It’s just a click or two, either on the device or the remote. I’ve only had the Air Purifier 6 for a week, but I’ve tested it both in the kitchen and next to my bed. I wanted to see where it made the most difference. The kitchen has to deal with typical kitchen smells, while the bed makes me sneeze on occasion. When it was in the kitchen, I noticed less food-related odors, but it was more interesting by the bed, because I actually woke up the next day feeling like the air was cleaner, and that I was more rested, which was amazing. The fan isn’t loud enough on Auto that it keeps me up, so I’ll probably keep it by the bed. When it’s on Auto in my house, the device stays on the lowest fan speed. If you change it manually to 2 or 3, you can hear it more, but I can only imagine that you would use those settings temporarily, and not when you’re trying to sleep. By comparison, the air conditioner is much noisier and obnoxious in this house. This of course depends on the typical air quality in your home. I don’t know how long it will take before the filter needs to be changed, but I will mention that when you receive the unit, you have to remove a plastic around the filter. This will also educate how to replace the filter, which is very easy. Just open the back, take out the old one, put the new one in. The manual mentions that it should last 6 - 12 months, but I’ve only had it a week, so it’s too early to say. Hopefully, this air purifier lasts a long time, because if it makes me sleep better, it’s worth every dollar. One last thing: The unit looks black in person, but in the photos, it appears to be more charcoal gray, which is the official color.

Goodness gracious
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bacon smell who??? This purifier does wonders! Gets rid of food odors in an instant! I absolutely love the auto programming, gives you a percentage of your air cleanliness within reach of the machine. Crazy how quiet this thing can be knowing it has six fans running through. It’s light for its size and can fit comfortable in corners. It’s allergy season right now and this thing has certainly helped with my sneezing, because let me tell you before this I would sneeze up a storm in my home, but now it’s like I don’t even have to take allergy pills anymore! Please continue making these magical machines that help with seasonal allergies and smells within the home. Thank you Shark!

Quiet Air Quality with Six
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can't help to like the air quality that the 'Air Purifer 6' brought to room. The addition of a elderly dog it was necessary to look for a purifier that would not only clean the dust particles and cooking orders but would capture these as well as the 'old dog'. It provides odor protection that was needed in a quiet manner that can automatically adjusts to the rooms environment. Easy setup...easy remote...charcoal gray unit easily fits into room's setting.

decent
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The purpose was to resolve the bad odor emitting from my fireplace whenever the stained cedar beam gets hot when the fireplace is in use. It works well but cannot be used in a large living room singularly. In addition, it will cleanse even when I don't smell anything. Good for cleansing air when frying food in the kitchen. However, if you use the heater or candles, it will also activate which I think is a waste of the filter life.

So much worth it !
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this product ! We have this problem of not being able to fry when it’s winter because the kitchen and surrounding rooms get the fried odor, worst when we fry fish. We can’t open windows much because of the cold and our stove overhead air suction literally sucks ! This is our savior and it is such a great product to have in the house. It also makes you breathe better because the air feels clean and pure.

It works!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was surprised that my air quality was oretty good already, i have snake plants in each room. I leave the air purifier on auto. When i cook, or open my windows the auto kicks the fans to a higher speed automatically to filter the air. When i use my humidifier, the air quality goes down also. I am going to clean it well and try RO to see if the humifier is causing yucky air quality.

Above and beyond expectation purifier.
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sleek design allows me to adjust the location of the purifier. I have had the product in my home for a year and half now, and I believe this purifier has made an extreme difference. This device runs continually in my home and the filter life has been more than surprising. I know future air purifer models are migrating to a filter free environment, this filter has been easy to clean and maintain likely beyond it's expected life span. I'm in my early 50s and I never imagined what a purifier can do to help keep my home smelling clean.

Great product. No buyers remorse!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is absolutely terrific at what it does. The sensor IMMEDIATELY picks up smoke and turns on. My friends have all been impressed by the machine’s ability to clean the air of specific odors. It runs fairly quietly unless it senses smoke then it sounds like a large fan at full speed. It comes with a remote that works well (although I leave it on auto). No smart features but if you leave it on auto mode, it does a fantastic job of sensing the level of purification needed and adjusting the fans accordingly. It’s not small, at all. But it is built fairly sturdy and can take a good bump without having to worry about it falling on the baby or animal (or baby animal).

Surprisingly awesome
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once in a while you buy a product that suprises you. That is this. This thing quietly filters air in the background and you almost forget its there until you fire up the stove or start vacuuming the house then all the sudden you hear a rush of air and notice the onboard sensors have detected dirt or something in the air it didnt like. It shows you the air quiality on the face of the screen, which it works hard to get back to 100% then it calms down to a quiet tone. Super product. This thing gets rid of cooking smells in minutes.
