Needed it for my photography application
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me first say the screen is big. I needed a new computer because the photography application I am using was not working on my 9-year-old computer. I thought about a desktop but then I would either need room under or on top of my desk so I went with an All-in-One. I bought an Open box item which I was nervous about until it came. Yes, the box was slightly messed up and looked like someone had tried the computer because the batteries were in the keyboard and mouse. But it was a big savings doing it this way. The only issue was the batteries were dead for the keyboard. Otherwise, it loaded up fine. The only other thing about the device is the inputs are on the back of the monitor and on the stand. It can make it difficult to get to, if need be, after setup. A plus for me is SD card slot, for my picture upload, is easy to access on the stand.

Excellent multimedia and general use computer.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 34” HP ENVY is an excellent all-in-one computer with an absolutely gorgeous 5k screen and surprisingly good speakers. This particular trim level mates an 11th gen Intel i7 with the NVIDIA GTX1650 graphics card, 16GB RAM, and a speedy 1TB m.2 SSD hard drive. The ultrawide 34” 21:9 ratio screen offers a lot of horizontal real estate and makes for an excellent design and photo editing station. In fact, the star of the show is the non-glare WUHD IPS screen that offers sharp 5k resolution, gorgeous colors, deep black levels, and 500 nits of brightness. It’s an absolute joy to work on, and as a movie lover, 4k movies in full screen 21:9 ratio is an absolute experience. I didn’t even know movies were shot in that format, but Blade Runner 2049 is and yes… do it. Do it now. However, as fantastic as the screen is, it only has a 60hz refresh rate, which would be a letdown for heavy gamers, but then this isn’t the trim level they should get either. The GPU in this model is the NVIDIA GTX1650, which is an upgrade over an internal Intel GPU, but more suited for multimedia and design applications than gaming. It could barely keep up with Need for Speed: Heat on the low graphics setting, but was surprisingly playable with Elden Ring. Scaling the graphics down to 1080p should smooth things out, but it’s hard to not want to play in 5k. There were a few times it froze on me while I was streaming 4k movies, browsing with Chrome, and running updates on Xbox Game Pass. It was fixed with a soft reset, but I think the GTX1650 has a hard time keeping up playing 5k videos and running other memory heavy apps. To be fair, it’s also a lot for a computer to do at once. I’m thinking about upgrading the RAM to 32GB and seeing if that helps. Speaking of multimedia, the sound is tuned by the esteemed Bang & Olufsen and is comparable to good quality tv speakers. There’s no deep low end, but it’s relatively rich, with good midbass, highs, and a nice overall tone. It also gets loud enough for this person who always blasts his music, so it should be respectively loud for most other people as well. HP really went to heart in making the ENVY a true all-in-one package, and it shows. It includes a full size wireless keyboard and mouse that are synced to the computer from the factory, so no pairing is needed. They’re both of good quality, but I wish the keyboard had an adjustable tilt. Nevertheless, the keys have good spacing and feedback, and makes for confident and comfortable typing. HP also includes a nifty magnetic webcam that has mounting spots all around the frame of the monitor. It’s not the greatest cam, but it’s better than most built-in webcams and I’m thankful for the built-in lens cover. It even automatically rotates the image if you’re using the cam sideways, however it'll be a vertical format like you’re recording with a cell phone. Another cool feature is that the base doubles as a wireless charging pad, which has been super convenient for phone and headphone charging. I also love how the monitor to base stem has USB-A, USB-C, and an SD card port that are easy to reach and remain powered, even when the computer is sleeping. There’s also a bunch of ports in the back which makes peripheral expansion easy, but I really, really, really wish there was a video input. The screen is gorgeous and I dearly wish I could plug more things to watch/play on it. It honestly frustrates me that I can’t, but such is life. On the other hand, this has to be the easiest computer ever made in terms of upgrading the RAM and hard drive. There’s two m.2 slots and 2 RAM slots in the rear, which are covered by a magnetic panel that’s easy to pull off (immediate access to the hard drive and RAM in under 5 seconds)! Only one of the m.2 slots is used and I’m happy to report that there are no compatibility problems with adding a Western Digital m.2 card in the unused slot. Overall, if you’re looking for a PC alternative to an iMac, this might be your best bet. This model makes for an excellent multimedia design, photo editing, and general use computer that’s ok for mild gaming. The ultrawide 5120x2160 screen is bright, colorful, gorgeous and a pleasure to use (the black levels are fantastic). The sound is solid and the overall build quality is excellent. The ports are well thought out, the build quality is excellent, it looks and feels like a high end setup and it doesn’t disappoint. I highly recommend the new 34” HP ENVY. PROS - Gorgeous, bright, and colorful 5k (5120x2160) display - 4k movies in full 21:9 is an experience - GTX1650 GPU better than a standard onboard Intel GPU - Good sound quality from speakers - 16GB RAM - Speedy 1TB m.2 hard drive - Incredibly easy to upgrade RAM and hard drive - Two m.2 drive slots - Excellent design, media, office, and general use computer - Great build quality - Beautiful computer setup - Classy design with metal body - Base doubles as a built-in wireless charger - Magnetic webcam isn’t half bad - Base stalk has 2 usb-a, 1 usb-c, and an SD card port - Plenty of rear USB ports - 500 nits brightness - 98% DCI-P3 color spectrum - Included wireless keyboard and mouse are good quality CONS - Entry level NVIDIA GTX graphics card - Screen only 60hz refresh rate - Not wall mountable (cannot remove pedestal) - Not recommended for high end gaming (look for trim level with higher end GPU) - Has frozen up a few times when streaming 4k video and running Chrome and other applications - No video input - Keyboard not height adjustable

Amazing Screen, Pro or Con?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SUMMARY: There is a LOT to love in this HP - ENVY 34" All-In-One computer including innovative features like wireless phone charging, convenient side stand ports, and a magnetic web cam with eight attachment points. The CPU and Graphics performance will power you through most creative tasks and games in style. The construction is solid and aesthetic. There are ports galore. But for most folks judging value, it’s going to boil down to the high quality, and therefore costly, huge 34” 21:9 ultra-wide screen. You are going to love or hate all that expensive space. PROS: -The Screen: High resolution (5120 x 2160), ultra-wide (34”, 21/9), bright (500 nits), vibrant color accurate, this is not your daddy's cheap build's screen. - Less likely to need 2nd (or 3rd) side monitor. Great for multi-tasking. -i7-11700 Intel CPU, above average benchmarks -Discrete NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1650 graphics (4gb ram). Decent for an all in one. -Wireless charging (phones) built into base -EASY (no tools required) access to ram and storage to make swapping up trivial. -Insanely great number of ports, wide variety, including 2 Thunderport 4's! -Responsive wireless keyboard with decent key travel - Magnetic high resolution web cam with a physical shutter that can be attached to 8 separate points along the screen. - Quick and Easy one cord set up. NEUTRAL: - Bang & Olufsen Dual speakers - expected more given the pedigree. - 16 GB DDR4 Memory. For a power-house CPU and graphics for content creation I will add more. CONS: -The Screen: Most are used to a 16:9 aspect ratio. This is WIDE. Con or Pro for you? - Fan Noise - AA Batteries for the Mouse and Keyboard. No way to connect by standard USB. 1990 wants its design back. - RF Keyboard and mouse cannot be used with other computers, wirelessly keyed to this computer only. THE SCREEN: For me, deciding on this particular computer is mostly about the screen. After all, when you sit down to a computer what is the first thing you see? The screen. And THIS screen is both amazing and controversial. Reviews that say the computer price is high, have not priced out what a 5k/2k 5120 x 2160 ultra-wide screen alone costs ($1000-$1500). The screen is top of the line quality, from its high brightness (500 nits), high resolution (sharp text), and vibrant accurate colors. The only monitor I have seen that competes with it is the LG line (like the new screen from Apple, $1600). BUT it is in that ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio (21 represents the width, 9 the height), which means it's really, really, wide. Most of us are used to a 16:9 ratio in our wide screen tv's and monitors (see attached pic), and most games, movies, applications semi-expect that. I found not all games supported the ultra-wide view, but those that did were impressive and meant less people sneaking up from the side. Likewise, some movies are shot in cinematographic format and look great with no 'black bars', but many 16:9 movies will now put the black bars on the side. For productivity, that extra wide screen meant I didn't actually need two side by side screens. I could easily have three browser tabs open side by side, multiple word documents, you get the idea, great for multi-tasking and productivity, especially for content creators. But, make no mistake, I had to look side to side, rotating my head a lot, with such a wide screen. And often that meant what I wanted to work in was dead center with a lot of blank space on the sides. I am still getting used to that, but I can 'see' the advantages to the ultra-wide format. Make sure it's the aspect for you. And not everyone will want to pay the price for high quality (and large size). PERFORMANCE: With the wide screen, I was able to play a game on the left side, work on this review in the middle in MS WORD, and watch you tube on the right while photoshop sat in the background. It only started to thermal throttle when I started pushing around 61 MegaPixel raw files from my Sony A7 rIV. It ran Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop well. It has WIFI 6 for fast wireless connection, I was pushing over 350 Mbps which is as good as I get with any wireless system. GAMING: Work hard to play hard right? It’s a 60hz display, so you know its not for competitive gaming, but gaming enthusiasts. The 4 gb ram on the video card is enough to allow you to run almost all games, though you might have to set the graphics settings to medium for some games. It ran Elden Ring well. So yes, playable for those times you take breaks. BUILD QUALITY: Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but this is one sharp minimalistic design in gun metal grey. The bezels are small. The base is simple and functional with a tube design for lowering and raising and decent tilt. And it is SOLID with very little ‘wiggle’ like you will find in a lot of cheaper screens. Note, the stand cannot be separated from the screen, its permanently attached, and be warned, it is HEAVY, almost 25 pounds so you won’t be casually moving it around from location to location like you might a smaller All-In-One. ACCESSORIES & PORTS: As noted, there are several innovations that are well designed and functional. In the flat of the base is room to lay down your phone for wireless charging. Along the side of the central stand are handy ports so you don’t have to reach behind to the back, a SD card reader for photographers, 2 USB-A ports, and a USB-C port. Speaking of ports, these are in addition to the ethernet port, 2 thunderbolt 4 ports, 4 USB-A ports, HDMI, and headphone jack on the back of the screen. So yeah, you got ports. The included keyboard and mouse are okay. Functional and fit in well with the design look. But you might want to replace them with your favorites. Two things bug me about them, they are powered by regular batteries with no way to wire the devices to the computer for a charge or a connection. They connect to the computer via RF, which normally means a dongle, but in this case, it is built in. One less dongle is great right? Not if you want to use these devices with any other computer. Use them with this computer, or throw them away. I was hoping for more out of the Bang & Olufsen Dual speakers, they are okay for casual use, but are muddy sounding, lack base and just are not great for movies and music. And this is a screen built for watching movies from time to time. This is a common complaint for screens, but given the size and B&O reputation, just think they could have been better. Lost opportunity to wow me like the screen itself does. The web cam is external, magnetically attaching to 8 discrete points along on the screen so you can get the angle you want. Very clever. Its high resolution with 2 microphones for a superior web meeting experience. Finally, it has a manual privacy shutter to cover the lens so you don’t have to worry about who might be watching, no tape over the web cam for you. FAN NOISE: Like most (all?) Intel based computers, this one gets hot, not so much during routine web browsing or even simple game play, but once it starts to heat up, that fan comes on and doesn't seem to want to go off. And unlike desktops that you can move further away, or even docked laptops, this one by default is right in your face with the monitor. It would come on during intensive graphics (photoshop with large RAW files or AAA games). Your tolerance to such will vary, mine is low but for the most part was okay with it. Only annoying at night for me. SHOULD YOU OR SHOULDN’T YOU: It’s great for multi-tasking, works well for content creating, is easy to set up and use, and is a good multi-media entertainment center. The 21:9 ultra-wide screen is a matter of taste. Taking that high quality screen into account, the HP Envy is a good value and I give it five stars. But if you don’t care about color accuracy, just want a machine to play games on, you might want to find something cheaper with a 16:9 aspect ratio because if I was judging on pure CPU and GPU performance alone, I would be giving it 4 stars.

Lots of money, lots of problems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to update and buy the new HP All in One. However shortly after set up I received screen stating “ Boot Device Not Found (3F0)” and vague directions for solution. I called tech support and after 15 mins I had a gentleman remote into the PC and run diagnostics and ensure the system was updated. 90 mins later the PC is still displaying the same error. For $2000 plus, I expect for none to minimal issues, more intuitive, and ready to work out the box! HP may have rushed this into production, but I am still hopeful.

Huge screen, less clutter, lotsa power!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine comes in a huge box and is very securely padded. Taking it out of the box, I had very few 'pieces' to put together, just the power cord and the camera and batteries for mouse and keyboard. So, it is ready to go in a few minutes! This computer was designed for someone who works at the computer all day with so many features, including plenty of ports, usb a, usb c, hdmi, sound, etc, on the back of the monitor and on the stem of the pedestal. The USB camera attaches to multiple spots on the edge of the screen through magnets, so you can place it on the top or sides, at any angle to suit. Closing the camera is done with a slide, super easy. The pedestal base charges your phone, and the keyboard/mouse dongle is built into the computer. I really like the sleekness and minimal clutter with this computer. Of course, my HP printer installed in a snap, too! I do a lot of work on web conferencing, documents, web browsers and more all at the same time. As you can see in the photo, it's easy to have two windows open at once and clearly see them. I had been working with two monitors, but having one wide screen at the same angle is easier on the eyes. The computer wakes in seconds and goes right to work, responsive even when running programs that are memory hogs. The sound quality is excellent and the screen is very vibrant and displays videos well. Overall this computer fills my needs and gives me a lot more room on my desk as there is no laptop or second monitor taking up space. I like the keyboard quite well and enjoy having ten key number pad on the right. The mouse is alright, but I prefer a taller one, but that is just individual preference. No issues in connecting my other mouse via bluetooth. for anyone who works at the same desk everyday, this all-in-one is handier than a laptop!

High rez 34in screen all-in-one
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP - ENVY 34" Widescreen UHD All-In-One- This is basically a laptop with a large 34" widescreen (21:9 aspect ratio) monitor with 5,210 by 2,160 pixel resolution. The operating system is Windows 11 Home. There is almost no bezel, so this is a big plus on a 34" screened computer. It has a nice brightness level and very good picture quality. With that much viewing area you can have multiple screen open and can-do multitasking well. It includes a magnetic mount USB webcam with a s camera with multiple points along the top bottom and edges that allow you to attach it. It also has a slide switch to activate a lens cover for privacy. This is a full HD camera. The neck on the camera is adjustable and if you want you can set it up to show something on your desk – that is pretty flexible. The picture is crisp and equivalent to may High-end webcams. The camera has a dual array of microphones. I was impressed with the ability of the camera to compensate for a low lighting conditions. On the back of the monitor you will get four USB 3.0 ports, two USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 support, an HDMI connection, a head set connection and an Ethernet port. The Stand also has two more USB 3.0 ports, a USB-C connection, and an SD card slot. The machine has satisfying audio quality and by gosh there is a fan and slots in the top of the system for heat release if you push the pedal to the metal for long periods of time. The stand base also has a wireless charging tech built into it but I couldn't get either or my two Android phones or an Android watch to hook up more than four seconds. The unit comes with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. The mouse, in my opinion, feels cheap and is way too light. The keyboard is stout and compact with a full set of keys it has a nice weight and rugged feel. The only downside is I wish it had lighted keys. It comes with WiFi 6 making for good speedy Wifi connections if direct wire isn’t available. The computer is capably equipped with an Intel i7-11700 processor, 16GB or RAM and a 1TB M.2 SSD. There is a removable back panel with a pair of M.2 SSD slots and four RAM slots – making it easy to update to more storage or up to 128GB of RAM. The system uses an onboard Intel video with a NVIDA laptop version of the NVIDIA 3060 GPU. The machine has a good design and is pleasing to display on your desk. The monitor is beautiful with good colors and contrast. The Blacks are even and no flashlighting. The machine is useful and has decent performance. Games are best run at medium settings and frame rates drop significantly in ultrawide (21:9) mode. This is great for machine movies and videos. The machine is adequate for Photoshopping and Premiere work. It was capable of decent transcoding speeds for a 4K video to 1080p in eight and a half minutes. HP's included Palette software—a toolkit that includes solutions for photo searching, phone connectivity, and wireless sharing is a decent program and there is not a lot of junkware on the machine. Some of the things I didn't like was when I opened the upgrade panel up the cooler for the M2 SSD was cocked and the mounting heat transfer tape was at best tacky. I took care of that prior to turning the machine on. I am not a big fan of Windows 11 and feel it is not yet ready for prime time. I believe you would have problems downgrading to Windows 10 since I don't see any drivers on the HP website. Even though I have performance-optimized, the PC startup lags behind my other computers of comparable specs, whether they are desktops or laptops… So be patient when the desktop starts to display.

3FO Error
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read the reviews, saw that there was a common error and assumed there would be a fix for it. I thought I could get around this by buying a certified used version thinking it had probably been returned from having the issue and now its been “fixed” and being resold $100 less. Win/win, this was jot the case. I booted it up, it looks amazing, runs super quick, and the ultra wide display is great. After about 30 mins of using it i came back to a 3FO error screen. Hopefully they eventually get this fixed because this would be a terrific all-in-one if it actually worked.

Good so far
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I will say I read other reviews of this computer before receiving it and was definitely weary because of the constant Bios errors that others have received after just a few days of use. That said, so far it seems to have performed well. The box includes the all in one computer, webcam, wireless keyboard and mouse, and power cord to connect. Everything was really easy to set up and get going including setup since I already have a windows account from previous computers. On the back, there is an ethernet port, 1 HDMI port, 4 USB ports, 2 lighting ports, and an AUX port for headphones. I like the usability of ports because you can easily connect an external monitor; even though you probably wouldn't need to, the screen is HUGE. Overall, the visual quality is incredible. I love the screen size because I can have two windows open at the same time and still have them at a good size to complete multiple tasks at once. So far, I've used this for work and my son has used it to play Roblox and Poppy Playtime on STEAM. It functions fast and doesn't have the lag I do when I'm working on my MacBook with several windows open. Now the problem > About 5 days after setting this up, I got the dreaded Bios message. At that point I was pretty weary that it would be stuck forever. However, I simply followed the prompts to update it and it ended up restarting with ease without any other troubleshooting necessary. The included webcam also has a piece where you can open and close the camera so you don't need to worry about covering it yourself with a post it. Besides the one hiccup with the Bios issue, it has performed great and I've had no issues. I would definitely ensure you have a warranty should you run into any of the software issues others have had.

Wow. Gorgeous and performance to back it up!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine is sleek, fast, and so efficient. HP has obviously put thought into how users interact with a desktop PC these days and it shows!! When you unpack this PC and set it on the desk, it’s jaw-dropping. Just a gorgeous machine. Matte metallic grey finish, edge to edge screen, thin profile, ports galore, and a surprisingly small footprint for such a large size. There are very few parts to unpack: the PC, keyboard, mouse, webcam, and power cable. The PC is heavy and sturdy with a monitor mounted on a thin spine that moves up and down smoothly with a finger. It feels substantial and high end. It is not an eyesore at all and looks unobtrusive on the desk. The platform also serves as a wireless charging pad, which is brilliant and eliminates the need for separate charging cables for other devices like phones and earbuds. The keyboard is of good weight (I was surprised), and travel is good, satisfying to type on. But really, I will replace with my preferred wireless keyboard because we all have our favorites and they are rarely what comes with a desktop. That said, if HP wanted this one to be a keeper, they’d have made it able to charge wirelessly on the built-in Qi charger instead of powered with AAA batteries. That’s a big missed opportunity, but not a deal breaker at all. The mouse—yeah, throw that away and use your favorite mouse. The webcam is genius! It snaps to the edge of the monitor magnetically and can be moved easily. It also has a nice sliding physical shutter to close the lens when not in use. There all the needed ports on the spine and rear of the machine, although so far the only one I’ve had to use is a USB for my keyboard/mouse and the HDMI in. That’s right—IN!!! You can use this as a monitor for your business laptop or any other device HDMI out. That is invaluable for me on an AIO. I am not using this machine for hardcore gaming, more for home office and a lot of Steam gaming. It’s holding its own like a champ. The size lets me snap two desktops just like having two monitors, and I have not hit a snag as yet. If you are looking for super high performance graphics, I would look to a different type product with active liquid cooling, etc. but for my purposes this AIO will serve for years spec’d as is.

A nice all in one!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is good all in one, but has just a couple of things that set it back. The good. Screen is AWESOME! It's so clear, I could not capture it in a photo. You'll have to see it in person. Viewing angles are flat out amazing. Wireless charging. The wireless charger built into the base of the stand is genius! Anything that can wireless charge goes there, I use it daily. The camera. It's just okay at best, because like all webcams you need GREAT lighting. It's gonna be great for video conferences, but I would not use it to do professional content. The not so good. PRICE. For what's inside, this does not warrant a price tag as offered. Come down a few hundred, and it's golden. The design is super nice, and compact. You can put this in any room, and people will go to it. Draws you in, simply just sleek and sexy. Build quality is great in my opinion, and has nearly EVERY port you'll need to get started right out of the box. The keyboard is really nice, and has a certain heft to it that makes it feel high quality. The mouse on the other hand feels cheap, and not well thought out. I had to switch back to my other mouse, this one is just horrible to me. Buttons are a little too clicky, and there are too many errors while using. The speakers are very solid, buy lack bass and true tones. Overall, this is a great machine with just a few drawbacks. If you can handle the price right now, I'd say grab it. If not, wait for it to go on sale. It's for sure worth a look.

Big and Beautiful Productivity Machine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this computer a lot. The ultrawide screen is stunning, the performance is great, and it’s got some very thoughtful additions in the form of the wireless charging pad and magnetic webcam. I do wish the built-in GPU was better, but at least with Thunderbolt onboard the option to upgrade is there. For anything productivity focus this thing is a dream. Getting into the box the first thing I noticed was how big this thing is. It takes up a significant portion of my desk. The ultrawide screen is about as tall as my normal 27” monitor, but it’s over 1.5x wider and easily negates the need for a lot of dual monitor setups. It is permanently attached to its base, which is a bit of a shame as I would have liked to have attached it to my monitor mount, but when the base includes the wireless charging pad and several I/O I can somewhat forgive it, though the option to jettison it anyway would have been cool. In addition to the computer the box also includes a wireless mouse and keyboard that match the aesthetic of the main computer, as well as the magnetic webcam that can attach to various points on the display. For the price, the specs are very good save for the GPU. The 11th gen i7 processor is very good but not top end. The 16GB of RAM is adequate for most day-to-day tasks and fortunately it is upgradable up to 128GB along with the 1TB NVMe SSD, which sits next to another NVMe slot for additional storage. The RAM and SSD can both be accessed without tools by popping off the magnetic cover on the back and I love that HP doesn’t stick you with what ships with PC, especially with this being an all-in-one. You get a fair amount of I/O in the form of 3 USB-C ports (2 of them Thunderbolt 4), 5 USB-A, an HDMI out, Ethernet, headphone jack, and an SD card reader. The one area of the specs I feel is a bit of a letdown is the GPU, which is a GTX 1650. It seems like a big miss to not even ship this with an RTX 3050 or 3050 Ti in 2022 (or late 2021 if you prefer when this model was originally released). Including all of these modern components with a 2019 processor feels like a mistake. There are higher configurations of the Envy 34 that include an RTX 3060 or even an RTX 3080; I just don’t think for something this high end the GTX 1650 should be the floor. On my initial boot getting configured and loaded into Windows 11 was fairly straightforward and I was at the desktop in less than 10 minutes. The Envy 34 comes with a fair amount of bloatware, but it’s not too egregious and most of it was easily removed. One of the first things I noticed was how eye-searingly bright the display is. The colors really pop on this thing without being oversaturated. HP says each unit is color calibrated out of the box and while I don’t have anything to measure that claim from what I can see everything looks as it should. I keep the brightness at around 75% and even that is quite a bit brighter than the monitor I have been using. At full brightness it’s almost uncomfortable to use. Performance not related to the GPU is excellent; I can be running multiple programs, a bunch of Chrome tabs, and more and it doesn’t slow down. I did try some games using the GTX 1650 and you can maybe get away with 1080p low-medium settings on some games, but for the most part it’s a bad experience. For lighter duty applications like photo editing it should be fine though. I did invest in an external GPU enclosure and tried using my RTX 2080 from my other PC with this setup via the Thunderbolt port and that worked really well, so not all hope is lost. The built-in Bang & Olufsen speakers are good, but I was hoping they’d be a little better. I watch a lot of stuff with my wife on her 16” MacBook Pro, which are known for having great speakers, and was hoping for something comparable to that. I just never felt like I could get them to sound quite ‘right’ no matter how much I messed with the EQ settings. The included mouse and keyboard are pretty nice for a bundle. They match the aesthetic of the computer and look really nice, but I don’t find the mouse to be comfortable to use and the buttons on mine often get stuck down. I have better mice and keyboards to use with it and I would imagine most people purchasing this will too. The magnetic webcam is excellent. The video quality is on par with my Logitech StreamCam and on top of that you also get Windows Hello login functionality with it. The computer has several points across all sides to attach the webcam. You can even attach it to the bottom of the screen and have it looking straight down at something on your desk, which is pretty darn cool. The microphone is also pretty good - more than good enough for video calls. Lastly there’s a built-in mechanical privacy shutter. I’ll probably mostly just leave mine positioned front and center, but having all that flexibility without needing a tripod is very cool. Lastly there is a wireless charging pad embedded into the base. I’ve charged my iPhone 13 and Pixel 6 and it works great on both. I do occasionally find myself having to hunt for the right position to get the charging started, but no more than I have to with any wireless charger. Overall I’m very happy with the Envy 34. It’s a beautiful computer that will look great wherever it is and it’s ready to do work.

Big screen that will spoil you.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Desktop computers have been declining in sales in recent years as people are tending to migrate to laptops and tablets for many of their daily needs. But there are just some things that you really need a much larger screen for. The HP Envy 34 inch all-in-one computer is in an upper-end range of those for consumers. I’ll call it the “HP 34” for short. The HP 34 is for the most part, already assembled out of the box. It’s heavy (you may want to use two people to unbox it), made of a lot of aluminum, and has a very solid base, stand, and of course, the 34 inch monitor already attached. Setup is quick - plug in the power cable, the included magnetic webcam, and turn it on via the tiny power button on the lower-right of the underside of the monitor. It will go through the usual Windows setups, and, IMPORTANT, run all Windows 11 updates as there are quite a few. This may require some manual updates to speed things along, and a few restarts along the way. An hour or so later and I was up to date. The main event on this model is the monitor - 34 inches wide and has a resolution of 5120 x 2160 pixels. It’s bright, colorful, and very sharp. The frames (bezels) on the top and sides are very thin. Via the stand, you can raise or lower the height, and tilt it back and forward some, but sadly, you cannot rotate it to a vertical position which would have been perfect for this type of monitor and certain uses. It’s wide enough that you can view three programs or web pages side-by-side if needed, or use the entire space for something like photo or video editing programs. There is no optical drive (DVD, etc) so any movies you want to watch on it will have to be streamed or you can use an external DVD drive. The back of the monitor has a variety of ports that include an Ethernet port to hard wire it to your router/modem if that’s your preference, a headphone/mic jack, 2 thunderbolt 4 type-C ports, 4 USB ports, the power port, HDMI, and a panel where you can access RAM and Storage should you want to update it later. The stand itself actually also includes a SD memory card reader, a USB-C port and 2 USB-A ports for convenience so you don’t have to reach around back to connect something. The flat base doubles as a wireless charger, so you can sit your phone or other devices on top of it and charge them - convenient, and does a good job keeping my phone topped off while I’m using the computer! The included keyboard is solid, but not “ergo” shaped. The included mouse is kind of cheapish. The dongle that wirelessly connects them to the computer is actually pre-built into the computer itself, so there is no physical dongle for you to plug in. In terms of power, this is on the higher end of consumer machines, but not really quite pro specs out of the box. It has an 11th generation i7 processor, 16 gigs of RAM (I would REALLY have loved to see 32 gigs for this price), a 1 TB solid state hard drive (fast), and a NVIDIA GTX 1650 graphics card with 4 gigs of dedicated graphics memory (I would have loved to see an 8 gig card in here). Wi-Fi 6 is supported. Bang and Olufsen speakers on each side of the monitor are pretty good. You probably won’t throw parties with them, but they are more than good enough for casual entertainment and work use, I think. I used an older Microsoft encoder video program to see how well this setup could handle stress, as that program tends to tax a system more than standard daily-use ones. It captured screen video well and rendered it pretty quickly. I could hear the system kick in midway through and it certainly did need to work on it, but it wasn’t obnoxiously loud. If you are going to go for “pro level” longer video rendering though, you might want to opt for more RAM and a more robust video card. All other tasks have been handled really well and are enjoyable to use on that screen. The included webcam is magnetic and it’s base will stick on a variety of areas around the monitor, or you could stick it off-computer on a metal item too. It’s 16 megapixels and will capture a good enough amount of detail, especially considering most laptop cams are only 720p, but I do notice a bit of a yellowish-green tint to the video depending on lighting (not auto-corrected very well), and some noise appears when the light isn’t the best. Two mics on it picks up sound well. Again, it’s definitely much better than what you see as standard on lesser machines and laptops, but not quite as good perhaps as some other pro models of cams. Ok, so, the HP 34 pushes past $2k, and as such is not within the typical consumer desktop budget for most families. So who should get this? In my opinion, this would be a good computer for content creators on social media, or those who in general need a lot of work space in front of them for photo, casual to mid-range video editing, or those who work from home and need to have multiple screens open at the same time in front of them. For this price, I would really have liked to see a screen that rotates vertically as well as more RAM, and perhaps a slightly beefier video card, though. I still recommend it - it’s well built and the screen will spoil you.

Window 11 brought it down a Star
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Wide Screen is Great for Multi Windows Additional RAM was Very Easy to Install Adjustable Camera is a nice feature CONS: Absolutely HATE Windows 11 Miss having a Taller screen for scrolling Does not respond well to Logi Mouse & Keyboard Does not Swivel While I know that there is a "Learning Curve" moving from Windows 10, Windows 11 makes it MUCH harder to find common files that you are looking for. It is not near as user friendly as Windows 10.

Great buy
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The wide screen is great in this computer. I can have 3 windows up at a time. Not having a separate tower is a plus; this has all I need for work and personal use. I did have to download the bios update (which was a bit of a hassle) when I first got it.
