It's a beast, a clear class up from Ryzen omen 15

Got this laptop to upgrade from my 2021 omen 15 with a ryzen 7 5800h 3070 and 3070. On paper these should be similar but the thermals and overall performance of the omen 17 is like night and day. This computer is a beast and runs like one no matter what I throw at it. It's performance is comparable to my Ryzen 7 though faster overall and in games significantly cooler to the temps of 60-73c typically. I like the backlights on the keyboard very bright and customizable. Screen is not quite as vibrant as the qhd on the omen 15 was but it does support variable refresh rate on this one and after a little time calibrating the colors I got it to be pretty close. The weight is present but because of how it's distributed it's very portable. The charge brick is a monster but you can use the 200 watt charger no problem with it as long as you don't do anything graphically intensive so general use. And that helps a ton if traveling for class or other uses.

If your primary need is power and performance... look no further! No, seriously... just buy this and if it's not in stock, wait for it to restock. I waited around 2 weeks to get my hand on this one because it had everything I wanted/needed at an unbeatable price point. The features I love most and the reason I purchased this: (3D Mark Timespy results screenshot attached.) 140 WATT FULL POWER GPU (I originally purchased the Omen 15 and returned it. While G-sync is nice to have, a 140watt 3070 beats the hell out of a 100watt 3070. No comparison. BEST thermals I have EVER seen on a notebook. Running New World (brand new MMORPG) on very high graphics settings, my GPU and CPU both stay around 70-75degrees max at full load. I even let Geforce apply a small 75 Mhz overclock because of all the thermal headroom. MUX Switch (A must for people using a laptop without external displays. This switch allows you to switch to discrete GPU rather than running graphics through the CPU which bottlenecks your performance) 11th gen intel CPU. (The competition Alienware is like $800 more and has a 10th gen.) Omen Game Hub provides a smart tool for automatic undervolt. This can be particularly helpful for less experienced users. Undervolting reduces the heat generated by the CPU. Prevents throttling. Looks very professional so you don't look dumb with it out in public. 6 programmable macro keys on the keyboard. RAM is fully upgradeable. I upgraded mine to 32 gigs. (You don't have to. The stock ram is good, I just wanted to lol) Extra SSD slot with thermal shield. Screen is nice and bright. Keyboard looks gorgeous with Omen Light Studio. If you end up pulling the trigger on this one, you won't regret it! The power brick is 330watts if that tells you anything..

Absolutely fantastic. This laptop is as small as you can get for a 17 inch and does have a bit of weight to it. But, as its mostly tied to your desk...no big deal. Its quiet, fast and hands down the fasted and best built machine I've used, and I've used them all. No one holds a candle to this unit. GO HP.

This is honestly a steal for this price, something to keep in mind for the students that are taking this laptop into consideration. Its big, but not unmanageable, though the power brick is the size of a mac mini pc. It is close to impossible to find something with this much performance at this price point. The battery life with everything way down will last almosy five hours for those times that your in a library trying to type away a paper. The screen wobbles a little more then I would like, but it comes down to a simple thing that Ive learned with laptops this year. They all leave something on the table, but this laptop works and will do any demanding tasks that need to be done.

More liKe 4,5 stars but the but way overcomes the cons.Awesome thermals, awesome stability and power. Mux , Undervolt omen 17 got you covered. Great desktop replacement ,not so great portability specially with the massive power adapter . Also the real time memory speed is 2660 and not 3200 even with other memory , i tried.

I’ve tested this against the Alienware x17, which is an additional $600 before tax, and it’s much nice with a full trackpad that’s centered, along with much better cooling and performance.
