The Ninja Foodi has been amazing. We had been looking for an air fryer for a while but never settled on one we really wanted. Along came the Ninja Foodi. It is an extremely versatile kitchen accessory. It's an air fryer and pressure cooker in one. On top of this it can also steam, slow cook, sear/sautee, bake/roast and broil. You can cook anything in it that you want. From chicken nuggets for the kids to steak. It comes with two lids. The air crisp lid is attached which has a heating element and a fan for air frying. The second lid locks on (with the air crisp lid up) to become a pressure cooker. Out of the box I decided to do a trial run on the pressure cooker as the instructions suggest. Never using a pressure cooker before, I didn't know what to expect. You simply add a couple of cups of water and allow it to build pressure. Then you release the pressure. I will warn you that the release of steam is powerful. We have 9' ceilings in the kitchen and the steam was easily able to reach it. I feel like over time, if we always used it in the same place that this could damage the ceiling. I resorted to wearing an oven mitt and holding a magazine over the steam to redirect it outward. The pressure cooker allows you to get meals done a lot faster. For example, you can pressure cook chicken breasts and then convert to the air crisp and finish them off. The first thing that I made in the Ninja Foodi was tater tots for my kids. I preheated the Foodi and put the tots in the crisper basket. They were perfectly crisp on the outside and moist in the center. French fries always turn out perfect (it can hold about two pounds). You can buy optional accessories to expand what it can do even further. For example, you can get a baking pan to make a large cookie. The Ninja Foodi is quite large. It takes up a lot of real estate on the counter. With the crisper lid up in measures approximately 21" tall and you will have to leave this lid in the upright position to use the pressure cooker function. However, with that being said, it is worth every inch of space that it takes up. You will be using it constantly. I don't like to cook, and have never been very good at it. The Foodi has changed that. I'm always trying new things with it. The instructions are great and it has a lot of recipes to try. Everything from appetizers to desserts. There are many more recipes online. I highly recommend the Ninja Foodi. I wish that I had one years ago.

I had no idea how heavy the unit was going to be. I almost needed help getting it out of the boxes and placed on my kitchen counter. It was packaged very well and I sincerely appreciated the “cookbook” for this multi-faceted “pressure cooker” … which it is way more than just a pressure cooker. I also really liked and have come to rely on the “cheat sheet” which gives you a couple of food examples and the steps to follow with your Foodi unit. It also breaks down – by type of cooking preparation you’re going to do – all the specific pieces of the Foodi you’ll need. VERY HELPFUL! I have made a couple items but the best result I’ve had so far was with the whole roasted and “crisped” chicken. Amazing all the juice and moistness it had, besides the terrific flavor. And all of that after only 20 minutes of pressure cooking a 5 ½ lb bird and then 15 minutes crisping it. I was curious as to how the crisping was going to turn out, and it was extremely good. Now I have “no excuse” not to make dinner, when it takes roughly 30-35 minutes to cook a great chicken. I’m looking forward to making Wings this weekend … I have all the ingredients now. I’m impressed with the unit. It is extremely heavy and sturdy and should last for years! Very cleaver how you use different “lids” – one permanently attached (…for crisping…) and the other removable (…used for pressure cooking…) to achieve the different cooking results. It’s a big unit, so now I have to figure out where to store it when not in use. I’m glad I got the Foodi. I haven’t pressure cooked for decades but I’ll be doing a lot more frequently now. The cookbook has many delicious and easy recipes Thanks NINJA for another great product!

An all-around appliance worth its weight in gold

One of my biggest gripes is that most kitchen small appliances only have a single function and take up valuable real estate on my kitchen counter. For that reason, many of my appliances, such as my slow cooker and steamer, are located in the basement. For this reason, the Foodi TenderCrisp Pressure Cooker has become the small kitchen appliance of my dreams, because it combines multiple functions in one appliance. The Ninja Foodie is a pressure cooker, air fryer/crisper. With this, you can sear/sauté, steam, slow cook, pressure cook, air crisp, bake/roast and broil foods. The beauty of the cooker is that you can do everything in the same pan and it easily switches over from one cooking method to another. It has a 6.5-quart Cooking Pot and 4-quart Cook & Crisp™ Basket that can fit a 5-lb chicken and 2 lbs of french fries. The pan and basket are nonstick, dishwasher-safe accessories. (I have the Foodi model 301, which does not have the dehydrator capability.) Unpacking the item from the box was like opening a present on my birthday or Christmas. There was so much there. It was safely packaged and there were some nice surprises: a reversible rack, the Getting to know your Foodi resource with cooking cheat sheet, and a recipe book with 45 easy-to-follow recipes. I was able to immediately use the Foodi to make the creamy tomato soup in the recipe book (delicious, but use less salt) after following the steps to pressure cook 3 cups of water to practice with pressure. It didn’t take me long to figure out how to switch lid use, and I then proceeded to cook the St. Louis ribs and French fries. Today I made the featured herb-roasted chicken recipe. The result was as good as, if not better than, a rotisserie chicken you buy in the store. The meat was juicier and the chicken didn’t shrink up as much as when it sits in a heated environment all day. Some helpful tips to keep in mind: *Convert oven recipes by using the Bake/Roast function and reducing the cooking temperature by 25°F. *For recipes traditionally cooked in a slow cooker for 8 hours on Low or 4 hours on High, try cooking them on HI pressure in your Foodi™ for 25–30 minutes with at least 1 cup of liquid. *Using the Sear/Sauté function is just like using your stovetop. Use LO for simmering, MED for sautéing, and HI for boiling or searing meats. *When searing meats, leave them out at room temperature for 20–30 minutes, and pat dry before searing for best results. Sear before pressure cooking or slow cooking to build caramelization and flavor in your meals. *Evenly coating your vegetables with a little oil before air crisping will help achieve a perfect level of crispiness. *Arrange ingredients as evenly as possible in the Cook & Crisp™ Basket for consistent browning. *Use hot water when pressure cooking to help your Foodi™ build pressure faster. *Let the unit preheat for 5 minutes before adding ingredients. *Check food frequently to avoid overcooking. I came across this comparison between the Ninja Foodie and another similar product that you may be trying to decide which to purchase. While it was created by Ninja, the information is helpful. https://www.ninjakitchen.com/tendercrisp-foodi-technology/ I have several kitchen products made by Ninja and I am very pleased with all of them. Ninja is in the process of developing the Foodie Deluxe that has an 8-quart Cooking Pot and 5.5-quart Cook & Crisp™ Basket fit a 7-lb chicken. If the current size is sufficient for what you need, you are all set. If not, you may want to wait until the Foodie Deluxe is available. I chose some recipes in the Foodie recipe book that I want to make immediately. I then searched the Internet for recipes using an air fryer and Instant Pot so I could make them with the Foodie. The Foodie has opened a whole new door to a world of easy, healthful cooking for busy people with little spare time. This will now be my go-to gift for bridal showers and weddings.

So, the Ninja Foodie TenderCrisp promises to be a pressure cooker as well as a broiler, air fryer, and crisper. Wouldn't you know I had two new york strip steaks in the freezer that I have been putting off cooking since moving. Normally the wife and I would have those gone in no time. But, with the moving part and all - I keep forgetting to thaw them. In comes the ninja! Just slap those babies into the ninja pressure cooker for a few minutes and walla! They are completely thawed. The instructions said just to add water.. But, I thought I would experiment a bit.. So I added some worcestercire sauce into the mix during this process. The next step was to remove the pressure cooker lid and turn on the actual broiler. This finishes the cooking process. Prior to this, however - I added some of my favorite seasoning. After setting the broiler - I actually stepped away feeling confident that the ninja would do things just right. When the timer played its tone, I went out like a kid on christmas day to find two perfectly cooked strips! The wife and I like our steaks normally cooked medium rare/medium - so we went on the lower end of the suggested cooking time (there is a cook book, and cheat sheet included too!). And.. I bet, with your psychic powers you can expect what I am going to say next? Indeed. Two steaks cooked medium rare. To perfection! I'm actually looking forward to using the ninja more than any other cooking appliance in our household. Not only because of its versatility, but because of the amount of time it saves! Normally, we would either let our steaks thaw in the fridge overnight, or have them sit on the kitchen counter for a few hours at minimum. The ninja? Thawed them in about 4 minutes (which includes the unit building up the pressure). The actual pressure cooking part to thaw the steaks was 2 minutes! TWO MINUTES! There are so many other features I want to try and tell you about, but with the move, I don't think we will be cooking a 5lb chicken any time soon (which the ninja can do without breaking a sweat!!) I'm just thinking of all of the possibilities. Chicken tenders and french fries (air fried). Beef stew. Geez, now I'm getting hungry again! Ok.. Onto the one small issue. The ninja comes with a grill to use for broiling. Sadly, after everything was said and done - I had to break out a scrub brush and scruuuuuuuuuuuub for what seemed like an eternity to get it clean.. Small price to pay I suppose for delicious food? Next time I will probably spray some Pam or brush some oil onto the grill before using it. The actual ceramic bowl cleaned very easily. Just some dish detergent and a kitchen sprayer was needed. No elbow grease there at all! All in all, this multi use kitchen gadget is a must for a family of any size. It will save you time and energy when preparing meals. That I can promise you!

Let's get right into it, this machine is very capable of saving you time, money and energy. Pressure cooking most food before finish crisp cooking is the key. This step moistens the meats keeps them nice and juicy, flash veggies to soften them in minutes. All in one pot, we decided to start with recipes in the cookbook to understand the way things work and get familiar with the Ninja foodi. They have some great recipes in the book to follow, some are easy others require add-on accessories that Ninja sales. Now we use it for everything we cook and the stove has been empty shell for weeks and will stay that way until this unit breaks. We feed a family of 4 adults out of this one Foodi, everything is done at the same time, we don't have to reheat anything and usually ready in 30min. Mash potatoes 2lbs took 10min, 2cups of rice in 3min, meats in just minutes if you choose to make single items like this there is chart that comes with your purchase. I can't stress enough how impressed I am of this cookware, I've purchased other products in the past and nothing comes close to a one pot meal idea like this. I see it on TV all the time and like I said have purchased those TV items and nothing I've bought comes close to the Ninja Foodi. Love it, Love it, Love it!

We use to love this machine however we were making dinner the other night and it just went to an ERR08. Called Ninja and they said there is nothing they can do since it is just past the 1 year warranty. What a huge disappointment. I spent over $200 for this machine to only work one year. Horrible customer service.

I was happy to have the chance to review this product, because it isn't something I would normally have purchased and used on my own. Why? I was always apprehensive of anything that said pressure cooker. Ninja has done their due diligence to make sure this one is not only safe, but that it is well designed, and performs even better than I could have expected. Full size meals in one cooking appliance makes for a great value. Putting a pressure cooker and air fryer in one is a huge success. The included large ceramic pot works great, no sticking. It uses up to 1400 watts, this is serious cooking power. This does need a good amount of precious counter space, but I found I used mine sitting on top of the oven/stove. You can literally cook a meal in this, at the same time. I don't really understand how this is even possible, how the technology works, but it works. If you don't buy this, you'll regret it because I don't know of any other ones that works as this does. Nor at this size.

If I could afford only 1 device to cook with, this would be it. Unlike traditional pressure cookers, the Ninja can finish things off by baking or broiling whatever is in the pot. And the capacity of this thing, 6.5 quarts, is huge. Big family? No problem. Holidays? No problem. Not unlike any new gadget, there is a little bit of a learning curve. The directions are good, so make sure you read them first (I'm talking to you guys). I really like the air fryer feature. With just a small amount of oil, we made fries that tasted every bit as good as those that are deep fried. I never thought the pressure cooker could be reinvented, but that's when Ninja did with the Foodi TenderCrisp. Well worth the investment.
