Great for homeschooling and household office

I purchased the Epson EcoTank ET-3850 printer to replace one that used ink very fast. A few years ago, I purchased a Canon for $20 on Black Friday at another store. That $20 printer cost me $50-60 in ink every 150 pages. So far with the Epson, I have printed about 100 pages with very little ink missing from the tanks. I like being able to see the ink in the tanks. I always wondered if the other ink cartridges actually contained much ink. I only use the printer for homeschooling and household office printing. The printer is perfect for my purposes. It is very fast compared to my old printer and also pretty quiet compared to the other, though not as quiet as some others might like. I was able to print double sided with the top copy master feed. I liked this feature, but I am not able to double side print when sending documents from my computer. If there were a way to do this, I would love it. Maybe I just need to figure out how to use the printer, but this is not as important to me as might be to some. I just print out the documents single sided then use the copy feature to double side print. The printer makes it easy. So far, I have used cardstock as well as regular paper. I have no use for printing pictures out on picture paper. I think the printer uses less ink on the paper than my previous printer which is another advantage because the double sided copies consequently do not stick or get jammed. There have been no jams so far, so another plus for the machine. Set up was easy. The software updated automatically. The buttons on the front are easy to navigate even intuitively. I would have preferred a touch screen, but I chose a more budget friendly model. The buttons are not hard to use, though. Everything makes sense. The printer prints well using the app from my phone or my laptop and desktop computers. I have had no difficulties connecting to my computers. We use Apple phones and computers. I really like the printer. It fit my needs perfectly. Though it is pricier than the $20 one, the Epson EcoTank 3850 will more than make up for it in savings on the cost of ink.

This is my second Epson EcoTank purchased from Best Buy and I just love them (if you can love a printer...lol). I use one for normal printing and copy making, and the other I use for crafting. The set up is super easy and Epson walks you through it. I also like the smaller size of the printer as it saves space. The best thing is that the printer comes with a full charge of ink and saves you tons of money in not having to buy refill cartridges. If you are looking for a printer/copier/scanner for crafting, personal printing and copies, or for use in a small business, this is the one to buy!

I needed a compact all in one printer for my small apartment. I also wanted to get away from the huge expense of ink cartridges as I print a lot especially in color. I had never purchased an Epson printer before. My previous printer was a Brother which was fast and versatile but huge with costly ink cartridges. I love this Epson printer. It can fit on the same desk as my 27" iMac and I love the refillable ink which is easy to see when it needs to be refilled. The speed for printing isn't as fast as I am used to, but its acceptable. The only thing I would change would be that the home screen was a touch screen. Its not a touch screen - you have to use the arrow keys to use the menu which isn't as intuitive as I would like, but I can live with it. I believe the model above it has a touch screen but it also has a fax machine which I didn't need. The colors are great and I am very happy with my purchase.

The printer arrived on schedule. It was very easy to set up. Connected to Wifi without any issues. No need to first connect using a USB cable like some other printers. Connection from different devices such as Linux workstation, windows Virtual machine, iPhone worked on first try. Easy to download drivers from Epsom site. The ink bottles were pretty big and had the ink tanks are huge as compared to cartridges. I am glad to not have to deal with the scam of ink cartridges. I tried the normal printing, scanning, and auto 2-side printing and it works flawlessly. The printer is compact and takes less space than my old error prone HP OfficeJet printer. Looks pretty cool as well. It is on the pricy side, but savings on cartridges makes it worth it.

Nice printer, but setting it up was ridiculous. We had to hire Gerk Squad to come to the house to do it. Otherwise, Epson requires you to pay for their app so it does it. Sorry, it is not a one time charge, either. When we saw what the tech had to do to get it hooked up, there is no way we could have done it. It is nowhere as easy as our old Brother printer to use. It prints nicely, like the bottled ink, but it often goes offline or seems hard to find from our devices from time to time. The ink business and how these companies mess with us over ink is not right, except for them. Not the consumer. And the fact NO printers come with the fax option really is ridiculous when so many other companies want people to fax things.

This printer was easy to setup and use. Always had HP printers. Very satisfied with print and photo quality. I really like the multi scan document feature loaded 15 pages and all scanned into one file. I wish I would have bought this years ago. I love the ink tank feature. Allows extend idle time with instant start up. Works great with printing from mobile devices. Only downside is page catcher has to be manually extended if you forget your picking up all your pages from the floor

As a user who frequently needs to print documents and photos, I recently purchased the Epson EcoTank ET-3850 All-in-One Supertank Inkjet Printer. Here's my review of this printer. Firstly, the standout feature of the EcoTank ET-3850 is its supertank ink system. Unlike traditional inkjet printers that use ink cartridges, the ET-3850 utilizes built-in ink tanks capable of holding a large volume of ink. This means that I no longer have to frequently replace ink cartridges, reducing printing costs and unnecessary hassles. This is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective choice, particularly suitable for users who print frequently. Secondly, the print quality of the ET-3850 is satisfying. Whether it's documents, photos, or charts, the printed results are very clear and detailed. Color accuracy is also quite precise, making printed photos more vivid and lifelike. This is an important advantage for users who need to print high-quality documents and images. Another commendable feature is the versatility of the ET-3850. In addition to printing, it also includes scanning and copying functions, making it an ideal choice for both office and home use. The automatic duplex printing feature is also practical, helping save paper and time. All these functions are integrated into one device, allowing users to complete multiple tasks in one place. Furthermore, setting up and connecting the ET-3850 is very straightforward. It supports Wi-Fi connectivity, making wireless printing effortless. Through Epson's mobile app, I can directly print documents and photos from my smartphone or tablet without needing to connect to a computer. This convenience makes printing more flexible and convenient. However, it's worth noting that the ET-3850 comes with a relatively higher price tag. Despite its advantages of the supertank ink system and versatility, potential buyers should consider balancing its performance and budget. In conclusion, the Epson EcoTank ET-3850 All-in-One Supertank Inkjet Printer is a powerful and worthwhile product. Its supertank ink system, excellent print quality, and versatility make it an ideal choice for users who print frequently. Despite the higher price, considering its performance and convenience, I believe it's a valuable investment.

PROS: -Obviously more money up front, but the sheer amount of printing that you can do, quickly surpasses the cost of cartridges. Pretty much the second time you replace all the cartridges on a standard printer you would have spent far more. Even the cost of the refill bottles is low enough that there no temptation to purchase cheap alternatives. -Print quality is great, and even though this isn’t billed as a photo printer, it still does a pretty good job. Definitely great for casual photo printing. -Built in tray that holds A LOT of paper. -Print speed is fast for its price point. -First home printer I’ve had with a auto-document feeder, which makes scanning multiple documents very quick and easy. CONS: Initially set this up to connect to my home network wirelessly, but when the printer goes into low power mode, it disconnects from the network. Had to go wake the printer up manually, which gets old quickly. Especially if you’re printing from the other side of the house. This printer was in the exact same spot as my previous printer and I had no issues with that one. Fortunately I was able to connect a Ethernet cable to this printer and that pretty much solved everything (plus a direct connection spools print jobs so much quicker). Not convenient for those that need flexibility in where they need to place this. Overall very happy with printer. For those wondering the ET-3820, ET-3850, ET-4850 all share the exact same core components. The ET-3850 adds an auto-document feeder for the scanner (definitely worth it). Then the ET-4850 adds a modem for fax and a touch screen for operating the printer. My complaint on the ET-4850 is the touch screen is too small, they should of made it bigger.

This printer is awesome! We used to have an HP printer and would have to wait for those printer cartridges to arrive, but not anymore. The liquid ink fill works seamlessly and we have printed around 100 pages text and colored pages as well as photos and weve just made it a quarter (1/4) into our ink usage. The printer is relatively quite ans very vast in comparison to our HP that was a purchased at a similar price. Not going back to HP. Ever. And we got it at a great price from Best Buy.

I have been using HP printers for over 15 years and I just got tired of buying ink cartridges from HP and all of the aftermarket gyrations I had to do to try and save money. After my third home office printer (8600 Pro) I decided to look at other options. I had seen many of the Shaq commercials for the Epson Eco Tank printers. After two months of looking at many companies versions of the big tank printers, reading many reviews, watching a bunch of comparison YouTube vids, this printer was spot on for my needs, longevity of the device over others and pricing of replacement ink. If you think about it, $400-$500 is what a printer should cost with replacement ink being $40 for all colors. With the possibility of getting 1.5 to 2 years out of the ink packaged with the printer, the cost of ownership is much lesser than any inkjet printer. Yes, the unit is very small, the plastics seem a little thin, the non touch screen (use the buttons on the side) are not as tech as others, what I expect to save and still get good black and white and color prints for almost noting per print. No expensive cartridges anymore. Just print. Easy setup for my network, yes, the filling of the ink took some time but once every two years…cake. Very happy with this printer and all its functions. I would do it all over again if I had to.

Love the printer. I had a HP that was costing me a fortune on ink replacement because my wife is in nursing school and she need to print a lot of copy. So after about a Month of research I decided to go with the Epson Eco Thank ET-3850. Set up was a breeze with the App. My family really love this printer. For now Its working great. I read a comment about how this printer make a lot of noise when printing. That is true straight out of the box, but you can fix that problem by going through the setting on the printer not the App. There is a setting that you can turn on to make the printer print quiet.

Great all in one home office printer. Compact. Doesnt take up much space. Print speed for an ink jet is fairly good. Color takes more time. Print quality could be better and scanner function is a bit confusing...as you apparently have to download as an extra function. Havent quite figured that out yet. But overall, it does what I need it to do, and I really like the fact that I do not have to replace ink cartridges!

Wonderful investment & cheaper in the end Bought this Printer after my cannon went out after about 7 years. Bought another Canon but had issues with the scanner. I then bought this Epson printer after multiple reviews & looking it up across the net I landed on this one. Easy to operate and always ready to print with no issues. Print from my computer directly or over my home network including my Iphone. Easy on the ink & fast at printing once its up and ready. First print may take a minute to get started but if its in ready mode & not sleeping it will printer right away.

I came into best buy looking for a printer. I have always purchased inkject printer I love to print photos at home. I think I was there about 45 minutes deciding which one would benefit me the most. I finally grabbed the Epson Ecotank 3850 and I love it . It prints so well and the ink last alot longer. It was hard to decide to switch over when your so use to a certain type of printer. I am so happy I went with this printer. I can do so much with it. I would definitely upgrade in the future with the same brand.

I've been happy with Epson printers (& scanners) for a long time, and this printer may be the best I've owned to date. The big advantage of this printer is the cost-affordability of ink. The printer uses bottles of ink rather than cartridges and though I'm nowhere near using up my first set of bottled inks, the bottles are much less expensive than the cartridges on my prior Epson printer. I'm very pleased with this device and Epson's decision to go the Eco-Tank route. My only concern with this particular model is that it doesn't have a hard-wired USB connection to my computer. It's Wi-Fi only. One time the printer lost connectivity, but that may not have been due to this device but rather my home WiFi setup. It wasn't an issue to re-establish connectivity and the connection's been stable ever since. Yes, I'd definitely buy this again, but my prior experience with Epson printers and scanners has been that I'll be using this model functioning well for several years to come.

Had this printer for a little over a month. Has been doing a fantastic job on a wide variety of projects for home and charity use. The ink seems to last forever which is great and the cost of replace ink seems to be fairly inexpensive, but I have not purchased any yet. The fill/refill process is very simple and connections to WiFi and computers etc is seamless.

Nice printer. The top scanner feeder gives a little trouble sometimes depending on the paper, but the printing is fine. Like the amount of ink it has with the tanks. Don't like the app for it compared to the HP Smart app. They need to do an overhaul. You can't look at multiple places when printing, you have to scroll through and look at one at a time and select. That's a pain. Good thing about it is, it had a small footprint on the desk.
